What psychology of mk do you know about?

I was not aware that his is the only name allowed to face the castle, my belief was that his window faced the castle so that he could "see over the park" and is located about the ice cream parlor because he really enjoyed ice cream and can now get a snack right downstairs.

See my post above. At least that's what we were told during our KTTW tour. During the tour we were asked if we knew why there so many benches around WDW. We were told it was because Walt loved to disguise himself and just sit out in the park at Disneyland watching the guests and talking to them to see what they really liked and he felt like there was never enough benches around to just sit, relax, and smell the roses.

This is why I love Disney. It's the way that they have planned the park and added in all the little details. This is what makes Disney so different from all of the other theme parks.

I was talking to a CM once about Fastpass, and I made a statement about how I would never wait in line hours for a 2 minute ride. She told me that even though people are waiting for a long time, Disney sets up the lines so you are never far from seeing a 'turn' in the line.. therefore giving you the illusion that you're getting closer and closer to your goal! Very cool!

This is what I was going to post! oh and another thing that's interesting: did you know that they don't sell gum in the parks at WDW?? they do this so people don't stick gum on rides/chairs/trees/etc. great idea!

except for those ones that bring it in and spit it onthe ground/floors, i literally stuck to the floor at the fp's for soarin last month. they weren't long in shutting that fp machine down to clean the gum up.


i've heard they also dont sell newspapers in the world as it takes away from the fantasy.

I read somewhere that when Disneyland first opened, Walt saw a family rushing towards the exits and asked them what was wrong. The father said that he saw the roads from one of the rides and saw a huge amount of traffic and they were trying to leave so they wouldn't get home too late. Walt made sure that you couldn't see the real world from the parks in Disney World so that you were completely submerged in the magic Also, you can't see anything from the other lands when you're a different one.

This is my favorite part of Disney.. my boyfriend makes fun of me because I always talk about how he thought of EVERYTHING!

There is one spot where you can see another land from Frontierland. The top of the tiki room can be seen from Frontierland. Walt spent A LOT of time & thought on what to put at the top. Then he pick a kind of Asian water bufflo, b/c if fit with Frontierland and and in Advent. land.
I do not know if it is still there, but when i find a pic i will post!

My memory is shady, but I think you can see Tomorrowland from the Swiss Family Treehouse as well? I swear I saw Space Mountain and Astro Orbiter from there... I'll have to check my pics.

I just remembered something else from our KTTK tour. Something we never really noticed until it was "pointed" out to us. Disney CMs will ALWAYS point you in a certain direction using 2 fingers. Walt considered it rude to point with one. Now we watch for it and have a little giggle if we see a CM point with one finger - newbies!

So I just got done watching a Disney parks dvd and some of the facts I found facinating were these

The reason WDW is in existance today is because shortly after DL was up and running companies flooded in to buy the property surrounding the park. This left tons of sinage and bilboards evading into park space. Walt wasn't too fond of this, so he felt he needed to "start over". Hence, the DW idea was born. He hired private detectives to scout out and buy property for him under about 6 dummy coperation names, this served 2 purposes, one to keep the price of the properties down, and 2 the abilitiy for him to buy large parcels of land so sinage invading the property wouldn't be a problem. After the property was bought he arranged for them to be considered their own governing towns, so he didn't have to deal with zoning regulations. Bay Lake and Lake Buena Vista are actually Disney run towns.

The other little morsel of information is regarding the fireworks, watch them closely next time you are there. Normally when a firework is shot off there is a little trail in the sky until the firework blooms. At Disney there is no such trail because they use air to blow them out of the fireworks cannons.

Isn't ToT all a shade of pink? I'm pretty sure the front matches the back.

Probably used in many places now, but there are no 'square' corners on the sidewalks at MK, not sure about the rest of WDW but all the corners are round.

Not really magic but around certain sitting places that you could eat in MK, you will see wires above you, they are to try to keep birds away from you when eating. Now, what keeps them from landing there and pooping on you I dont know, but you dont really see bids sitting there either.

Check out the tops of the buildings in MK, and you'll realize how much lightning they must get to need all of those lightning rods


Most of the buildings on main street use forced perspective, but there are 2 that dont. The train station, and expo hall. The train station because they were using a full size train, had to have a full size station, and expo hall so you couldnt see the contemp from main street. Not sure not that BLT is up. You CAN see the contemp from tomorrowland since it followed the 'future' style though.

Yep, and I actually do that now. I realized it is rude, and find myself almost off the time pointing with 2 fingers!
