~are the few days prior to my trip (in this case, we leave Wednesday, 4/21).

You know it's coming for weeks, months....but I don't get all fired up until right before. These few days are crazy with cleaning, organizing, packing, etc...but I try to slow down and enjoy the pre-trip frenzy!

Hair cuts are done!
Cat care is set up!
Cleaning & organizing entire house (in process). Because I can't be the only one who can't relax until she freaks out cleaning :lmao:

Packing bags start tonight (I realize I do this later than a lot of Dis posters but I just can't get that going until right before). I have a mental checklist, know where everything is, I just don't pack it all until @ 2 nights before we leave.

I guess my point here, in this excited rambling of nonsense is, the months of planning are great, but are seem to go in slo-motion. The trip itself is always a whirlwind. The return can have that post-vaca blues. But the days, and literal HOURS before *I* leave, are most exciting.

I try to savor that anticipation because before I know it, I'll be squawking about the heat, the crowds, the annual "why do we do Chef Mickey's again?' question, the dreaded return day...The anticipation is always perfect, whereas the reality can have glitches :thumbsup2

Now just to make sure all is set so I can relax and watch Lost on Tuesday night, before we leave :cool1:

Agreed! Love that pre-night feeling where your heart is fluttering in your stomach....you can't sleep...and you got that smile on your face knowing when you get out of bed you'll be in Disney in a few hours!!!

32 more days for me cant wait!!!

We're leaving Friday the 23rd. Personally, I'm pretty ambivalent about the days right before we leave - hubby is NOT a planner, and hates doing stuff ahead of time, which makes me crazy when we're traveling. Back when we were first married, he once started doing laundry the morning of the day we were supposed to leave. :scared1: After we had kids I started trying to get him to do stuff earlier so the kids were not completely psychotic before we even hit the road. :p So while I love the planning and packing, I hate trying to get him to do stuff in time that we actually leave the morning of the day I planned on.

But I do know the feeling you're talking about - it's just that I don't get it until we actually hit the road. I always print out bunches of maps and writeups and flyers and whatever I can get my hands on, and take them along, so I have those prompts for dreaming while on the road. So I get to savor that anticipation all the way down. :goodvibes

Yes, i agree!!! :cool1: Im super excited. We are leaving in 13 days and i love how excited you get right before the trip. Have fun on your trip. :goodvibes

We leave on May 15th...I am trying to keep my excitment level down for now, but I lay in bed and think about Haunted Mansion, and Splash Mountain and riding the train around WDW and going to Germany at Epcot, I can hardly take it! I just make myself fall asleep because if I dont I wont sleep!!! Love planning, love researching, love it all!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:wizard:

We leave on Thursday and I'm trying not to think about it. I have too much work to do anyway and all of our plans are set so we shouldn't have much to worry about.

Have fun! :thumbsup2

we don't leave for another month (5/20) but I have two weeks of school left and finals and I'm at the burnout point and the excitement is killing me because I am under so much stress with school and work! But I went and bought the litttle travel items this past weekend and the anticipation is killing me! We drive from Ohio, so it is a long drive and I get super excited when we get into Orlando and see signs to Disney and then once we pass under the sign! I think because it's such a long drive that I need to get through it before it becomes real to me! Can't wait!!!

I think If we were driving, I'd be more like you. We are flying, and since I dread the 'getting to the airport, getting thru the airport, boarding the plane, waiting for plane to take off, sitting on plane anxiety, landing plane, deboarding, luggage issues, rentals, getting to resort' business, I am usually not giddy until we check in and reset :goodvibes

I can not stand the wait. I have 13 days to go. I finally got my dineing resies done. I am starting a list of what needs done. I have not had a vacation in three years. I work a very demanding job. I was thinking today whyle planning this is for me. I deserve this so much.

another item to check off the list, with ~36 hours to spare...

bathing suits for me! 2, in fact!

That was draining.:rotfl2:

This time tomorrow I will be there. For me I am dreading the plane. Other than that. I love the packing. Except for my husband, who packed last night!!!! My kids and I have been packed for a week now. I told him he had better figure out what he wanted to wear or he would have nothing clean and ironed and he would look awful. Now, we just need to get up at 3 am for our 6 am flight. :scared1:

We leave on Sunday and for weeks I have been on this board non stop and driving everyone crazy with how excited I am, but with only a few days left I have to get down to business..Just finished scrubbing the kitchen floor...lots of cleaning let to do:eek: Finish packing, keep checking the countdown clock...But I love every minute of the anticipation. I feel it really adds to the trip
Oh and I also have to get my house ready for our new puppypluto: which we are picking up the day we get back, not the best timing:rotfl2:

Me ::MinnieMo DH:rolleyes1 DS:cool:

when we call WDW Travel and actually book the trip. From that point on it's no-hold barred excitement and planning!

I'm 11 days out and 100% giddy! I packed todayand hid the suitcases in the basement. It's a surprise graduation trip for DH ! I will tell him early the morning we leave! :)

Our last 2 trips were like that--carrying kids out of their beds @5am to drive to airport/early flights. While that has its benefits, I am looking forward to our later flight (11am). I can still sneak in an early morning run (Dining Plan :scared1: gotta run when I can), and have no problem getting us all out of the house. It's just a 3 hr flight, so as long as things go smoothly, we should be on Main St a couple hrs before our CRT dinner reservations :yay:

Lots of things get me excited for the trip, shopping for summer clothes for one, since it was actually sleeting here on sunday:(

We are leaving in the morning as well. We have the 6.20am flight so I am not so thrilled about getting up at 3.30am but I know it will be VERY easy to get the kids out of bed since they know where we are headed!

I have been gathering stuff for a while but only started packing last night, and I will finish up today.

Little things that make it real... getting the DME tags, picking up park passes, gift cards.... Printing off spreadsheets, airline info... all that fun Mom stuff.

My kids are out of school now so that helped them... I just can't wait, hope to be able to sleep tonight! See you there!

Totally agree.. the best time.. is the last few days right before you leave... pure magic!!!

One of our last trips, I was trying to pry my then 4 yr old son from his race car bed before 5am. We had discussed everything earlier, of course, but he's four, so...plus he does NOT like being woken up (unlike my daughter, who we believe doesn't even require sleep). He was grouchy and mumbling and clinging to his bed for dear life. It was like he tripled his weight; I could barely lift him :lmao:

Yes I am from Boston area and now in NH and we had some crazy weather. Very damp, cold, and hail too. Snow last week, in fact. Today looks amazing out there, but I am so ready for the Florida temps. I promise not to complain about the heat. Maybe!

And yes, I bought a few new clothes for myself as well, finally ( I always end up buying new clothes for my kids but they are all set). So that felt good!

I still have to pack :rotfl2: but like I said, that goes fast, as I have a mental checklist and know where everything is. Have a great time!

For some reason I always get a case of 'Buyer's Regret' a few days before we leave. We usually fly down mid-week so we pack the weekend before and my attitude is always, 'Well, I guess I gotta pack and get this show on the road.' It's not until we're through airport security and we're sitting at the gate that I feel like I'm on vacation and as for the moment that psyches us up, it's getting that blast of hot, humid air as we de-plane at MCO after a lousy PA winter.
