What photo editing software do you use?

I got a (total surprise) Canon SLR for Christmas, and I'm just about to take it on our Disney trip for its inaugural use, LOL.

In the past, I've just used the software that came with my Kodak point and shoot. However, I find their software unnecessarily difficult to use and not at all user friendly.

I don't know how to use Photoshop, plus I don't want to spend that kind of money on the software at this point.

Any recommendations? I'm up for online editing or software based editing, whichever you think is better and more user friendly.

I use Aperture with my Mac, but it's definitely a little over powered for most people. Have you tried Picasa? It's free and made by Google, and while not super powerful, it will do most basic edits. You could also try Photoscape for a little more in depth editing. There are a bunch out there, though, so don't be afraid to download a few to try out and see what you like.

A few of them, but when I'm looking for very good results by just hitting a singe "fix" button, that I like the results I get from Google's Picasa the best. And its free.

You can do more than just automatix fix too.

We use GIMP, but if you think the Kodak software is difficult to use you'll probably struggle with GIMP. GIMP is an opensource image editing software close to the level of Adobe Photoshop.

I have two that I use on a regular basis. I have Photoshop 7 and Photoshop Elements 8.

I used Photoshop to add Mushu to my DD's picture in my signature.

Thanks for all the recommendations--I'll check them out. Picasa definitely looks good considering you can upload to Shutterfly from it.
