What parks to start at during WDW marathon?

We will be at WDW Jan 6-12. I know traffic is bad on Sat. & Sun. Where should we start in the morning? How is the course laid out from start to finish? We are staying at the Residence Inn LBV and will be driving in. We usually enter Disney thru the DTD entrance on 435 which is very slow when traffic is heavy. Thanks in advance for any guidance.

On Saturday (Half Marathon) the only parks affected will be Epcot and the MK.

The Full Marathon (Sunday) runs through all four parks. AK and the Studios are probably the least disturbed by the Marathon.

Also, keep in mind both races start at 6:AM.

Half Marathon starts and finishes at EPCOT on Saturday. It goes up the main roads to and through the MK and then back down the main roads to EPCOT. At 11 am there will be a 5k and kid races there as well. Personally I would avoid EPCOT on Saturday unless you go in the afternoon on.... In the am MGM or AK would be your best bets, especially if you use the next exit and not travel through DTD.

Full Marathon starts and finishes at EPCOT on Sunday. It travels main roads and then through all four parks. It will be going on until after lunchtime although the end is usually walkers and the roads are mostly open. Being that MK is it's first stop, I would think going there would be fine. I don't know how they effect the parks they are still running in.......maybe others can let you know. Although being they finish at EPCOT it may be the most affected.
