I've been to sea world, but not for ages so I'll probably go there. How about Wet and Wild or any other attractions?
How about Old Town?

When I go to Orlando, I go to US/IOA, WDW, or Seaworld. A neat day trip is to Kennedy Space Center about an hour away.

Kennedy Space Center is a great idea. The only thing my 12 year old has been crabby about since we diecdied to do a non WWD trip next year is missing out on Mission Space. I hear they have a great Space Shuttle launch simulator.

They may have a simulator, I have not been there in a few years. But, its a really neat place to visit.

When we didn't live in Florida - our trip to Orlando would include:

Magic Kingdom
Epcot
Universal Studios
Sea World
Busch Gardens
Kennedy Space Center
Hotel Pool :p

My Dad was a trooper. My mom refused to ride any of the rides (what a waste of a ticket!!!!!) hahahahha

My Dad was definitely the best ;)

This doesn't really answer your question, but YES I enjoyed going to Kennedy Space Center when I was younger (and haven't been in years and I REALLY want to go back!!)

I went to KSC this past May. Sadly, it was just before the simulator opened. I *really* want to go on that. I'd like to go into space for myself, but I don't have $20,000,000 laying around to bribe NASA with. ;)

That being said, KSC is very cool. Lots of exhibits, great photo ops, fun IMAX experiences. Well worth the time to go out there.

I know the feeling! I wanted so badly to be an astronaut, but growing up a female in the 60s, I was led to believe that women would never be allowed to be astronauts. Also, back then you had to have perfect vision withough glasses (before Lasik) and I had very bad vision.

So...I'm a special ed science teacher. Maybe one day I can get into the teacher in space program (two of my collegues from my last school were in the top 10 for the program, in fact one was at the Challenger launch when it exploded).

I wonder if the simulator is anything like Mission Space (I hear that NASA designed that).

I wouldn't recommend Wet & Wild.
It's looking way past its best in my opinion.

If it's a water park you are after then either of the Disney ones beats it hand down.

Looking forward to Aquatica.

Gotto disagree with you Jakey. Personally, Wet n' Wild is the best water park found in the Orlando area. Unlike Disney's Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, Wet n' Wild has innovative rides. Though it may lack the atmosphere of each, it still has some amazing rides. These rides include...

1) Bomb Bay: A straight down water slide that places you in a telephone booth type setting at the top of the slide. Once inside, the floor drops out and you go down the slide.
2) The Storm: A fast tube body slide that shoots you into a funnel where you drop through a hole in the bottom into a 7 foot pool.
3) Disco H2O: Same idea as the Storm but in a family tube type setting.
4) *MUST DO* Wake Zone: Knee Board or Wake Board around the perimeter of the Wet n' Wild lake. This only opens at certain times of the day however it is an experience that is amazingly fun and most importantly FREE!!!!

Though these are only 4 of the many rides at Wet n' Wild, I must say that even if Disney combined the rides of both of its water parks, it would still lack the variety that Wet n' Wild has. Not to mention, for $49, you can get an (Weekday) annual pass (this is the same admission for 1 day at a Disney Waterpark!!!)

Hope I could help!

My family loves Discovery Cove - swim with the dolphins is amazing and the whole day is lovely and relaxing with snorkeling... Seaworld is also a family favorite.

Looking forward to Aquatica.
Me too and the pictures look amazing!

i went to ripleys on I drive one year.

i know, it's kind of lame but it was open until midnight and i had nothing else to do that night.

I thought Ripleys was really fun when we went....not at all what I was expecting, and we had tons of laughs!! The last exhibit, personally, was the best! (If you've been there, you know what I'm talking about!). It was worth the admission for the 3 hours that we were there.

This year, we are going to Flights of Fantasy...a plane museum. Not exactly my thing, but my BF is almost more exhited about this place then USO itself (I said almost....). It's out of Orlando, but not as far as the Space Kennedy Center.

Ripleys is around $19 to get into for the day....you get $2 off using your Orlando Magiccard (if you don't have one, go to this website: http://www.orlandoinfo.com/vacationkit/.

Flights of Fantasy, you can get a coupon if you sign up through their website here: http://www.fantasyofflight.com/coupon.htm

Don't forget about GatorLand!!! Watching big alligators use their tails to jump out of the water to go after meat is very cool. I didn't try the Gator nuggets, but I've heard they're good.

Gator Nuggets - like, real gator? Like, EATING A GATOR?? OMG - I might have to go just for this. Us Maine gals don't get a chance to eat gator all that often! :rotfl:
