what on earth is.......

Sorry I think that they are disgusting, especially the curried ones at Boma!! Scones should only be eaten with cream and jam.

I don't think the ones at Boma are curried, I think it's the meat based stuff that comes with them.

I'm a vegetarian so I ask the chef for a plain biscuit and it doesn't taste curried to me...

Oh, and I love them! :)

They're not scones though. They resemble a scone in appearance only, but texture and taste make them completely different.

Never had Biscuits and Gravy - mainly because I thought the gravy was like a watery porridge (and I can't stand things like that). Quite glad I haven't tried them if the gravy is actually sausage based... I'm vegetarian! :rotfl2:

Interesting thread! :thumbsup2

I remember the first time I visited the US and was at Kuntucky Fried Chicken and they asked me if I wanted a biscuit with my chicken, remember thinking what the hell are they talking about..

:lmao: And I remember being in London (Leicester Square, I believe) at a Kentucky Fried Chicken, and trying to ask for/describe a biscuit (because my son really wanted one with his meal) and being given a look like "what the hell are you talking about?!" :lmao:

Mmmm, biscuits and sausage gravy are yummy. I grew up in the northern U.S. where this wasn't a very common item and only first tried it when I went to college down south. It took me a while, but after tasting, I loved it.

I won't begrudge anybody not wanting to try it though. I have never had a yearning to try haggis when I've been in the U.K.

I bet they did :lmao:

Haggis, neeps and tatties - yum.

Nooooooo!!! Blech!!

I agree Haggis is fantastic, most people who say yuk will have never tried it.

Can I put a vote in for black pudding too, mmmmmm.

The biscuits look good - its just that sauce!! I'm not a huge fan of sauces though, especially things like our white sauce.

I may volunteer my other half to try it - he is braver with food then me!!

Biscuits and gravy are fantastic with breakfast, I always make a point of having them. The biscuits are like a lighter verison of the scones you would put on a mince cobbler and as someone mentioned earlier the gravy is sausage based and very tasty.

Don't let the gravy part of "biscuits and gravy" scare you away from the biscuits. Getting them with gravy is just one way of eating them. Most of the time, people get just the biscuits. Popular ways of eating them include with butter, jam or maple syrup.

I used to eat a lot of black pudding & tripe (not together) not something I buy now, supermarket processed stuff is not the same as we used to buy from market stalls 20-30 years ago.

Biscuits are delicious, never tried it with the gravy though. My BIL wanted me to bring some back when I went to NYC last year, don't think they would have survived the flight
