What Not To Wear?

I'm starting to think about what to pack next week... what is acceptable and what is not?

Normally, I'd wear higher heeled shoes or sandals with slacks or a skirt with various styles of tops for dinner, but this just doesn't make sense when touring the parks and going on rides.

So, I'm assuming the majority of restaurants at dinner time have guests who are very casually dressed. I wouldn't normally be wearing runners or walking sandals in a restaurant, but I don't see any other way around it while doing Disney.

I've got some very casual cargo type pants with zip off legs, the kind that convert to shorts. I'm hoping these will come in handy if it is cool in the morning or evening and warmer in the afternoon.

I am also planning on one pair of capri or cropped pants and one pair of full length pants. We will only be there for 6 days, so these 3 pairs of pants seem plenty.

I can match these up with a casual t-shirt and sweater or with a matching sweater set or a blouse and jacket to dress things up a bit.

But I think I'll still have to wear either runners or walking sandals, the kind with velcro straps across the foot and ankle.

What do you think?

I think you will feel comfortable in any park restaurant in sneakers, walking shoes or sandals. Casual attire is more the norm than the exception at the parks, which after all, cater to families that include small children.

The only exceptions I can thinks of would be in the nicer resort restaurants, although I think the only Disney restaurant with a 'dress code' is Albert and Victoria's at the GF.

Personally, I go for comfort over style, whatever it takes to keep you comfortable for the day is far better than dealing with fussy clothing and shoes. Means you can stay at the park longer!

 :hyper:  :hyper:

The comfort of your feet should be main concern while in the parks, and the in park restaurants and most resort restaurants welcome guests wearing shorts and sneakers or park attire. There are a few with a dress code, but just the very upscale restaurants.

I would not worry too much about what to wear, WDW and all of Orlando is a pretty casual place.....:sunny:

Sounds good to me. I guess I just needed some reassurance. My number one concern is comfort, especially for my feet!

I will be bringing both runners and walking sandals, so at least I have a couple of choices. After the parks I will switch to my Mephisto's, similar to Birkenstocks as I can't live without them!

Won't wear them in the parks again, however. As I lost one on our last trip on a ride in the parks. It was eventually retrieved, but realized that a loose fitting sandal was too hazardous.

Be sure to check the weather in Orlando for that week before you leave home! I got stuck one year in very cold weather in November. I searched the parks for gloves and they were all sold out! People had hats and scarves on that year! Burrrrrrr. You also don't want to get stuck without a rain poncho or umbrella either if that is the forecast. I usually go onto the weather channel before my trip.

stock up on rain ponchos, a mini umbrella, and outerwear such as gloves and mittens, scarves, etc. at your nearest $1 store. That way, if you loose a few, it won't matter. For a buck--who cares!

I know it's been said before but it can't be stressed enough--go for EXTREME comfort in the shoes department. You will be very sorry if you go for looks and end up with a blisher on day one.
Dress up from the waist up with some special pieces or jewelry. from the ankles down, don't mess around.

I understand your situation as I am not a sweatshirt, gym shoe type girl. We leave next week and most of what I packed includes capris and nice tops. I have a cute pair of dress flats that will go nicely with all of them. I am also taking at least one pair of heels because of some nice dinners we have planned at the hotel. I won't need to wear them too long. I also packed several styles of ponchos that are popular now. The right style of one can really dress up an outfit.
DH thinks I'm nuts because I had to write all of my "outfits" down on the itinerary. I tell him that he doesn't understand.
One thing I regret about past WDW trips is in all the pictures I looked like a bum. Well, not really, but I'm dressed way different than normal. Hopefully, I won't have that problem this trip.

I just got back :( !!!

I'll tell ya, we were HOT the whole time ! One day was high 80's and humid ! I woulda loved sweatshirt weather !!!

Do not wear anything new on your feet ! Only worn in shoes. I did sneakers and had no problems, but MIL wore a new pair of sneakers and got a BIG blister, our legs were sore and we crawled back to the hotel each nite LOL . We stayed out ALL day till after 12am !!!

Personally, fashion doesn't mean much to me at Disney, comfort is key !

I loved the fact that any shopping at stores or pictures purchased from rides were delivered to the hotel or you can pick them up at the end of the night near the gates ! I didn't have to carry anything !!!! What a great deal that is !!!

Free hands and comfort is what you'll want for sure.

Best of luck !

Lisa
