"What Not To Wear" - Show is on again May 29

You are such a good sport to answer everyone's questions here.

I loved the show and you looked great!

I loved the outfits you got. To be honest, I love all the Disney characters, but I don't wear them on my body. I did like the Mickey purse though. It hurt when they through them away.

I was sad to see that purse go but it had run its course. It was purchased for my birthday by a friend who found it at a thrift store and I had used it literally every day since. It had stains on it from makeup spilling in it and blotches from being caught in the rain. That poor purse!

Would it be wrong to send a little something Disneyfied to Kelly c/o the PBS station in Philadelphia?

:rotfl: you are too sweet! I actually don't work for PBS though. And I don't work on that 'set' that they showed on the show, those were some props that What not to Wear had rented and brought with them. :rotfl:

I also enjoyed how you threw in a little Disney at the very end when you said " Keep Moving Forward". That was great. :thumbsup2

I knew you DISers would catch that! :thumbsup2

Kelly, I thought the whole thing was absolutely adorable!! At the end when you said something about needing training wheels for the wedge shoes, my DD9 said, "Tell her no, she needs training HEELS!" She thinks it's very awesome that she can say something to the tv and I can actually tell you! (I think it's pretty cool too.)

 Tell your DD I love her comment!

Just wanted to say you looked really awesome :thumbsup2 You were a really good sport about everything they did and said to you, sometimes that is not always the case. Stacey and Clinton look fun to hang out with, were they?

Yes, they were so nice! I was sorry to leave them - and the whole crew. Everyone on the show was so friendly and kind.

Hey I have a couple questions. How many outfits does $5000 really buy? I mean, is it enough to actually replace your ENTIRE wardrobe that they threw out? I would think since it's more expensive pieces than most of us would normally buy, that you wouldn't actually have very much.

Did Stacy and Clinton say anything on-air that completely surprised you? Like the parts where they're watching you and commenting, what did you think of what they were saying? It must be so weird to watch people basically talking about you behind your back, on television!

Did they pick the outfits for you to wear in the 360 mirror, or did you just try on a bunch of your stuff and they pick and choose what to air?

Yes, it does buy a lot. They took me to a lot of practical stores! You saw me hit those little boutiques on the first day, but after the cameras shut off and the crew went home, a few of the crew members took me on a spree through stores like Banana Republic & Old Navy. I really got a lot of clothes, they had to buy me another suitcase to bring them home!

The first purchase after the show would have been some new Crocs.

I know what you mean....:rolleyes1

I'm about to run out to get lunch with some friends, so I'll be back later to answer the rest of the questions! But before I go I had to address one thing:

Okay, one questions....is JC just a friend? He seems really into you!;)
I also thought the "friend" JC seemed like he has/had a crush on you.:confused3 :rolleyes1 True???
And as others have stated I think JC has something for you, he is a cutie ;)
ITA with many of the above posters: JC is totally crushing on you!!! He saw how gorgeous you are BEFORE you went on the show. Anything happening there????:lovestruc

OK I had to nip this in the bud now :rotfl: JC has been one of my best friends for years, we met in college. Actually while most of my co-workers are female, the majority of my close friends are guys. My roommate is a guy too. So JC is my wonderful, funny, thoughtful friend...sorry for the disappointment! :rotfl2: Although he is very flattered that everyone thinks he is cute ;)

Hey Kelly, I don't know if you answered yet but what show do you work on? I have 2 kids so I watch a lot of kids programing! :thumbsup2

Oh, friends can make great boyfriends sometimes too! Friendship grows you know. :rolleyes1

I had taped and watched the show this morning. It was tooo funny! You cracked me up sneaking to the World of Disney! :thumbsup2 I usually only watch the show when people I "know" are going to be on there, so this is the second time I have watched it

I have read some of your replies, so I saw where they weren't understanding the need for "park attire". Those bags could have been used at the parks!!!!!

I am not one to wear a lot of Disney stuff outside of Disney World. My kids do, but I don't wear a ton. The items I do wear are very discreet. I have a Mickey gold necklace that I wear a lot. Not obvious unless somebody looks close. I have a Mickey watch but again, it is gold so not obvious. My friend has a cute purse she got at Disney World that is not obvious either unless you look very very close! And she is a paralegal so in a professional environment too (I am just a mere legal secretary). Just some ideas to get your Disney fix without messing with the new wardrobe! ;)

I loved those outfits on the mannequins! They should have given you those! That brown one was too cute!

Anyway, loved the show. You were a great sport!

I always wondered what they did with those outfits. I find myself thinking, can I just have those? :rolleyes1

BTW, I have a mickey watch too, with little hidden mickeys as the chain on it. I love it. :thumbsup2

Well I am bummed that there was no budding romance, he did seem into you and seemed very sweet.

Keep up with eyebrow waxing, please. I thought that was where most of the dramatic transformation took place. Your old ones overpowered your face, and your face is so pretty. The makeup enhanced things but I thought the eyeborws just looked amazing.

I agree schedule with your haircuts.

Too bad about JC. You two would make a great couple. He looks just as happy as you do. Does he have an S.O.? You never know...

I don't get the TLC channel, so didn't see the show, so I would love to see some pictures. :goodvibes

Oooh me too I'd love to see some photos as obviously we don't get your version of WNTW over here!

I forgot. I've always wondered...do they let you keep anything? It always seems that they show what they are throwing away. Do you have to start your wardrobe from complete scratch?

They let me keep a lot more things than I thought they would! Maybe 10 pieces or so. One was a pink dress that you see me wearing in the secret footage when I'm talking about my style. They also let me keep the blue & white dress I wore on the first day of shopping, and the red outfit I wore on the second day of shopping. They were going to chuck that skirt because it was too long but I promised to get it altered (that reminds me...I need to get on that.)

I don't understand Nick's comment about the hairspray. :confused3

I didn't either, because they sprayed me with some! He wanted me to use styling cream, which I do now, just a little bit each day.

Do you get free hair and make-up products?????????
Not free hair stuff but Carmindy gave me a big bag of products. Eyeshadows, foundations, powder, eyeliner. Really nice of her!

Did you end up buying the first outfit that you tried on the 2nd day with Stacy & Clinton? It was the light blue top over a cami? It was so adorable. I was yelling at the Tv, "Buy it, Kelly!"

One more thing....what was your major in college? DS wants to be a producer/director of TV/film....his major is telecommunications & film.

I did buy that outfit! And my major in college was Film & Video Production. good luck to your son!

I can't imagine how I'd feel hearing all these DISers talking about seeing me on tv! It must be strange to come on and have everyone say they saw you! :)

It is weird but what's even weirder is that a lot of my friends did a google search on the show and found this thread. So now they all know my weird secret Disney life...I was trying to explain the boards to them, "You know someone will get an amazing ressie for 25% off on a split stay at WL/Poly and everyone else will want to know where they eat each day and how many times they use the monorail and whether it's smarter to start in Fantasyland and go clockwise or just run straight for Buzz and FP Space Mountain..." They were all just confused.

You know, after I went to bed last night I was thinking about this. I am really surprised that Disney allowed them to film in WoD since the show was really being negative about Disney and their merchandise. But I am glad they did allow it because that really made the whole show!

I was surprised too - you would think Disney would be very cautious about being on a show like that. The AP told me that they had never had luck shooting in WOD before. I had told her that I was hoping to go to WOD and I meant like in my spare time when we weren't shooting, so I was really surprised that they worked it out. The employees at WOD were so nice and one of the managers gave me a free Minnie Statue of Liberty stuffed doll when I left because I was just so happy to be there ::MinnieMo

So what did you have to return (you said you spent too much)? Did you buy anything with your own money? I, too, wish there was an Epcot in Philly! Great job on the show!!!
SASSY!!!

I can't remember exactly what I returned - I do know there was one dress that was purple that they returned. I was disappointed but it was expensive and I had also bought a purple & yellow dress that was kind of similar.

I know it was probably really difficult to hear but Clinton and Stacy were right on most of the time. :teacher:

No it wasn't difficult - it wasn't anything new, all my friends had been saying similar things for years!

That is so cool! Magical moments happen everyday!

I am still curious to know what the program you work for is. Or do you not feel at liberty to say?

One other thing I've been wondering since seeing the show...have you received any marriage proposals or requests for dates from strange men? I think I fell in love with you after watching and I'm a married heterosexual woman!

Haha! No I have not. How sweet of you to say

Keep Disney in your heart and out of your closet. You look marvelous. :goodvibes

Just wanted to say I love this quote! Perhaps it should be my motto

And I have to say, everytime they hand someone a $5,000 card on that show I'm always like, we could go to Disney on that kind of money, to heck with the shopping, LOL!

I know right?? I could go to the Poly for a week with $5000!

Kelly your show was great! and you looked stunning at the end. I loved your hair cut!

Couple Questions - if you don't mind.

1) Have you kept the hair cut and is it easy to fix?
2) Did they teach you any cool make-up tips that you are still using?
3) Have you reverted back to your old ways?

Thanks!
~Amanda

I mentioned a few posts back that I modified the haircut to make it grow out better. I really liked what Nick did and it was very easy to keep up but I would've had to get it cut a lot. I love what my stylist in Philly did, I will have to post recent pics at some point!
the makeup is one of the things I have really been keeping up with. Carmindy wrote me a list of all the products she gave me and how I was supposed to put them on, which was so helpful!

Your friend JC is so adorable- I had to watch the rerun of the show today to see him again, too cute..does he have a myspace?;)

Ok I told him about the comments I've received and he said it was fine if I posted a link to his myspace so here you go :p

I am such a sap - I wanted to cry when they were throwing your Disney bags away - especially when you asked if you could just keep Alice because she was your favorite!!! (was it Alice or Sleeping Beauty? - now I can't remember)

It was Alice and she really is my favorite! I love that story and I collect books & movie versions of it. The Disney one is, of course, one of my favorites next to this amazing one by Jan Svankmajer

I was just reading your July 4th trip report - are those your "red shorts" in the EPCOT picture with your parents??
Ummmm....maybe  With the Cinderella tank top, no less!

I feel like I know a celebrity!! I'm subscribing in hopes of pics!!:thumbsup2

OP, my daughter just watched it and realized she did the Disney College program with you. She just showed me pictures of you.

YES! I remember your daughter! I think I saw a picture of her that you posted a couple years ago and sent you a PM. I remember Katie well from working with her at Illuminations many nights. Please say hi to her for me!

Will you update us on how it's been for you these last 6 months? Have you kept up the look? How do you feel now? Did you buy more Disney bags & crocs to wear? Have you kept up on the plucking & tweezing of your brows?

Do we get a new, updated pic? :)

I'll have to dig up some recent pics. I hope I don't disappoint everyone, I don't glam it up like they did at my reveal every day  The past six months have been great, I have done a lot of shopping for winter clothes and it's been so much easier, especially now that I understand this whole 'layering' thing!

DDs (11 & 9) noted that Stacy said that the Mickey BAG sucked and not Mickey himself. They also said that it was perfectly clear that Stacy and Clinton "are sad little people in need of some Disney Time".

Very observant of your kids - I'm sure Stacy wouldn't dare tell me that Mickey himself sucked ::MickeyMo I love that quote about S&C from your kids, that's hilarious!

OK, now that a 51 year old said that.... you started out great, and ended up EVEN GREATER!. never mind about the 'disney stuff". you knew that was coming from the get go. ok, keep the alice, mickey, bags, but the new stuff, you have been hiding what the good lord gave you! .... your face is beautiful;) like I said on nebo's thread, wish I had another son to fix you up with!!!
you have that inner beauty that is um... inassuming... kinda like nebo's humor....., diamonds in the rough.. (once they undid the "rough", though, yousa yousa yousa!!!)
I'll be glad to say nebo and smidgy "knew you when...!""
ps keep a little bag they don't know about, with an alice bag and crocs:rotfl:

Diane you are the best! :teeth: Thanks for the lovely comments! It is so neat to have you guys watch the show because I feel like I know you so well from all of Nebo's stories!

Very COOL! My Dh and I would like to work there someday when we retire.....many, many years from now, unfortunately!!! I think he would be a great safari driver at AK and I think I would like to be in a store somewhere along Main Street!!

I would love to go back someday, I had a blast. I would love to work on the Great Movie ride or the Safari or something.

I have another question besides what this stuff is you are putting in your hair... Could you return the shoes that are too small? If you got them at Macy's, they should be able to make an exchange? it's a shame to spend money on shoes you can't wear!!!

I am so glad you're answering all the questions! Oh & what is the shimmer eye shadow you are using?

I was able to return one of the pairs of shoes from Macy's, but unfortunately because I didn't have receipts and the other shoes were obviously worn from being on the show, I couldn't take back the others. But a friend told me about a cobbler who stretches shoes so I took them there and it made a huge difference! Now I can wear all the shoes, some just aren't preferable for a long day running around the city.
