"What Not To Wear" - Show is on again May 29

I watched this today! You seem so nice! And I think I have one of those "gypsy" skirts... haha... Anyway, I love the haircut they gave you, it was a really great episode!

DH and I watched last night. One of your male coworkers said something about how pretty you were. DH piped up and said "he totally has a crush on her!".

My DH said the same thing! Ohhhh, Kelly......do you have a new romance???

I am also very curious if you have kept up the hair and makeup as well as if you have done any shopping since and found it any easier to get things that looked good on you. I did a mini WNTW with my BIL(he buys all my sister's clothes for her!) and it helped a lot but I still feel like I sometimes flounder.

I really enjoyed your show! I thought your makeover was great. You seem like a really nice person, and very pretty, too! :)

OMG, Kelly - you are soooo adorable! ITA with many of the above posters: JC is totally crushing on you!!! He saw how gorgeous you are BEFORE you went on the show. Anything happening there????:lovestruc

Anyway, you have a delightful personality - - I loved watching your episode. You got a GREAT haircut! And some really cute outfits.

So now we all want an update!

DDs (11 & 9) noted that Stacy said that the Mickey BAG sucked and not Mickey himself. They also said that it was perfectly clear that Stacy and Clinton "are sad little people in need of some Disney Time". We all thought they were too mean, but we all also agreed that YOU ROCKED! My girls said you were a great example of how to handle mean people and they LOVED your side trip to WoD and the keychains made us all :lmao: Forget Clinton, YOU'RE the "sassy" one now, baby!

OK, now that a 51 year old said that.... you started out great, and ended up EVEN GREATER!. never mind about the 'disney stuff". you knew that was coming from the get go. ok, keep the alice, mickey, bags, but the new stuff, you have been hiding what the good lord gave you! .... your face is beautiful;) like I said on nebo's thread, wish I had another son to fix you up with!!!
you have that inner beauty that is um... inassuming... kinda like nebo's humor....., diamonds in the rough.. (once they undid the "rough", though, yousa yousa yousa!!!)
I'll be glad to say nebo and smidgy "knew you when...!""
ps keep a little bag they don't know about, with an alice bag and crocs:rotfl:

I made sure I TIVO'd your episode and I'm watching it right now!!
I love the Disney things I've seen so far ;)

I saw it too, well not the whole show because I had to leave to DD's basketball game :guilty: so i didn't see the makeover.

Kelly, I think you're a nice and sweet person!

I finally watched it last night, I had to record it due to a house full of squealing 11 year old slumber party guests.

I thought you seemed like an incredibly sweet person! I hate the ones who come on and are all sassy and talk back.

I was appalled at their disgust for the Disney purses, man I have so many, that's all I carry. But the fact that they said they couldn't understand why a 24 year old would want stuff at the WOD store, hmph!

I have a lot of the same questions everyone else has, so I'll keep checking back hoping for answers!!!

You walk better than I would if they stuck me in heels!!!! I loved the outfit you had during the end credits, I think it was a black and white top under a jacket or sweater? It was really cute!

Ok first of all, thanks to everyone who has posted such kind compliments! :grouphug: You are all so nice and it was great to feel like I had an army of disney enthusiasts watching along with me. Because, you know...you GET IT. :teeth:

"Alice falling down the rabbit hole" :lmao:, I love it already!!

Haha I KNEW when I said that line that they would use it!!

Crocs are ok...but cow shoes!:scared1: :happytv: :happytv: :happytv:

Oh boy I loved those cow shoes! I had them for about four years. Jakkie was correct that I wore them to work many days a week and they were so old and ratty. I don't know if you could tell when she was showing them off in my closet, but there was a huge hole in one of the toes :scared:
You may have noticed that those cow shoes were never seen again in the episode...before I knew I was going to be on the show, I finally realized that the hole was beyond repair and I threw them out :rotfl2:

Ok, I've been dying to buy that crystal carriage tank top every time I go to Disney!

I got to keep that!! I didn't know this, but whatever outfit you are wearing the day they go through your clothes and throw them away, you get to keep! They can't make you get naked, I suppose. I lucked out with that one! :p

I'm watching!!
Kelly you're so cute! I love your glasses! Where did you get them?

Thanks! :goodvibes I got those pink glasses at Lens Crafters about 7 years ago. In typical pre-WNTW fashion, my mother actually picked them out for me  I still have them but WNTW did buy me a pair of new glasses and I love them! They are tortishell. I will have to post pictures of them at some point.

I am planning to post a lot of pics of stuff I bought on the show - there were so many cool things I got that you don't see on the episode. You REALLY have to spend that $5000! It actually ended up being only about $4000 on clothes, because my new glasses were $500 and I also spent about $500 on tailoring almost every single item I bought. I am excited about the new world of alterations. I have pants that FIT!!!

I wanna take them out. How dare they throw the purses out!! I would have pretended that I didn't have them. LOL

I wish I could've but they already knew because they had been spying on me for 2 weeks!

Whoa! "I'll give you $20!" Harsh words Clinton.
He said some harsher things than that! But they all got cut out (thank goodness)!

I wish there was an EPCOT center in Philadelphia too!!

This is very cute.

But I want to know, did it work?? Have you changed your style??

I think I have adjusted. My hair is different because although I liked Nick's cut, because it was razor-cut it didn't grow out well. This meant I would have had to get a haircut every 4 or 5 weeks :scared: That's what, $750 a year? I have a really wonderful stylist I go to in Philly and have seen him twice since the show ended to find a cut that will work (and that grows out well so I only need to get it cut every couple of months). He is awesome and I am happy with it. I will have to post pictures at some point.
I think I have been doing well with the clothes and makeup, although I have not been doing so hot with the eyebrows. Watching the show reminded me of that!

Don't forget to tell us what we are supposed to use instead of hairspray!!

When you get your hair done, get your eyebrows done at the same time, have it done with wax, doesn't hurt!!! I have a razor cut style & I do have to get it done every 5 weeks or so, but I don't mind, I like it :goodvibes

I can't wait for you to post pictures!

Kelly I have to ask you how you enjoyed NYC??

It was so fun to have a week in NYC. I grew up in Connecticut, about 60 minutes from Manhattan, and I used to visit a lot in high school but not so much since I moved to Philly. I got to meet up with a few of my friends from NYC the first couple of days we were there, but then my days with WNTW got so busy that all I would do after shooting wrapped was go back to my hotel room and sleep

Barbie Jacket. :lmao:

You know I loved that jacket but I wasn't TOO sorry to see it go...it was very itchy to wear

Did you buy those red "slidy" shoes? They were cute!

I didn't - for some reason throughout the whole process I was adamantly against getting any shoes that showed my toes. I just thought that was so weird  At the end they did convince me to buy a pair of open toed shoes (you see them in the purple dress I wear towards the end). They are too small though so I don't wear them much.

Another question: Where did you work at Disney?

I was on the college program in 2001/2002 and worked at Epcot. I was a 'Rescue Ranger' which meant I filled in around the park whenever someone needed help. It was great because I got to work at all the special events - Food & Wine, Candlelight Processional, Steiff Bear Convention. I also worked at Illuminations a lot.

Did they really make you pay for the Disney stuff! I love the amusement park music they are playing while they shop with you!:happytv:

No they didn't! I really didn't spend that much there. I got two pairs of socks, the keychains, and a shirt. Did anyone see the shirt when I was in the check out line? ;) Did you see what color it was?
And no, I never wear it to work! :teeth:

They really put their hands all over you :rotfl:. How did you feel about that?

I didn't care. In the dressing rooms when I was trying on clothes there was a stylist in there with me. We were short on time and this woman literally would put clothes on me & take them off. That sort of thing doesn't bother me at all but I'm sure many people would have been freaked out.

Those red sparkly shoes are too cute and still give a hint of your fun personality.

I love those shoes!!! I call them my Dorthy shoes because they're ruby slippers

I love the hair! I want to get mine done like that now. How has the upkeep been on it?

Although I mentioned that I got a longer cut once I was back home because I didn't want to have to get it trimmed every 5 weeks, the upkeep for the hair itself was very easy. No comb or anything - just put a little styling gunk on your hair and run it through.

I LOVE that you are responding to some of the questions!! You were a very popular topic of conversation in our house this weekend!!!!!

No not tweezers. Ouch.

You arte absolutely beautiful! DId the eyebrow tweezing hurt?

No it didn't bother me. She also bleached my eyebrows and i am so glad they cut that part out! I looked so weird with bleach all over my eyebrows, and when she took it off, they really didn't look any lighter to me. I know Nick dyed my hair, but that didn't look like a different color to me either :confused3

I'd LOVE to learn to do my eyes like yours are in the show...

GORGEOUS!!

Carmindy gave me a ton of makeup to take home which was so nice of her! The eyes are really easy, just a shimmer over the entire eye followed by a darker color on the lid.

When whats her face put her hand into the larger bag and pulled out the smaller one, I thought they were going to say she could keep a smaller Mickey purse in there.

You know I said that bag looked like a diaper bag, but they cut it out for some reason

So have you shopped since taping the show? Or are you waiting another 10 years?

Actually i've done a lot of taping since the show. We shot in July so I brought home 1 sweater & 3 pairs of pants. It gets COLD here in the winter! I have done a lot of shopping and I think I've done a good job of sticking to the rules. I even got all my pants altered.

Very COOL! My Dh and I would like to work there someday when we retire.....many, many years from now, unfortunately!!! I think he would be a great safari driver at AK and I think I would like to be in a store somewhere along Main Street!!

Oh you are too stinking cute! And that last blue dress is beautiful on you too. I think the point is is that you are beautiful. (but did you buy some new crocs?)

Well I think I have to be cautious about answering this question in a public forum. Can I just say that I did purchase a black pair of maryjane shoes, and your can decide for yourself what kind of shoes they were ;)
And for the record I have worn said shoes twice: both times to the beach. I am being good!!

Kelly, that was a GREAT episode and you are just TOO CUTE!!! I love all the outfits, esp those sexy red shoes.

I loved those shoes but I can't wear them much because they were a size too small! I had them stretched and they are a little more comfy now. I won't be going dancing in them though
I ended up with a lot of shoes that were too small because for some reason when we went to Macy's to get most of my shoes, I was fitting into size 6.5  I can't remember EVER being that size. I'm usually a 7.5. It was so weird.

What I want to know is are you still dressing the way they taught you to, or did you go back to the way you dressed before???

I do have some Disney clothes still, like the one I bought at WOD and my Cinderella tank (and an Alice shirt that JAKKIE bought me for my birthday - on the condition I never wear it to work  ). But I only wear them on weekends when I'm hanging out with my friends. I think I have done a good job of keeping up with the clothes.

I LOVE that you went to World of Disney. That's great. And the gifts were sweet. But yes, spill!!
Are they that hyped up ALL the time???

Everyone was so nice. Nick & Clinton especially, they were so talkative and friendly. Stacy & Clinton really seemed interested in helping me, not just making good TV. In between takes when the cameras were off they would talk to me and make suggestions and pick out clothing for me to try. They were awesome.

You are adorable!:thumbsup2
I can see at the end you were walking around Olde City. Which hotel was that where you family met you?

We had the reveal party with my friends and family at Zee Bar, which is in Northern Liberties. I had never been there before - it was some sort of private club. What a crazy day that was! Normally they finish shooting with Nick & Carmindy on a Thursday and send you home and then you shoot the end credits in your hometown and go to your party on Friday, but I had to work on Friday! So we worked with Nick & Carmindy in the morning, and then around 2p we shot the end credits in NYC (in parts that they felt "looked like Philly" ) and then around 6p the director and I were supposed to hop a train to Philly. Well the train was almost an hour late, so we got to the club around 8:30 (everyone had just been waiting around for over an hour) and we shot there, and then we went back to a hotel to shoot my final interview, so by the time I got to sleep it was around 1a (and I had to be at work at 7a) :faint: Long day but worth it!

Great show!!!:) You looked sensational!!! I haven't had a chance to read all the other posts but I have to ask, "What did you do with the eyeglasses?

I kept my eyeglasses and they also bought me new ones, which you don't see on the show. I wore contacts for the rest of the episode.
I actually wear contacts half the time anyway, you can even see in the beginning of the first day (when I am arriving in NYC and dropping off my clothing) that I am wearing them. We decided to keep my glasses on for most of the 'before' stuff because it made the 'transformation' more dramatic.

You look great! I love the hair and the clothes were all so cute! I didn't think it was fair that they wouldn't let you keep one of those Disney bags. You should have said you would only use it for the beach or something. Did you ask them if they have ever been to Disney? edited to add: They were way too mean to you! Or maybe I'm defensive because you're a DISer?

You have no idea how hard it was to try and tell these people that I really did need 'park clothes'! As it was they wanted to get rid of all my sneakers. I didn't have a car at the time and rode my bike everywhere so that would not do. I managed to get a really cute pair of LIME GREEN sneakers so I could have something to ride around the dirty Philly streets in!
I don't think I asked if they had ever been to Disney, I should have! They did seem to know a little about it - Stacy did mention 'Epcot Center'!
I didn't feel they were mean to me at all but I think a lot of it is that I work in the industry and have worked on similar shows so I know it is not personal and it's just for TV.

SO I'm sure a million people have asked you, but are you still dressing like they taught you?
Or have you gone back to your thrift store ways?

You know I don't think I have set foot in a thrift store since July!

I have another question besides what this stuff is you are putting in your hair... Could you return the shoes that are too small? If you got them at Macy's, they should be able to make an exchange? it's a shame to spend money on shoes you can't wear!!!

I am so glad you're answering all the questions! Oh & what is the shimmer eye shadow you are using?
