"What Not To Wear" - Show is on again May 29

Congrats! This is one of my favorite shows. Beware of the 360 degree mirror;) !

really??? i wonder if it is really me, or one of the other 2 people in philly that they are doing episodes on. i haven't been able to find the article - was the person in the article named kelly?

Gee, I'm sorry. It wasn't you after all. I thought it kind of weird when they said they surprised the person, an interior designer, at the Waterworks restaurant. I think that's where it was. And you said they broke in on a meeting. I just assumed you had a luncheon meeting. It was a very small piece in the Magazine section. I just tried bringing it up but can't find it. Different name also.

I think I'm the only one who thinks Nick is not a hair miracle maker. I've seen some total flops, and if he came near me with those chopping shears I would run.

No, you aren't the only one.

 Now, just a guess, but Philagoofy and Philadisney certainly sound like you are close together and you both seem to know the value of an Alice purse.................:scratchin

Yo, I guess us Philadelphians just like everyone to know where we're from. :rotfl:

oh i love the waterworks! lucky person, whoever that was. i think there were three or four of us philadelphians who were picked for the show.

congratulations :)
i love that show. How exciting!!!

Philadisney, very cool! Enjoy! :cheer2:

I always wondered if Clinton and Stacy understood budgets. I have to wonder what either of them would they do if they encountered *gasp* Marshalls. Do you think they have ever shopped in one (or the like)?

OMG, SHUT UP! I'm so jealous, I love that show! (Uh, though, I agree with them about the jacket. ;) And, may the DIS forgive me, the Crocs.) You'll have to post all the details that you're allowed to. And I'm sure someone here can tape the episode for you in September!

I'm so jealous of you right now!!!!!!

I need a wardrobe intervention too!!!!!

Well, if you're happy that's great. But judging from your picture, I just really don't understand why you'd be nominated. I think you look adorable!

Of course, I don't really get why other people care how anybody dresses in the first place. I may not like what they wear but if they like it, so what? :confused3

And as for all the "rules" they set, I've always wanted to scream, "I'M OVER FORTY! I SHOP IN THE JUNIOR DEPARTMENT, WEAR SHORT SHORTS, SHORT SKIRTS, AND HAVE CARTOON CHARACTERS ON MY T SHIRTS AND I DON'T CARE WHAT STACY AND CLINTON SAY!"

I had to laugh at this because my entire wardrobe is so casual, shorts, T-shirts & flip flops. If they approached me for the show I'd honestly say no thank you. Reason being I probably wouldn't wear anything they'd approve of on a daily basis and I can't afford to replace all the thing they'd throw out.

To the OP- Good luck and have fun!

Wow, that's amazing! I love this show! It's so exciting that a DISer will be on it. Tell us what it was like when it's all over.

And make sure you wear lots of lime green when you go! :thumbsup2

But they have sent the guests to shop at places like Loehman's, H&M, and Century 21. Does Marshalls even have a store in Manhattan?

I hear you! I love the show, but know I could never be on it! As much as I'd like to be a bit dressier, it's just not me. I work in a factory, so jeans or shirts and t-shirts in my normal attire. I love my sweats, walking barefoot, cozy clothes. I guess if I worked in a different environment, it would be different. I'm just a very casual person, it drives DH nuts sometimes, but that's just the way I am!
I can't wait to see OP on the show though! How very cool for you!

I'd love if someone turned me in.. I wear almost nothing but jeans and tees and half the time I wear them untill my DH complains I stink (I really do that.. I wear my jeans untill they start falling down since the losen as I wear them). I have not done anything with my hair since... well ever, and I do not wear one bit of makeup. I am,, a SLOB. Of course after the show I'd be right back in my jeans and tees so I guess there would be little point!

I wonder though, if you just don't realize how nice it can feel to dress up? Maybe you'd try some stuff on and feel really good about it and make a switch? Or the positive reinforcement when people see "the new you" and compliment you on it :confused3

Sometimes I really don't think they do understand that not everyone can always afford to buy $115 pants and so forth.

OP- Congrats! That should be a lot of fun!

Oh wow how exciting!!! Try to enjoy yourself. ;) And please give the DIS a shoutout! :thumbsup2

Whatever you do, don't let them throw out anything that is lime green!!!

I hope you have a wonderful experience and I am looking forward to seeing your episode on TV.

today i packed up most of my clothes and put them in a big box to ship to them, which was crazy, because i had a work emergency and couldn't get around to packing until 2:40pm (the local fed ex closes at 3pm on saturdays). i made it with a minute to spare. eek!
tomorrow i'll be off!

Have a great time, and please please pretty please write a "trip report" about your experience when you get back! :hyper:
