What Not To Wear - I'm disgusted

I was aggrivated too!! Even after Nick showed her the tape of other participants with long har - seeing how happy they were with their cuts....she still would not relent....

I love the show - I can just imagine what Stacey and Clinton would have to say about my sweatshift and turtleneck collection!!

I am a person who will not cut my hair. I happen to think that it is much easier to work with and I have many options to style my hair, as opposed to ONE style for those who have very short hair. But I disagree that anyone who care what they look like has shorter hair. I know some very beautiful ladies who have never cut their hair, as well as some who cut their hair who don't take care of themselves.

I didn't see this particular show, so I have no idea if this was a religious decision or if it was just her personal choice, and I didn't see her attitude. She should not have nominated herself for the show because she knew she would not allow them to cut her hair.

Most people would probably say that I need to be on that show because I am the most fashion unconsious person I know. But I wouldn't because of my convictions against cutting my hair. I would like to see this show because I would like to see what they ended up doing with her hair.

He was not suggesting she get a short style...but her hair was hanging waaay past her chest, to her waist and I am sorry but it looked DEAD!!! It was horrid...
he did nothing to it...said there was nothing he could do for her if she was not willing to part with even a few inches of dead hair...PLUS her eyebrows!!!!
GOOD GRIEF!!

I am with you on long hair but I think the problem was SHE nomintated HERSELF and then refused to change...she had a pretty bad attitude about the whole thing actually

why go on a make over show if you are not going to get a

MAKEOVER!!! :rotfl2:

Yeah, I was aggravated by this episode, too. Just ask my DH how I went on and on about it! How inconsistent is this -- she viewed wearing makeup as too superficial and shallow but insisted that her hair is "who she is." Come on, if my HAIR is who I am, I'm in trouble!

I'm almost happy that I missed this episode. I know it would have really irked me. What did Stacey and Clinton have to say about it at her reveal?

yes - I would like to know what S&C said. I didnt see the episode - I saw the preview and she seemed like a witch.

I thought Stacy and Clinton just seemed relieved for the whole thing to be over. They were polite, but I thought they were glad to be done with her. It was a disappointing episode, for sure!

When I was watching it last night I was so frustrated that she wouldn't even let Nick cut a couple inches off. Just to make it more healthy and give it ANY style. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this. I think her hair would have actually looked pretty nice if it had been cut a little and was given a style. Oh well, she shouldn't have nominated herself.

I totally agree! I couldn't stand watching her, and was dumbfounded by the fact that she refused to let Nick cut her hair. I didn't think she looked much better, even with the clothes!

i watched this last night
this lady was apain
she was very negative about everything
bet they were sorry when they picked her after she would not cut her hair
she kept saying it was her beliefs what were they ??

I didn't see the show, but I can imagine what her hair looked like. Long hair can by stylish and look nice, but it needs to be kept well maintained and regularly trimmed so the ends don't look frayed and dry. I think people can take it to the extreme (sounds like this gal did) and then the hair just looks like a stringy blob rather than something to be proud of. I have seen plenty of makeovers where the hair stylist has shortened the length by a couple of inches, maybe added some face framing layers, and it looks great.

I didn't watch last nites show. But I hate when people freak about their hair. she could of just had Nick Shape & trim it-he has done that before. Or it could have been a chance to give her hair to locks for love.

As it has been said why nominate your self or even agree to do the show if you are not going to acept change.

I have a couple of friends with really long hair that keep it trimed & shaped & it is beautiful.

I watch this show religiously and missed this episode. From the sounds of it, I'm glad I did!

I'd have been mad, too! It drives my DH crazy...when it comes time for Nick to do the haircut, I am yelling at the screen. "Geez, loser, let him cut it! It does grow back...it's just HAIR!"

BUT, I am one that goes to the stylist and tells them to do whatever they want. Here's what I can spend...what do you want to do? Cut it short, leave it long, highlight it, color it red, what would look good. I figure it'll grow back out shortly, and I'll have something different for awhile.

DH refuses to watch with me and plays games on the computer instead! :)

I saw that show too and I couldn't figure out why she would bother with the process if she didn't want to get the hair cut. I mean she must have known about it beforehand. I saw the amount that Nick suggested cutting off. I still thought that was too long but at least it would have tidied up the bottom (I'll bet she's got a million split ends!). It's just hair! It'll grow back and I for one would have jumped at the chance to get my hair cut by a famous stylist ... but that's just me. :goodvibes

My friend noted that she also didn't seem very interested in the makeover that Carmindy gave her. I thought she looked very good afterwards but she seemed to have the "Yeah whatever" attitude. She thinks that maybe she went on the show just to get some clothes and resell them *lol* ... who knows! Maybe she just changed her mind after getting to NYC.

I have long hair and keep it in long layers with bangs - and I still have many options for styling. I think the layers even give me MORE options - it looks great when I curl it.

I have a serious question - is there a religious reason why a female would not cut their hair? Off the top of my head I can't think of any...

Everyone's is entitled to their own opinion, that's for sure. But it's a fact that long hair gets dried out and split ends - it needs to be kept trimmed to keep it looking healthy.

Meanwhile, she agreed to play the game, and then she refused to play by the rules. I hope they made her pay for the clothes!

OK, I am mad about that people got to nominate themselves! I have been trying to get people to nominate me and no one will, darn it! I want the chance to nominate myself. :rotfl:

My SIL had hair like that for years and was afraid to cut it, it is really kind of amazing how intense that fear can be for some reason. However, she did finally cut it, and was actually surprised that she was happy with the results.

Ok so if she had religious reasons she would have been much better off at least STATING that it was something religious other than "no, I don't want it cut." (although I have a hard time believing that any Higher Spiritual Being would have something against me cutting my hair on a regular basis... ) Wasn't it past her butt?? I swear it was SO long there is NOTHING that could be done with it. Nick pretty much told her that too.

For those who want to defend long hair- you must watch this episode. I think it goes beyond what you are imagining. Her split ends were GROSS. Her hair hadn't been touched in years. If you want to have long hair but at least keep it trimmed and healthy -by all means!

And I'm sure part of the reason they picked her wasn't just because she had a horrible fashion sense and heinous eyebrows- but because she pulled the hair out of that god awful BUN and showed how long it was during the 360 degree mirror in the "tryouts"! Almost like "look at me- I need some help- this hair sucks" and then she didn't even let them TRIM it!

I'm still pissed about this show.

And I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that I don't want this woman as my psychologist if she ever gets back to school to get her degree.

If anyone is interested in catching the rerun, I believe it will be on March 18 at 2:00pm eastern.

Oh God! I watched the rerun this morning and I was so upset, I changed the channel after that, that lady was so stupid, the hair was nasty long and ugly. I was wonderig too, why does she go there and take the 5K and doesn't agree on the change.

I didn't see it but from what you're saying they should have made her give everything back. I don't get people that have such a strong hold on their hair :confused3 .
I don't either. It's just hair. It will grow back. If someone wanted to cut all of mine off and then would give me $5000 for clothes. Bring on the clippers. :cool1:

I agree that people can have pretty long hair. However, around here, it seems like the people I see with extremely long hair do not take care of it properly. Even when growing hair long, it needs regular trims- split ends are not attractive, and trims help keep it healthy. Also, many of the girls around here with really long hair have very frizzy hair- I want to shake them by their shoulders and scream "Use Conditioner" at them. Also, if you can actually style your long hair, great. Again, most of the girls I see with very long hair wear it in either a ponytail, a basic bun, or a half-up/half down style. I have no problem with long hair; I hate unhealthy hair, no matter the length.
