What Not To Wear At Walt Disney World - Getting ready for the next one -Show on again

Great trip report! Oh my goodness, my brother and I went on Spaceship Earth a million times when we went in March. My brother had a weird face when they took the picture the 1st time, and watching that video at the end, we were howling. :rotfl: We kept getting back on and we would start breaking into laughter for the whole ride. Good times.

I wonder if there are any Disney albums with the Humphrey Hop on them. I would love a good quality mp3 of that song. Catchy!

I have this song! It's on my Disney 5 CD collection. If you tell me how, I can send the track to you.

I loved your update. I had to laugh about Ellen's Engery Adventure. It really doesn't seem to have a point. How funny.

It sounds like you had a fantastic trip. Thanks for sharing. :goodvibes

Hi Kelly,
Enjoying the updates - I'm full of a bad cold (pining for my almost holiday in WDW?), so I'm glad of anything that cheers me up!
I'll give careful consideration to your TR, and may possibly cross Ellen's Energy Adventure of our 'to-do' list - unless it's raining and we have nothing else 'to-do'.
Love the photos!
Keep posting the updates!

Hey, Kelly, did you hear that Johnny Depp is going to be in the new Alice in Wonderland movie? He is going to be the Mad Hatter! :rotfl2:

I thought of you cuz Alice is your favorite! I wanted to make sure you knew about it!

Oh thank you for reminding me of that! I had heard about that a long time ago and assumed that a Tim Burton Alice movie was too good to be true :rotfl: Imdb has info on it now and it's slated for 2010. I can't wait! :hyper:

Stopping by to say Hi Kelly! :wave

Hi Shawna! Only a week left to go for you, yay!

more please ;>

I'll try to squeeze an update in this weekend! :teeth: Work has been crazy this week so I haven't had much time - tomorrow I am working a sixteen hour day :headache: I have to go over and check up on your report too!

I enjoyed your EPCOT update. Anxiously awaiting more.

Thanks! I can't believe you only have a week until your trip. Yay!!

Oh no I am sorry to hear you are sick! I hope you are feeling better and having fun planning your upcoming trip. Yes, Ellen's is a good place to escape from the rain or have a rest :rotfl2: Sorry Ellen!

I loved your update. I had to laugh about Ellen's Engery Adventure. It really doesn't seem to have a point. How funny.

It sounds like you had a fantastic trip. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! I remember going on the Ellen ride when I was on my very first Disney World trip. 20 years ago there was no Ellen, so it was just the dinosaurs by themselves. And they scared the heck out of me! I remember just burying my head in my mom's shoulder the whole time :scared:

I have this song! It's on my Disney 5 CD collection. If you tell me how, I can send the track to you.

That is awesome that it's available on a Disney CD! I wouldn't know how to tell you how to send it to me - I still haven't figured out how YouTube works :rotfl2: Maybe you could just tell me what the name of the collection is and I'll look it up on Amazon!

Alright, I'm late, but I'm here!

And I read it all!

And can I just say that I love your enthusiasm for Disney? I mean, I know we all love it, but in your pictures, you can really see it. I can't wait to read more about your happy place.

What a really nice, sweet thing to say. Thank you :teeth: Disney really is my happy place! I love that I have found these boards and all these other people who feel the same way.

Subbing...we just got back from WL. We loved it so much we booked it again for next year...I am already homesick.
Lovin' you TR though!

Thanks! I miss the WL too. I have a lot more pictures of it I need to post!

Great EPCOT update!! AGH, Is Test Track always this Busy still. I remember when that opened it was like crazy busy but I know my son will want to be on it every second of the day now so we will have to brave the lines no matter what. Fast Pass strategy in full effect!

Thanks for the Land Pictures. Dh loved them! :thumbsup2

I did eventually get on Test Track later in the week and I think it was the longest wait we had all trip! We should have fast passed it. I don't even like that ride much :rotfl2:

Hey, I resemble that remark:rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

I have yet to do Living with the Land, I think it is something my DS would really like too. It is on the must do list for next time:thumbsup2

It's one of those rides that I never plan to do and always end up on. I do like that there are always new things to see in the greenhouse!

Hi Kelly!:) So I see you standing next to Mickey. Is he your boy?(Stacey reference there.)

So did you go into Club Cool? I'd love to see if you and Jakkie tried that Beverly.

Poor Mickey, I'm afraid he's not my boy...Chip is! :squirrel: (OK that's not Chip...but that's the closest icon to a chipmunk I could find!)

Oh yes....there is some Club Cool gold coming up! ;)

I have never been on Universe of Energy. To go, or not to go in December, that is the question.....:scratchin

If you've got an hour to kill while waiting for your Fast Pass time to come up at Soarin', then I say go for it!

Great update! Love the pictures of you two from the Imagination Institute - cute!

I haven't been on Universe of Energy since high school - I don't think I'll be rushing back anytime soon!

Thanks for the reminder of the Disney Visa meet and greet thing - I'll have to check that out next month.

Looking forward to more!

I love the Disney Visa Meet and Greet! I just wish that it was more than 3 hours a day because that means there are always long lines. And there's not much to look at in that corner of Innoventions, just people playing video games and a black curtain!

Great pictures! I have almost the exact picture of lettuce from Living with the Land. Apparently I have a thing for lettuce. I can't wait to hear more about your rainy day in Epcot!

I thought that lettuce was so exciting! It was in all those weird little rows. Yes that rain was ridiculous - it's been fun to read about your experience there on the same day!

:cool1: Yeah! An update! Good stuff!

Althought I like UofE, I have always thought it was really slow moving and the part where your turning then sitting...sitting when the old fashioned radio mic is flashing is really lame.

Looks like your having fun! Can't wait for more!

Thanks! Yeah that part with the radio image does go on forrrrever. There was a teenage girl sitting behind us who stretched out on her seat and took a nap at that point!

Nice update. I love that chicken at Sunshine Seasons. It is so good!

Living with the Land is a favorite of mine. I have long had a secret desire to be an awesome gardener, but I am so not a gardener of any kind, much less an awesome one.

The picture of you girls and Minnie hammin' it up is cute!

I'm not a gardener either - people keep giving me plants as gifts and I keep killing them! It's frustrating. Now I mostly invest in dried flowers.
In the picture with Minnie, the CM taking the photo had just asked us to "act sassy" :rotfl:

You know... my DS LOVES Living with the land. I too have a fondness for grocery items. :)

You must have had a great lens with you, you got some nice shots! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Funny thing about the camera...I had two cameras. I brought Jack's gorgeous wonderful Nikon, which takes amazing pictures but is really bulky and annoying to carry. And I brought my tiny Canon, which fits in my pocket but guarantees blurriness. Our first day was a Nikon day!

Great update! Poor old Universe of Energy. The new version really is sort of bizarre. I still loved the dinosaurs though!

I like the dinos too. And the giant butterflies! The dinosaur who's nose drips on you always grosses me out though :crazy2:

Hey Kelly, I see your show is on again on TLC again tonight at 8pm ET. I never tire of seeing it.:)

I just clicked on your thread and flipped on the TV, and what do I see, but your episode of What Not to Wear. Too funny. You look so cute. I want that dress!

Hey GIRL!!

Thanks to Dawn I just caught your show! You are tooooooo CUTE!! :goodvibes

Dawn and I were laughing at the part when she said 'And there's no Epcot in Philly' & you said 'I wish' I still can't believe we ran into you there :upsidedow

Well I'm glad I finally got to see the show. Gotta be fun being on tv :cool2:

Great pics, I forgot to take any food pics! :( I will be updating for our first day soon, looking forward to more.

Soooo we were done with Future World and off to the World Showcase. I have so many fond memories of WS. Chugging a frozen margarita and jumping on El Rio del Tiempo immediately afterwards. Shilling lamb chops during the Food & Wine festival while standing in 2 feet of pouring rain and pretending to be Australian. Watching one of my co-workers pull two drunken guests out of the lagoon. Ah. Memories.
Because I habitually always turn toward Mexico to start my tour of WS (probably because Epcot’s cast building is directly behind it), I decided to mess with tradition and head right…to Canada! And the new movie featuring beloved northern actor Martin Short!
DSC_0057.jpg

We really liked Martin Short and his antics throughout the film. Until that song kicked in. Don’t get me wrong, I love American Idol and I think it’s cool that they have Canadian Idol winner Eva Avila singing at the end, but it goes on for a long time. And the song “Canada: You’re a Lifetime Journey” just doesn’t do it for me, same with the montage of Canadian scenes underneath it (because let’s face it, while the other WS films offer Eiffel Towers and Great Walls, Toronto just looks boringly like Seattle). But we were fond of Martin Short. What a crazy guy!
MARTIN_SHORT_HIGHRES.jpg

We poked around in the shops, where I sprayed myself with Root and bought my friend at home some wine magnets for her birthday. Enough of Canada, we are off to the UK! Look Jakkie, beer! And a garden that is far too rainy to sit in! And a fantastic Beatles group that isn’t performing right now! Let’s just go into a shop.
We wandered through the stores, where I briefly considered buying my dad a golf book and then figured I could find it cheaper on Amazon, and wound up in the toy store. I was thumbing through the Roger Hargreaves books
PP30521.jpg

when I heard a little voice behind me say, “Excuse me.”

I stepped aside and ALICE IN FREAKIN’ WONDERLAND walked past me.
DSC_0068.jpg

I was dumbstruck. I dropped whatever book I was holding and stumbled into a wall.

Jakkie jabbed me. “Kelly!! Get a picture!!”
I tried to remember which of the items I was holding was a camera. “I don’t know how!” Eventually my brain started orbiting back near the earth, and I snapped this:
DSC_0060.jpg

It dawned on us that the huge crowd standing near Alice had absolutely NO INTEREST IN HER AT ALL. She was frolicking alone on her little platform while everyone watched with mild interest as they waited in line to meet Pooh Bear. Disgusting.

Jakkie shoved me toward Alice and I climbed up next to her to show her my purse. She was delighted. “That’s me! How did I get on your bag?? Where did you get that?”
DSC_0063.jpg

I answered truthfully – “Ebay”. She was puzzled. “Where is that? Is it in Wonderland?”
I told her it was near the White Rabbit’s house. We took a couple of pictures, wherin I looked like a drowned rat, but a happy drowned rat
DSC_0067.jpg

Then Alice shouted that she saw the Cheshire Cat and pointed, but when we all turned to look he had sneakily disappeared again. The character greeter with Alice was amused by my enthusiasm and held an object out to me. It was shaped like a half-moon and resembled a toothy grin. “I bet you know what this is!” she said. I did of course – the Cheshire Cat’s grin – so she gave it to me. Yay! I should have had Alice sign it, but I was such a tizzy of bewilderment & excitement that I was lucky that I made it down the stairs without falling on my face. I wish I could have hung out with Alice all afternoon and had tea, but we had several countries to travel through!
And next was France. Did I mention it was rainy?
DSC_0069.jpg

Then, we were off to Morocco!
DSC_0072.jpg

I had never paid much attention to the drink stand in Morocco, but suddenly decided I needed a frosty beverage and couldn’t wait until we got to Mexico. I ordered a Sultan’s Coloda.
DSC_0075.jpg

It didn’t look like much – grayish slush – but it was amazing. I only wish I could have drank it under more pleasant circumstances than dashing to Japan in a poncho.
In Japan we checked out the tin toy exhibit, because it was INDOORS!
DSC_0076.jpg

DSC_0077.jpg

At this point Jakkie was hungry and I was kicking myself for not getting dinner reservations. She wanted sushi but the quick service place in Japan doesn’t serve it. We went to check it out anyway, but she wasn’t feeling it, so we just had a seat outside the restaurant for a bit and watched the rain.
DSC_0079.jpg

I know you have been anxiously awaiting a picture of what I looked like at this point in the stormy day, so here you go.
DSC_0078.jpg

Yup. Scary stuff.
Since the TS restaurant in Japan had a 40 minute wait, we trudged on. In China we visited the tomb soldiers.
DSC_0083.jpg

And in Norway, we of course rode Maelstrom. Polar bears. Ships. Trolls. As we splashed down in the last scene among the ocean storm, Jakkie whispered to me “I feel like I know less about Norway than I did before.”
In the shop I smeared myself with that amazing lotion they sell, and we peeked in the Stave Church
DSC_0087.jpg

And then we were done with Norway. Because I had been waiting so very, very long to see the characters from one of my favorite Disney movies – The Three Cabelleros – in their new boat ride.
DSC_0091.jpg

It was truly adorable. But then we felt rejected when we tried to put our name in at the San Angel Inn and were told they were full for the night. We went outside and stood in line for approximately 12 years at the cantina. When we got to the front I placed my order and paid, then moved aside so Jakkie could order. And then we realized that the only vegetarian option they had on the menu was nacho chips with cheese. Not the best meal ever.
I grabbed my food to go and we headed for China’s Lotus Blossom café. I used to love eating here when I was on the college program. It was the first place I ever had bubble tea! This is what bubble tea looks like.
bubbletea.jpg

It’s a cold tea drink, sometimes flavored with powder or syrup, with big tapioca pearls in it. And it is delicious.
I saw they had on the menu “Bubble QQ Tea” I ordered that and some beef noodle soup. Jakkie got some sort of fried rice. I am not sure, I was fixated on my food.
DSC_0092.jpg

So-called bubble tea, beef noodle soup, chicken quesadillas, chips and cheese (eaten at that point). The bubble tea was horrendous, it was basically a syrupy chocolate milk with little bits of gelatin in it. No tapioca pearls, gelatin! I was mortified.
Jakkie and I found a nice corner to sit in and ate and talked.
DSC_0094.jpg

DSC_0093.jpg

We were talking and talking and talking and all of a sudden heard BAM BAM BAM BAM BAAAAAAAAAAAAAANG!

Agh! Illumiations!
We quickly finished eating and dashed out to the lagoon. Which is how we ended up with this awesome, tree-enhanced view of the show. I went a little picture crazy.

DSC_0123.jpg

We ran out of Epcot, stopping at the camera center to get our free Disney Visa picture from the meet n’ greet earlier. We got the picture of us with Minnie and I gave it to Jakkie. Then we hopped on the bus back to WL.
Back at the room we had a grand surprise. I could hear something outside our window that sounded like…explosions. Pulling back the curtain-
DSC_0130.jpg

Wishes! Not much of a view but still pretty neat!
DSC_0131.jpg

Finally we were asleep by 11:30. I cannot believe I have only finished the first day! :rotfl: I am sorry for the long break, I plan to update again on Wednesday. Our first day was a long one, I feel tired just writing about it!

Okay, lol. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_g...ield-keywords=classic+disney+5+cd+box&x=0&y=0
You can also find it on ebay, which is where I bought mine. It's a fantastic set.

Cool, thank you for the link!

Hey Kelly, I see your show is on again on TLC again tonight at 8pm ET. I never tire of seeing it.:)

Thanks John! I wish I had checked this thread earlier. I was sleeping most of the weekend after a 17-hr workday on Friday :headache: and didn't really go online. I found out the show was on when a friend sent me a text message Sunday night saying "I see you on TV getting surprised by puppets"

Thanks for letting us know. I haven't seen it but will check it out!!

I just watched. It was great! :goodvibes You did such a good job!! :)

I just clicked on your thread and flipped on the TV, and what do I see, but your episode of What Not to Wear. Too funny. You look so cute. I want that dress!

Thank you both! I had fun watching it last night at a friend's house. I have a DVD of it but for some reason I only watch it when it is on TV

Hey GIRL!!

Thanks to Dawn I just caught your show! You are tooooooo CUTE!! :goodvibes

Well I'm glad I finally got to see the show. Gotta be fun being on tv :cool2:

Years ago I had a dream that a new Magic Kingdom park opened in West Philadelphia. I was so sad when I woke up and it wasn't true! :rotfl: We almost had a Disney Quest here but that is a whole other story. I'll have to make do with the big Disney Store at the mall half an hour away!

Great pics, I forgot to take any food pics! :( I will be updating for our first day soon, looking forward to more.

Jakkie & Jack didn't give me too hard of a time for taking pictures of everything we ate :rotfl: I think they got a kick out of it.

I laughed so hard picturing you and your Alice encounter! How perfect that she would run into her #1 Fan!

Last night I fell asleep on the couch with the tv on. I woke up at some point and there you were in my living room! I thought, "I 'know' her" and I conked back out again. (that's what having a nasty cold will do you!)

Watching one of my co-workers pull two drunken guests out of the lagoon. Ah. Memories.

i always wondered if this ever happened. i mean, it is world showcase, home of a variety of alcoholic beverages from all over the world surrounding a huge body of water!

It dawned on us that the huge crowd standing near Alice had absolutely NO INTEREST IN HER AT ALL.

She was frolicking alone on her little platform while everyone watched with mild interest as they waited in line to meet Pooh Bear. Disgusting.

totally disgusting. alice is my second-favorite character ever! i like pooh bear, but come one.....does he even compare?????

Jakkie shoved me toward Alice and I climbed up next to her to show her my purse. She was delighted. “That’s me! How did I get on your bag?? Where did you get that?”
DSC_0063.jpg

I answered truthfully – “Ebay”. She was puzzled. “Where is that? Is it in Wonderland?”

:rotfl2: this is great!!!

so true!!!!

pretty cool that you guys saw wishes from your room! :goodvibes

Glad you got to spend a few minutes with Alice! I like the Alice bag.

Where are you keeping Cheshire Cat's grin? We'll have to remember to try to get Brooklynn one of those sometime.

That was a nice added bonus to see a few fireworks from your room.
