Next…back to the Land for Soarin’!
Well, except that it wasn’t our Fastpass time yet. And we were hungry! So we eat!
Sunshine Seasons was busybusy and we were lucky to get a table. Food was OK. Jakkie got the goat cheese and beet salad, which she liked. I got the chicken kids meal with mashed potatoes, carrots, and pudding. I am a sucker for mashed potatoes and macaroni & cheese. If they are an option, that is what I am getting.
Still have some time to kill, so…let’s go stand in this line!
There was a bit of a line for the boat ride, and for some reason we passed the time by discussing the life & times of Mariah Carey. Jakkie has never seen Glitter!! Can you imagine!
Did I mention we both have college degrees in film? Maybe ignore that fact.
Now I know most of you are sitting at home in your computer desk chairs, thinking “Boy, I wish I were Disney World right now. And if I could be anywhere in Disney World, I would be on the fabulous ride that is LIVING WITH THE LAND.” Well, allow me to take you on a virtual cruise.
Jakkie really enjoyed this attraction. Apparently in high school she worked at Whole Foods and still deeply cares about produce.
This is why I love Disney World. You learn things about your loved ones that you may never have found out otherwise.
We got off the ride and were psyched for Soarin’! Too bad it still wasn’t our fastpass time! Boo!!
Well in this case, we might as well pay a visit to the Imagination Institute. Hallo Figment. Hallo Eric Idle.
I took a picture of Jakkie inside the queue
Although I am not sure why, because I could tell you we were in line outside Space Mountain, or Yaki & Yeti, or the bathroom in my hallway, and who would know? Kind of non-descript.
The ride was what it was. I was excited to send an amusing picture of ourselves to friends and family in the Imagination Lab, but as I ran to and fro trying out the picture machines, none of them were working. I jabbed at each screen, scowled and complained “this one isn’t responding, it’s broken!” and moved on to the next. Finally Jakkie pointed out that they are not touch screens.
And a picture was taken.
Goodbye, Imagination Institute.
Hello…Soarin’? Finally? Yes!!
And we got…front row center! Hurrah. It was a wonderful thing.
After Soarin’, it was time for a special secret meeting. Yes, I am one of the elite who get to go behind the black curtain at Innoventions for the Disney Visa meet & greet.
Apparently a lot of other people are members of this elite secret society, because we stood in line for a gosh darn long time. But it was worth it!
Pluto even got down on one knee and kissed my hand. Awwwww.
He is so sweet. But not as sweet as chocolate chip ice cream in a waffle cone, which was our next stop. We sat under an awning with our cones and watched the rain rain rain come down down down. Oh yes, it was raining again. We hadn’t seen anything yet.
Ice cream also helped ease my sadness over discovering that Innoventions no longer had those fun stations where you can email goofy pictures of yourself to loved ones. I am really into things that take my picture and transmit it electronically, in case you hadn’t noticed. Any time I can remind my friends and family that I am having the best time ever while they are stuck in their cubicle – I’m there!
Let us have a moment of silence for said Innoventions picture stations….
There’s me & Mr. Vacuum, circa 2006. Meeeemories…
My sadness was short-lived, because we were about to experience the new adventures of Spaceship Earth! And an amazing glimpse into the future, which we both found hilarious.
Now we’re going to Test Track! 70 minute wait! No thank you, Test Track. I can drive poorly & speedily down the Schulkyll Expressway at home whenever I want.
In case you’ve forgotten, it was a gloomy gray day
So let’s head into Universe of Energy! Jakkie, you will love this. Ellen is in it and she is so funny! Plus…a dinosaur surprise!
Wow…this ride was not as much fun as I recalled. Jakkie was just plain bewildered. At one point as we meandered 2mph past audio-animatronic Ellen waving a stick at a stegosaurus, Jakkie turned to me and whispered “Kelly…this ride makes no sense.” I wish I had an answer for her, but I really didn’t.
Meh. I still love you, Ellen. I don’t think I’ll be hurrying back for another energy adventure, though.
And that’s it for our fantastical tour of future world! Stay tuned for our worldly travels around Epcot!
