What noises set your teeth on edge? Like fingernails down a chalkboard!!!

My youngest DD yelling Mooooom when her brothers are torturing her. She kind of screeches it from the backyard.

When I'm all relaxed and my lab barks when least expected. You usually have to scrape me off the ceiling.

The sound of a metal fork scraping the plate....

The nail clipper, unless I am using it in the bathroom.

Grinding teeth at night, my little brother still does this.

Talking and chewing with food in your mouth and your mouth open....

People chewing on wood. Toothpicks & popsicle sticks give me major heebeegeebees. And, those little flat wooden "spoons" you got w/ ice cream in school - can't touch them. I'll just go w/o the icecream, please.

Also, teeth grinding - which my 10 month old has recently discovered is his favorite thing to do.

When someone is using a pencil without an eraser and they start to erase something on the paper, the noise of the metal eraser holder scraping against the paper. That drives me nuts---I've even got the willies right now as I'm typing.

Barbara Streisand's singing voice.

:duck:

salt between a glass/ceramic/porcelain/china plate on a glass table

I know I've got others, but that's what first came to mind

Any kind of sandy grating noise, like an aluminum beach chair on cement.

Snapping/chomping, pretty much any noise associated with gum chewing.

If I am in a bad mood, hearing DH crunch his food (with mouth closed I can still hear it.)

Any kind of dog/cat yelping.

DS4 screeching.

Ajax on porcelin.

Anything gritty..

I am getting the chills just thinking about these..:(

Another one is hearing someone stir food, with a large metal cooking spoon, in an aluminium pan.

This one is the worst! Followed closely by the dentist drill. Just thinking about these 2 make me shiver.

The absolute worst sound on the planet is my 4 yo whining. If any of you don't believe me, come spend a few hours with us. You'll be begging for a ticket on the first greyhound out of town!

Loud motorcycles, especially late at night.

Whistling by some people.

The neighbor kid's battery operated car going round and round and round his house.

Just about any noise DH makes--

This isn't really an annoying noise but I hate having to hear it--I hate foul language.

I hate the sound of knuckles being cracked...and 2 of my DD's do this all the time!

Squeaking wheels on a grocery cart.....why would someone continue to push that through the whole store?

Someone warming up to spit...that yucky sound they make.

The sound of others cars stereo systems that I can hear booming inside my car...or that are so loud my house windows rattle when you pull into the driveway next to my house.

Constant humming, gum cracking and slurping (people say it makes the drink taste better- I don't get it!?!?!)

Gum chewing

Snoring

People eating on the phone

nose blowing

and (*puts on flame retardant suit) I detest the sound of my co-workers speaking in spanish. They all speak fluent English and from what I understand of their conversations; they speak in spanish primarily to segragate themselves from their fellow employees and to gossip about people in the office. The spanish language just makes me cringe...I just don't like the sound of it...I know some people love it and think it's sexy or whatever, I just really don't.

Can I steal that one? ;)

Also:

The sound of Weezy's voice/laugh on DragonTales. My dd loves that dumb show.

People slurping food. My brother-in-law slurps absolutely everything! Drinks are one thing, but how the heck does someone slurp chicken??? Don't know, but he does it.

A certain co-worker's laugh.

Dogs whining.

Kids whining. ;)

Styrofoam - makes my teeth hurt just thinking about it.

Popping gum.

mmmoooommmm!!!!! ( that's it I'm changing my name:rolleyes: )

The pitch a gym full of cheerleaders can reach. I think it goes right to my brain stem and burrows in:cheer2:
