What new thing do you absolutely have to buy this year?

Ok, for me, it's this cool spiral "trellis" gizmo that you put into a planter to get a vine to climb. I'll be using it with black eyed susan vine in a whiskey barrel that will otherwise be all purple.

Also, I just had to have one of those new hydrangeas that bloom on old & new wood since my old ones have not bloomed for several years.

I have not bought anything this year. I need to get into the ground my precious holdings received in the DIS flower exchange. Hopefully this weekend.....

new pots for container gardening, a Rockwell Fairy Garden statue,
few whimsies, plants, plants, and more plants....:daisy: :flower: :flower1: and let's not forget the :fish:

That I *still* "have to have"? A timer to water the roses without me having to be out there doing it all summer, and the hoses and drippers for a drip irrigation system for the potted flowers out back (I've got it for the ones out front). Everything else that I "had to have" I've already bought.

I bought - spur of the moment at Shoprite - a little fencing thingie. The kind that has spikes on the bottom and you just push it into the ground. It really looks like wrought iron but it's plastic and it has a design that includes a tulip shape every now and again! How's that!

DH actually spotted it and said I should get one -- I got three and am going back for more!

I used two to section off my Evening Primrose (identified with the help of you buds) near my deck and I used the third one to section off my Montauk Daisies (remember THAT story?) on another side of the deck.

Both areas are where the dogs like to lay in or cut through -- well, not so much MY dog but her cousin doggies who we frequently doggie-sit!

Like I said in another thread: Dogs... gotta love 'em! :D

Have had a shrub rose called a "knockout rose" for the past three years and notw want another one with a different color. I've heard they have pink and yellow ones.

I am starting over after many years of not gardening so my desires are pretty elementary. I really want and need one of those galvanized watering cans with the big round thingie on the spout that makes the water come out like a shower. I would also like to have a wind chime but I can't decide on one. Every time I pass one I have to sound it. I really like them all from the little tinkly ones to the deep toned ones. Maybe I might just have to buy more then one.

Your second rose, might that be a Joseph's Coat rose, Orvilleair? I know they bloom a couple of different colours.

You know Orvilleair, the couple of times so far that I've typed your name, I've almost put....Orvillear...you know, Orville Redenbacher, popcorn, ears of corn....:o :o If I mess it up, you can throw something at me, like corn maybe, okay? ;) :D

Go for it Chessie, buy several wind chimes!! ::yes:: :D

Bought a hammock for DH (shhh secret) that he'll prob never lie in.

Looking for a galvanized watering can for the garden. The old kind with the shower head. Sounds like the one Chessie is looking for. I'm tired of these plastic.

Bought a Knock-out climber rose to go on the pergola to match the 3 what I call my cheap roses (DH bought them) that are there now. It's been in the ground about a month and I'm not Knocked-out by it's performance. The cheap ones are winning.

I found my watering can the other day. It's a 2 gallon galvanized oval. The thingie on the spout, I have since been reminded, is called a rose. It is huge. I know this is strange to say but to see the water pouring out is just beautiful.

Deb, It's a Martha Stewart from K Mart

Chessie, We must be of like minds. I just learned the spout on the can is called a rose too from the Stokes catalogue.:) I bought a painted one from Wal Mart but I don't think it's galvanized so it'll prob rust out quickly. I'll try to find a KMart, thanks.
