what did you think of them? DH and I are serious movie fiends..we own WELL over a thousand dvds lol..and are always looking for new movies to watch. I thought maybe my DIS friends could let me know what they love or hate that they have seen lately (oldies are good too).

Recent movies we have seen and our opinions/ratings
we rate this way in our house:
1. movies (whether we would pay the 50$ it takes for us to go lol)
2. dvd (would we pay 20$)
3. tv (deff wait until its shown on cable..something I would be livid to have speng 50$ to see lol):

*Blind Side-movie-absolutely LOVED it, my current fav
*Where the Wild Things Are-TV-DH thought it was ok, but I didn't care for it
*Princess & the Frog-movie-whole fam liked it
*Law Abiding Citizen-DVD-eh, I got what the dad was thinking, but didn't really approve lol
*UP-movie-loved it.."SQUIRREL!"..however I bawled at the beginning and DH just thought I was a nutcase lol
*Halloween 2-not even TV-ok Rob Zombie we get that you LOVE gore..but really could you add SOME kind of plot to your movies..hated this one..funny part is our cuz took Grandma to see it in theater thinking it was like the original ones..boy were THEY surprised..poor Grandma!
*Sunshine Cleaning-DVD-DH and I liked it
*Zombieland-movie-thing about this movie is that I share some of the SAME zombie surviving methods lol
*Daybreakers-dvd-interesting spin on the whole vampire thing

Anyone else??

Alice (SyFy Channel miniseries)- I personally loved it and adored Hatter (it also does not hurt he is quite easy on the eyes).

Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day- Loved it but never hurts to know the first movie.

New Moon- Not too bad

Saw VI- I liked it but not everyones cup of tea.

cloudy with a chance of meatballs was great, even for an older audience.

Adam - about a guy with Asperger's and a girl who falls for him - absolutely loved it and I'm disappointed that it didn't get any Awards-Show-Season love

When in Rome - cute romcom with a 13 Going on 30 twist

Revenge of the Nerds - watched it for nostalgic reasons and I still love it

I usually see a movie at least once a weekend, but it's March Madness time, so movies have been temporarily shelved for basketball :thumbsup2

Men Who Stare at Goats - quirky, and weird...not horrible, not great, either.
New Moon - Love it!
Up in the Air - AWESOME

DH and i love movies, too!!

i also liked The Blind Side too. sad movie but REALLY good.

New Moon....ugh. not that the first one was amazing, but it was better than this second one. but then again i remember when i first read the books i hated the second book, too.

Brothers. it wasn't what i thought, the trailers make it look different from what it actually is, but i still enjoyed it. but then again anything with Jake Gyllenhaal in it is good to me

Alice in Wonderland.....not as good as i thought it was going to be. i didn't think it was necessary to be in 3-D .

Brothers...GREAT movie. I think it really opened up our eyes to what people actually go through when they get sent off to war. It wasn't what I was expecting, but a good movie.

Alice in Wonderland...I hated it, a friend brought me to the movie and we both HATED it.

Blind side...Great movie!!!

Couples Retreat...One of my favorites! I loved this movie! So did my hubby!

Princess & the Frog. It was good. Not a lot of people 'loved' it, but we liked it enough to buy it and we don't buy many movies.

Old Dogs...very funny. We liked it!!!

2012...well it was interesting, but I, myself, would never care to actually OWN it, it's good to watch once though.

Chipmunks the squeakquel...well, I would never want to OWN it, but it was ok for a movie that we all went to the cheap theater to watch once.

All About Steve...HATED IT...which shocked me because I'm a big fan of Sandra Bullocks movies- NOT this one!

Astro Boy-I liked it a lot...saw it in the theater with a friend and watched it with my youngest last night. She liked it also. I wondered why it wasn't a animated Academy Award candidate.

The Princess & The Frog...love Redbox espescially with movies like this one. It was great for one screening but I think this will be one Disney movie we won't be buying.

Percy Jackson & the Olympians: saw it in the theater.....loved it!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

The Blind Side: awesome movie...just bought it this afternoon!!

I know we've watched others (I've been laid up 8 weeks with a broken ankle) but I can not think of them.

lol: I remembered another one: My mom took me to see When In Rome last week...we both loved it...Josh Duhamel is so dang cute!!

From what I have watched over the last couple of weeks:

Shutter Island - just saw this today. It's one of those movies that messes with your head and you have no idea what is going out, but we liked it.

Remember Me - I liked this one. Got bad reviews due to the ending, but without the ending, there is no story.

The Time Traveler's Wife - I liked it, I enjoyed the book more though.

Precious - So heartbreaking, but a very good movie.

New Moon - I love the books and this was my least favorite of the series, but I enjoyed the movie. Not sure how anyone would be able to get it though if they hadn't seen the first movie.

Up in the Air - I was fairly bored during this. Maybe I would have liked it better in the theater.

At the theater:
Avatar in IMAX 3D: Amazing visuals, OK story.

Alice in Wonderland (Tim Burton version) in IMAX 3D: Loved it! Alice is a good heroine for today.

Princess and the Frog: Loved it- wonderful music, great classic hand-drawn animation, and nice story.

At home:
Blind Side: So good!! I cried through a lot of it.

The Hangover: Hilarious!! Very non-child friendly, but soooo funny! Loved Mike Tyson and the naked guy in the trunk.

The Blind Side - Had us crying and laughing... best movie we have seen in a very long time :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:

New Moon - It was okay.... Eclipse will hopefully be better ;)

Couples Retreat - Laugh out loud funny :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl

Up in the Air - Blah... a bit depressing but Clooney sigh....

Old Dogs - This was funny - not one of the best but entertaining.

We never go to the movies or rent them or watch them on TV. But we love Johnny Depp and Tim Burton so we had to see Alice in 3D and we both loved it! Wish it was longer though.

The Informant- Horible. I predicted it from the beginning, fells asleep (okay, so I guess I don't know if the whole thing was horrible, LOL), and woke up in time to see my prediction come true.
Men Who Stare at Goats- I fell asleep.
Old Dogs- Okay family movie
Julie and Julia- Okay-ish
Public Enemies- Good
Alice in Wonderland- Fun-the whole family liked it
Diary of a Wimpy Kid- Loved it

Just watched Did You Hear About the Morgans....painfully slow. Glad I didn't see it in the theater.

Most of the movies I watch have to be acceptable for dd to watch with me, so I don't see a lot of things like Saw or Shutter Island. But, my latest favorites are:

Alice in Wonderland--even with my love for all things JD, I didn't really know how much I would like this movie; but I loved it. Its so different from the story in the animated version that there is no comparing one to the other and it really does seem to be more of what the author may have had in mind. Will buy the DVD

Blind Side--watched yesterday on ppv, fell in love with it. I was just so amazed at how inspiring it was. Haven't cried that much at a movie in a long time. Will buy the DVD.

New Moon--I am just the opposite of the pp, I found this movie much easier to watch and follow than the first movie. Will buy the DVD.

Percy Jackson--really liked this one and it has dd reading the series. It was really good, not sure we will buy the DVD or not.

Public Enemies (only one dd doesn't watch with me)--I saw it in the theater and loved it, got the dvd for a gift and have watched it several times.

Looking forward to seeing "Clash of the Titans" and HP #7 and Eclipse when they come out.
