What New Changes Would You Like?

I agree with that completely. I would vote for discount on all sit down eateries. I think this would save a ton of money. Wouldn't mind it if the fast food spots had it too. I would like to take advantage of any type of savings we can get as DVC members. :flower1:

I'd like to see DVC concentrate more on improving the guest experience, rather than look for more discounts. If a member books at 11 months, the room should have all requests met, no excuses. Improving transportation and room maintenance would also be high on my list. Having communicated with DVC regarding these issues in the past, I can say it's not likely to happen though since they seem to think these are issues of extreme complexity and practically unsolveable. But as long as I'm wishing...

I would like to see extended MS hours to include Saturdays and/or a better computer system that allows us to track our points on line and make real time reservations. I realize it's complicated and some aspects are coming in the future, but until they do, Saturday hours would be nice.

I also like jarestel's idea for 11 month reservations. If you make one at 11 months, your chances of getting what you want should be increased.

Discounts are nice but I feel very fortunate to be getting the new AP discount and we do pretty well with current DVC and AP discounts.

I have a hubby that is a food HORSE when it comes to eating out. He always seems to be craving the most expensive item on the menu and a dining discount would save us money. (honestly, I always forget to ask if we get an AP discount at particular restaurants, so it will have to be an across the boards one for my silly self to remember to ask for it!)

However, I am very happy with the way things are right now. We just LOVE the AP discount! :cool1:

Spiceycat, the APs do have some dining discounts...about 10% at select restaurants. However, it would be much simpler to say DVCer get x% at all Disney owned full service (including buffet) restaurants...or X% at lunch, Y% at dinner...non-Disney restaurants could particpate, at their option.

DDE (FL residents) pay a fee (75 first yeat, $60 renewal) for 20% off...I don't know if it applies to lunch and dinner, or just dinner. Only one card is needed for up to a party of 10 people...they could restrict that to 5 or 8 for DVCers, since they are restricting our APs to a max of 8 people.

actually this is a great idea! I bet it would have a good chance to fly with Disney as well. They could charge the small fee similar to the above to recoupe some of the loss on the discount itself and I bet they would see an increase in meals eaten on site by dvc'ers. It wouldnt be a huge number I bet but it probably would be just enough. If they could entice each family to eat on site only once more per week I bet they make up most of the discount right there.

I agree here as well, in todays day and age there is zero reason that at least some aspect of this system is not online.

but the 11 month thing although nice, would be pretty toughto do, no? It would be possible if each and every reservation was for an equal amount of time, say a week, but they need the flexibility of fitting smaller length of stay reservations into openings in the schedule without missing days in between. If they assigned room A to someone for 3 nights, then what if they dont get another wanting that room preference starting the following day. They would have a empty room for a night or more with almost no way of filling it. You might be able to work around this with a small number of rooms, but when you get up there in numbers the amount of wasted rooms becomes large.

its kinda complicated and i may have made it more confusing but anyway thats my opinion

believe me the computer (with correct programing) could easily handle this problem.

the problem would be when the room controller or front desk start to move people around.

I really also like the idea of a DVC lounge.

they did away with AP lounge after a few months. :guilty: I should have tried it - but forgot about it at the AK.

I'd like to see a DVC web store where we could purchase merchandise throughout the year, just like you can at the DisneyStore.com.

My priority list of desired changes is:

1) Web based reservations and account management
2) 24/7 call center support
3) 100% non-smoking rooms, with exterior designated smoking areas
4) Improved priority handling of room requests based on reservation date

Other changes that would be nice to have:
5) Broader dining discounts
6) Unlimited fast passes
7) Extended park hours

We have often wished for a dining discount like the Florida residents get. We didn't know they pay a fee for that, and certainly $60 would discourage us from buying a discount card for a one-week vacation -- I don't think we'd save much more than that unless the discounts were huge! But if the Florida residents pay $60 for a 20% discount, maybe we could get a 10% discount just for being DVC members. We used the meal plans for our first couple of trips a number of years ago and did find we ate too much - we just don't normally get appetizer AND entree AND dessert - so a meal plan would be less attractive to us.

I also like the ideas of DVC member lounges in the parks, room requests being filled based on how long ago you made your reservation, unlimited fast passes, weekend MS hours, and being able to make reservations online in real time.

I would like to see the room priority according to when you booked reinstituted. I just think that this is a resort ownership perk and I'm still miffed that they did away with it.

Second would be 100% non-smoking in hotels (and the parks!)

Third would be more dining discounts.

With the number of DVers who will soon be AP holders, everyone has to remember to ask at every place you spend money, "do you do any discounts?". We ask that question all of the time and somtimes receive a nice surprise when we are told yes.

You are sooooo right Happy! I also sometimes leave the APs in the car, etc when we are at DtD and learned quickly NOT to do that since there is almost ALWAYS a purchase at WoD.

Perhaps the discounts that ARE offered to AP holders will simply be increased, not in percentage, but perhaps in the number of restaurants offering them. However, I suspect that as long as they are not hurting, they wont offer us discounts. Supply and demand of course. But then, I NEVER thought they would offer AP discounts! :cool1: Disney rocks! :earboy2:

Maybe the thought is that many DVCers will come back even without points to stay on and spend cash. One trip like that would certainly make up for the discount on the AP. Doesn't matter to me. We bought our APs last year BEFORE becoming DVC Members.

OK, add to my Wish List:

1. On-line ressies & account mgmt. This should actually reduce the load on MS; maybe they would be able to redistribute staff for weekend hours. (Not sure why anyone would ever need to call MS at 3:37 AM ;) )

2. First reserved first served room scheduling. Our last trip showed me how luck.of.the.draw the current system is. Our only request was a NS room; but even though I booked day.by.day at 11 months, because we got there at 4:30 Sunday afternoon they didn't have a NS room available. Thankfully, NS wasn't a requirement (and the room didn't smell of smoke), if it had been, we'd have been out of luck.

I agree, though, that making sure that those things that have already been promised - clean rooms, non-worn linens, working appliances, etc - should take highest priority. Not sure if every room request can be met, but they should try harder to at least meet the first/top of the list.

Although a dining discount at every eatery would be the perfect scenerio, I don't see Disney falling for it for the following reasons:

1) they already offer some type of dining discount with the APs

2) by purchasing a meal plan it ensures them that you will be eating onsite as opposed to offsite MORE often

If they were to offer a dining discount, it still gives YOU the freedom to decide if you want to eat onsite, offsite or just cook in your room:confused3. Again, it would be really sweeeeet for us but I don't see Disney biting:fish:

I probably wouldn't use a meal plan. Especially with the kitchen facilities in the DVC units. Some type of general dining or merchandise discount would be good, but I'm getting greedy!

One thing I didn’t see was a reduction of points for those staying a week or longer. I agree with points for weekdays and larger amounts for weekend days but when staying for a week at a time the points could be discounted, reflecting, if nothing else, reduction in the housekeeping cost.

... unless you're a UK DVC member, where it would be 9:37am ... Would that give'm first crack at reservations at the 11mth window?

I'd like online booking capabilities, and general points management.. and the ability to buy cool DVC stuff on-line too!
