What movies do we need to see to best understand theming?

We have seen the more recent Disney movies, but I know that there is a lot of theming to all sorts of characters and movies. I know that I never saw Dumbo until recently, so never understood Casey Jr at Disneyland, etc. I am sure that not all movies have equal representation, so I was just wondering which we should specifically seek out.

Pinocchio. My DS8 had no idea who Jiminy Cricket and the Blue Fairy were except that they were in the Wishes fireworks.

Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs
Cinderella
The Little Mermaid
Toy Story
Beauty & the Beast
Monsters Inc
Lilo & Stitch
Indiana Jones
Star Wars
Pirates of the Caribbean
Song of the South (if you hunt around, you can find it online, but if not, you can find the short segment with Brer Rabbit and the brier patch story)
Old Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, & Goofy cartoons (there are cartoon classics movies that have a bunch on one dvd)
Alice in Wonderland
Winnie the Pooh

The Little Mermaid
Sleep Beauty
The Lion King
Beauty and the Beast
Peter Pan
Dumbo
Aladdin
Toy Story
Finding Nemo
Star Wars

Off the top of my head...

:thumbsup2
for Splash Mountain

Another oldie is Swiss Family Robinson
for the SFR Treehouse

Old Muppet Show segments for Muppet Vision at Hollywood Studios. You can find them on YouTube.

Honey I Shrunk the Kids for the playground at Hollywood Studios.

It's Tough to be a Bug for the show at Animal Kingdom.

Raiders of the Lost Ark for the Indiana Jones show at Hollywood Studios.

Finding Nemo for the Seas Pavilion at EPCOT.

Winnie-the-Pooh for Crystal Palace meals.

And isn't there a movie that went with Tower of Terror?

And any Aerosmith videos you can find on YouTube for Rock n Roller Coaster. That way you'll know the music they play on the ride.

Just thought of another one....Lady and the Tramp if you're having a meal at Tony's.

How about some really obscure themes/movies?

The Swiss Family Robinson (come on, how many kids these days understand the treehouse?)
Adventures of Tom Sawyer (not even really a movie, but he has his own island)
Alice in Wonderland
Classic Mickey cartoons (Clarabelle Cow anyone?)
Honey I Shrunk the Kids (miss the movie, but there's still a playground)
Song of the South (already mentioned)

The Swiss family Robinson treehouse is a way better attraction if you've seen the movie. And the movie holds up well after all these years.

With all the new stuff why has no one said frozen? :rotfl2:

But seriously from what I remember this list is pretty close ....

Tangled for some of the parts of new fantasy land .... No rides but theming

The Sword in the Stone
One of the Davey Crocket Miniseries (especially if you could find a copy with Walt's Disneyland tv show opening)

My kids LOVE Swiss family Robinson! I remember it well from my childhood too. It was on Netflix recently..,might still be there!

We could only come up with one movie that is in an attraction in 3 of the 4 parks. We came up with another movie that has representation in 3 of the 4 parks, and soon to be another. Can anybody else think of more?
