What month is the calmest?

What month is the calmest sailings? What month is the roughest? We are going on the Fantasy Eastern in May. Hoping this is a calm month.

There is no one calmest or roughest. The sea can be anything in any month. All depends on surrounding weather systems, winds, etc. Any day within a month can have rougher or calmer seas. All in all May is a nice month to cruise but no one can say if the days of your cruise will be calm or rough. We have had seas as soomth as glass and seas very rough in all the different months we have cruised. Even during the same week!! Have fun and enjoy. I personally enjoy when the seas are somewhat choppy. I find the rocking of the ship very soothing.

Yep. We did an RCL in September - the week before we sailed, our itinerary was failing to stay out of the path of hurricane Hermine and it was *nuts*. It was on the news how rough the trip was for everyone onboard. The week we sailed, the water was glass coming and going. We did early May, supposed to be a better month, and the water was very choppy. So you just kind of pick a week based on general temps/vacations/prices, and don't piss off Poseidon before you leave

A year (or three) ago the DIS had a survey about which month the ships had the most trouble docking at Castaway Cay (as in not being able to dock) because of winds/choppy water. And the winner was January. So basically as long as you avoid a hurricane and January, you have a pretty good chance for a smooth sailing.

The calmest months for a Bahamas/Caribbean Cruise are June through September. The predominant winds are Eastern and typical wind speed is +/-10 Kts. The Hurricane season is also during these months with the peak time in September.
