 We just bought the airline tickets for March 2006, and now it's time to find a resort. Does anyone have any suggestions? We're looking at the Moderate Resorts, we stayed at POR this year and loved it, but should we try somewhere new? I would love to hear your feedback. My children will be 2 and 4 when we go. Thanks!! :wave2:

I would suggest CBR if you want to try something new. I would go for a preferred location d/t the food court. Almost every island has a quiet pool and their own playground. :Pinkbounc

:cool1: I stayed there as a child and loved it. I don't remember much. It looks great on the website. :earsgirl:

CSR is my favorite moderate resort. Check out my CSR website below for pics, links and info. CSR is centrally located with short rides to AK, MGM and Epcot and about a 10 minute ride to MK. Blizzard Beach is across the street. I feel the transportation is the best.

THE PROS
No sharing bus service with other resorts
Centrally located with short rides to the parks
Largest hot tub on WDW property
Awesome main pool area with bar, snack bar, playground and kiddie pool
3 quiet pools
New shuttle service eliminates long walks to any of the villages
High speed internet service
WiFi available too
Free use of the gym
Spa
Fridge in the room
Coffeemaker in the room
Iron and ironing board
full room service menu
2 arcades
beautifully landscaped
central air, not a noisey wall unit
only mod to offer suites

THE CONS
Full size beds (kings size beds are available)
one sink

The Pepper Market is either a love it or hate it place. We love it but some folks just don't care for it.

Convention resort - some guests don't like seeing other guests at work. Doesn't bother us and helps keep the buses empty. GF, Cont, BW, Y & B Club are also convention resorts.

Check out my website below

I went to your website, and WOW! :earseek: It sounds really great.
Can you tell me, is there a lot of walking from the rooms to the supper hall and bus stops. :confused3
I have two guys with little legs? :jester:

Thank you.

We absolutely love POR! We were there in March and even spent time their last week while we were staying at OKW. POR has all the ambience and beauty of the south! :sunny: Your little ones will love the water slide there as well as the Ole fishin' hole. In the evenings you can opt to take a horse drawn carriage ride around the resort or maybe a boat trip to DTD is there for you! When we aren't staying at a DVC resort, POR is where we'll be! BTW, we preferred the mansions to alligator bayou. They are just so beautiful! ::MinnieMo

We absolutely LOVED POR. The landscaping is so lush and beautiful. We stayed at CSR next and, even though it's also very pretty, it just seemed like a real letdown after POR. CSR to us lacked the Disney feel to it; probably because of all the business people staying there. Nametags and cell phones all over the place. Their food court was good, though. We're trying CBR in March, so hope we like it better.

CSR has an internal shuttle system so there is no walking if you don't want to. Just wait at the designated stops and a shuttle cart will bring you to and from the main building to your room.

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site over the wooden bridge. Most convenient. Mostly waterview rooms.

cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building. The back portion does not have waterview and would meet your needs.

cabana 8b and 9a are inbetween the 2 above. 9a has a quiet pool and is also a smoking optional building.

Cabana rooms are mostly waterview rooms or non parking lot views but that doesn't mean you couldn't get them at a standard price.

ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a. 6b is also close to the Dig Site but obviously further away from the main building. 7b or 6b would be other good choices.

The casitas are close to the gym, spa and have great fountains and courtyards. casita 5 is close to the Dig Site with a good walk to the main building. The lower the casita number the closer towards the main building. Casta 4 has a quiet pool.

Remember, with the new internal shuttle system, room location isn't as crucial as it used to be.

I was indifferent to POR, and LOVED CSR. It was so beautiful. I would have liked to go back but am eager to always stay someplace new, so it will be CBR for us in May. I am excited about that - it looks lovely as well.
I have heard a lot of great things about POFQ also, that it is very family friendly, so that might be worth checking out too. CSR is great but it was very quiet when we were there, you might have more fun with kids at POFQ

i like por the best.at csr all those suits talking on cell phones really agrivate me its hard to relax cbr is too big and kinda old im staying at cbr this year we are going with about 9 friends and they all booked at cbr so i got no choice

I have no prior experience, but we picked CSR for the many pros that buzz listed. But the real selling point for me was the pool. I just know my son will love it. Of course, he is 8 and part fish. I swear he has gills somewhere!

We loved POR too and Loved POFQ even more after we finally made the move over there. We have also tried CBR and would probably not recommend it without a car as it is HUGE! compared to the others. Definatley try POFQ, your bound to love it if you loved POR. princess:

:sunny: It sounds like people really have their favorites. :sunny: It's going to be a tuff choice. :confused3 CSR sounds like it has some real great things, but POR was wonderful. :bounce: Maybe we'll opt for a split vacation and try both. We're heading down with my parents, so I'll pass along all the great information. :Pinkbounc Thank you, and keep the advice coming! :thewave:

We, too, have young children (DS will be 6 1/2, DD will be almost 3) and are going in May 2006 for a week to celebrate my DD's 3rd birthday. We will be staying for 3 days with just our family and then my DM and DD will be joining us along with my DS and her 6mo. old. DS-i-L will be joining us for the last 2 days. So, we have a wide range of people in our party.

We are really having a hard time deciding what moderate we want to book. For DS's 3rd birthday we stayed at POFQ and really liked it. We were right by the bus stop, near the food court and pool, and we loved the boat to Downtown Disney. However, we'd like to try a different resort this time.

Are there any of the moderates that you feel you just have to have a preferred room or else you are too far away from everything? We saved enough money on airfare (bought as soon as flights were available, thank goodness we're not trying now!) to move from value to moderate, but we're not sure our budget will stretch to PREFERRED room moderate. We just don't want to end up WAY out somewhere where it will take half an hour to get to our hotel room from the bus stop.

I'll be interested in reading everyone's responses. I've already learned a lot in reading the ones posted so far.

Thanks!

I really loved CSR. It had great bus service and the pool was really nice. The grounds were beautiful. I would highly reccommend it.

We stayed at CBR and I loved it, but since I am trying to eventually stay at all the resorts, I would stay at CSR, since you have done CBR and PO. No matter which one you choose, I'm sure you will have a great trip.
