What MK ride do you hit first?

Dumbo, Dumbo, Dumbo And then Dumbo again. At least this is how we started all 4 of our MK mornings on our first trip to WDW!
 
We did something the Saturday after Thanksgiving 06 that we absolutely loved. :love: I can't remember if it was a early entry day or not (I am thinking not). We watched the opening of MK and then rushed in to the train station getting second in line. Someone came out and said it would be about 7 minutes until it returned so the lady and little boy in front of us left.

On a side note there was only one other family in line behind us. When they dropped the rope, the family ran ahead of us (in a not so nice way). :sad2: So while waiting for the train we stood VERY close to them (just to let them know that we didn't appreciate being pushed to the side). :furious: They kept talking about how they wanted to sit in the front and we just remained quiet(my DH was furious b/c since we were 1st in line he had already told DD5 we could sit up front). pirate:

Anyways we did get to sit up front. We got off by Splash, walked on the ride, it was my DD5 1st. It was magical. It will definently be a new tradition for us!! :grouphug:
 
We usually are in MK for opening at least 2 times a trip, so one day we hit Dumbo first and do all of Fantasyland and then the next morning in MK we will do the Mountains and Buzz first. We have 2 boys (9 and 10) and 2 girls (1 and 5), so this satisfies all parties.
 

On this trip, we got to MK at opening (I cried when Mickey came in on the train! :rolleyes2 ), got fastpasses for SM, then let our DD's 8 & 9 drive those horrible, slow-loading Indy race cars! They had a ball, and we were on and off in 5 minutes. We did SM as a walk-on, walked on it again, walked on Buzz, walked on SM yet again, then headed over to Peter Pan and only had a 10-minute wait. We saved our SM fastpasses for later when it got busier. I tell everyone that the best Disney tip is to be there when the parks open.
 
The train around the MK. The first time the family went to DL, our first ride was the train around DL. And everytime after that, our first ride at DL was the train around DL. And the family has carried that tradition over to MK.
 
My wife and I always head to, "Mickey's Philharmagic", when we first get to WDW. It's become the tradition! :thumbsup2
 
I like to head to Splash M and pick up a fastpass....ride Thunder Mountain and maybe Haunted Mansion, then go back to Splash M
 
We did Buzz and then headed over to Fantasyland... did Indy Race Cars on the way, tea cups, pooh, Dumbo, etc... Until we get everyone up with the height restrictions it will be straight to Buzz for us!
 
with my kids we have always gone to "it's a small world" first. to me, this was the perfect first ride for my kids. while the song will drive you nuts........the look on their faces is worth it!!
 
We usually book it back to Fantasyland (small kids!) and get onto Peter Pan, then Winnie the Pooh, next IASW. It has seemed easiest for us to get a fast pass for Mickey's Philharmagic to avoid waiting in that line. Just a tip- think twice about going on Snow White with little ones, my daughter still remembers that experience two years later! Have fun! :mickeyjum
 
We take the train around to Big Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain to get on them first. My DH rides them. I only ride if the mood hits me okay.

This is great info. Thanks! However, I see many people reference "park opening." I have never been there for an opening of Magic Kingdom but it sounds as if it is something to see! Could someone please describe what happens during park opening (and about what time it happens?)? Thanks!

P.S. Can you rent a stroller before park opening????
 
My family loved the park opening at the Magic Kingdom. The first time we went it was EMH so we arrived about 7:40AM for the 8:00AM park opening. There were families there but we were able to go through bag check and the turnstiles and wait just outside the train station. Just before they opened the park, music starting playing and the fire chief stepped out on the train station platform to welcome everyone to the Magic Kingdom. Then the train pulled up with all our friends... Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofey, Donald, Chip, Dale, and there were other but I can't remember all of them. They did a dance on the train station platform and then we all did a count down to open the Magic Kingdom... 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 Horray! Under the tunnel and walking up main street towards the castle! It was a WONDERFUL way to start our first trip/first day at Disney. We went another non EMH day and they did the same thing... just as good the second time. I am not sure if there is more to it than this but we just loved the whole thing. We went to park opening at Animal Kingdom but the place was packed, we did not get through the turnstiles and if there was something special going on we were too far back in the crowd to experience it. I would highly recommend going for Park Opening at the Magic Kingdom.. just pure magic!
 
Last trip was the first with DD. We rode Dumbo first thing.

In September she will be big enough to do some of the mountains and has requested Splash Mountain first. :)
 
Space Moutain last time for DW and DS wile DD and I went on TTA. DD was 3 at the time and scared of everything.

This time we will be at MK 1 full day and 3 partial days. First day is BTMRR followed by Splash MTN.
