What Mini Series Would You Like To See Again?

Winds of War

North and South

Thorn Birds

Gosh, they don't make 'em like they used to, do they?

Here're my votes:

that vixen Ashton needed a butt -whoopin'! ( North and South )
Hai! Anjin-san! ( Shogun )
Worst French accent by a battery salesman ( Centennial )

I saw the last part of Backstairs at the Whitehouse, so would LOVE to see it replayed.

Mini series that needs to be fnished? - A Woman of Substance, by Barbara Taylor Bradford.

North and South, Roots and Chiefs. It's funny this thread came up. I've been thinking about Chiefs for the past month, I have a new co-worker with the last name of Funderburke! So happy to see Amazon has it.

I liked the George Washington mini series starring Barry Bostwick. I don't think it has been on in years.

I own my favorite miniseries on DVD--Band of Brothers. Best miniseries ever, bar none.

I don't know if this qualifies as a miniseries or just as a really long movie, but And the Band Played On is another favorite that I also own.

I consider both of these as near to perfect as shows can get.

I'm big into historical fiction, I've read all the books. My votes are:
Roots (my g-pa actually sailed with Alex Hailey, Go Coast Guard!)
North & South
War & Remeberance
Thornbirds (DH even liked this one!)

What I wish:

Someone, somewhere, sometime, would make at decent Kent Family Chronicales maxi-series, and Angels in America would show on broadcast TV. I haven't seen it since I only have basic cable - it is part of my every-day savings that adds up to yearly WDW trips!

One of my all time favorites - Lace w/ Phoebe Cates. Classic line - "Which one of you three b*****s is my mother?".

oh boy, these bring back great memories

Chiefs

Centennial

Captain and the Kings

RMPM

The Stand

Last Living Confederate Widow

The one with Sally Field where her husband dies and leaves her penniless.

Wasnt there one called "The Last Convertible"?

I can't believe I forgot Rage of Angels with Jacklyn Smith and Armand Assante

I loved "The 10th Kingdom"...in fact I have it on DVD.
I LOVE THE 10TH KINGDOM!!! I have this on DVD too and I have to admit I watch it at least once every six months or so. But way it ended you would have thought there would be another one coming out after it.

Another good one was "Scruples" with Lindsay Wagner based on the Judith Krantz book.

It seemed like in the '80's there were lots of miniseries based on Judith Krantz books. I remember "Mistral's Daughter" and "Princess Daisy". I am sure there were more.

I remember Mistral's Daughter (and liked it) and also Till We Meet Again, based on another Krantz novel.

Some of my favorites have been mentioned earlier: Centennial (TNT used to show this pretty regularly a few years ago); I Claudius, and Six Wives of Henry VIII.

Others I would not mind seeing: Bridehead's Revisited, Captains and Kings, and two with Lesley Anne Warren--79 Park Avenue and Evergreen.

Another couple I really enjoyed... The Two Mrs. Grenvilles. It starred Ann-Margret and Claudette Colbert.

Little Gloria - Happy At Last. The story of 10 year old Gloria Vanderbilt. Bette Davis, Angela Lansbury, Christopher Plummer, Maureen Stapleton. What an amazing cast! :thumbsup2

I am trying to remember the miniseries with Lesley Ann Warren, Evergreen. I remember watching it and crying at the end. What was the storyline?

Oh yeah, gotta watch Lace every time it comes on! :thumbsup2 :happytv:

Loved Rich Man Poor Man. A young Nick Nolte, wow, does it get better than that? He was a heartthrob to many -- although young people who see Nick Nolte as he is today might find that hard to believe. :p Age was not kind, but whew, what a man! :faint: Peter Strauss was so good in that too.

Another one that I loved that is probably now obscure is Celebrity. It was based on a book that I read a few years earlier, I'd say this mini series came out in the early 80s. Its the story of 3 friends who witnessed a rape when they were very young -- they grow up and all go their separate ways, but are tied together by the secret they all keep. I'd love to see it again to see how well it held up over time, but I don't think its available on netflix. :(

I taped it when the History Channel played it about 10 years ago or so.

Also, one that hasn't been mentioned is "The Adams Chronicles". It was on PBS in the early 70's.
