What makes this pin so desireable?

Wet Paint.
 I just don't get it. What's the big attraction, other than it is a mystery pin?

Any other pins that has others scratching their heads?

Come to think of it -- I was scratching my head over FLUBBER. Must just be me! ;)

:D Hehehe :D No, Barb, you're not alone in this one...

Many pins carry their unique attraction if labeled low LE or "mystery", regardless of how they look like.

I decided to get rid of my extras and only acquire pins for my permanent collection from now on. All the hoopla around pins like that is driving the prices sky high. It becomes ridiculous to pay double the price for at least two pins! Then you are at the mercy of what someone else needs and what you can get for your tradables. If you wait just several weeks, chances are the pin you wanted will be easy to acquire at a more reasonable price. There are exceptions, of course, but in my opinion, it pretty much evens out in the end.

So add me to the group of those who feel that some humble rack pins are more beautiful than many scarce LE's and mysteries.

If they don't do it sort of on purpose. Lets say you have several pins and you put them through production. Then, it turns out (lets be nice now) less than spectacular. So only make one run and call it a mystery pin. Makes it look special and wow everyone of them is gone. NO problem. Personally I think that most of the DL mystery pins look like rack pins and I don't understand why everyone is willing to pay 4x the selling price for these puppies let alone even more. Guess that is just another reason why I am a small fish.

While I to have offten wondered what made a pin so special that it had to be had... Well I can say that it's not always just the pin... It has a lot to do with the Adventure... You asked about the Flubber pin... Ask anyone in this line (not a real line though) why they like this pin...

 Dang, Nat, but when people set out to chase * anything *, no matter what it looks like  , just for the adrenalin rush of the chase...

Oh my, aren't they just playing games with our wallets and primeval instincts engaging us in power struggles to establish superiority over other humans? Oops.. too philosophical (or biological), maybe.

Well, personal opinions, anybody's budget is not my personal business, what anyone else wants to do with it is not my life, and we live in a free country, I guess.

But, still, Disney's marketing department has the absolute power to turn it pretty neurotic...

Happy to love whales but be another small fish

Nat, Thanks for the memories of the NOT-a-line line! You just reminded me that some of our friends have left us over the months. What was the name of that nice kid who gave me a Flubber when he thought I missed out?
