What make a trip report interesting to you?

I've started reading trip reports, and it has inspired me to want to write my own for my upcoming trip in November. I've found that I like the TR's that describe the humorous little things that just don't go quite right, descriptions of special moments, and tips on how to get a little extra magic out of the trip. What I don't like are the TR's that read like an itinerary: 9 AM - Rope Drop at AK; 9:15 - Walked on to EE; 11:00 - Ate breadsticks at Pizzafari; etc.

So that got me to wondering, what makes a trip report interesting to you?

For me, it's the personal stuff, like you described. The seeming little things, I guess. I tried to do to that in my past TRs...maybe not well :) but that's how I try to do it.

For me it's pictures. Even better...Pictures taken and posted to the DIS within seconds. Very current stuff.

Pictures draw me in. I especially like pictures of food, rooms, and room views (as opposed to pictures of the parks).

Humor definitely helps, and I agree with a PP -- hearing about some things that went a little haywire makes the TR a bit more interesting, too.

I enjoy the way the narrator writes the story. If it starts out slow and boring, I don't finish reading it. But if it seems fun with some humor I tend to follow.

The ones I have been reading have pictures, personal stories, personal thoughts, and have a fun sense to the report. I have followed a few Disers though many of their different trips. I feel like I know the person and the family because they share (nothing too personal) their opinions and their suggestions and sometimes those magical moments.

I will admit that some people do share a little too much "private" information and I feel embarrassed reading it. It is like I am prying into a private moment. :scared1: I really don't need to know what happened in the bathroom after eating too much. :scared1:

Also, what catches my eye is the thread title. If is seems off base or a little interesting I tend to look at those first.

Pictures and people reporting on things we haven't done / tried before - especially if it includes restaurant reviews

I know! I am shocked at the personal details some people will share with internet strangers.

For me it's pictures and pretty much just pictures and dining reviews or crowd level reports- informative stuff like that. I am not so much into reading every detail of someone's trip. I have found that I enjoy on the dining board the trip reports that are just straight dining reviews of everywhere the people ate.

I also love the ones where the families have made special costumes or outfits for each day. I love seeing the creativity of those parents and their awesome sewing skills!

Agree....pictures and humor. Exactly why I have never written a trip report. I can do the pictures but I am a terrible writer and definitely no good with writing humor.

Drama!

A few nasty in-laws are always great for added excitement.

I think humor, writing style, and relatability are the biggest draws for me. I love the pictures but if I'm not entertained by the writing style or unique activities happening on the trip the pictures aren't enough to keep my interest.

I went solo and plan on writing a short TR just because it was reading other solo trip reports that gave me the courage to do it. There aren't a lot of solo reports and I want to add my own to give encouragement to other singles thinking about going.

Pictures of food, character interactions, and limited time magic stuff this year all make it interesting to me. I also think it's important to keep up with the trip report. I've a read a couple that are really interesting but then the person stopped updating. :worried:

Love hearing about personal experiences and special moments. Unique pictures are great.

Not so interested in a litany of the order in which somebody did attractions and how long they had to wait in line for each.
