Just wondering what look you like in a front yard - flowers, shrubs or both?

I've always been a "both" person, but I'm thinking this year I might skip the flowers in front.

I am really just a flower person...if I had the money I would be planting all sorts of differant heights and colors.

I like a good variety of color
so I would think you could achieve a nice color range with shrubs (not just green)
I would think it could be as pretty as flowers
I personally do both flowers and shrubs

I love flowers more than shrubs....but for my front yard, I have mostly shrubs. I do plant flowers at my front door in big flower pots. I know a wonderful pumpkin farm in our area which sells the best flower stock I have found. They grow so huge, I'm constantly pinching them back. It gives me just enough of a flower touch.

Now the back yard is a different story -- mostly perinnials and LOTS of flowers.

I prefer both, but we mostly have shrubs in our front yard. Several potted flowers on the front porch, though, and now that I've got a timer and drip irrigation system, I'll consider scattering some seeds for flowers to see what happens. :)

i have both although I think I have too many flowers in the front now. I like the bushes that have more 'personality' than the ordinary green shrub. I don't know their names but I have 3 of the small evergreens, a chinese boxwood, a picky red bush with little pink flowers, and a yellow and green shrub. In between I have a huge blue columbine, iris, and lavender. I also have a big pot on the steps and a few mixed among the flowers.

Now my side yard is a huge flower garden and I'm trying to grow vegies on the other side but I haven't had much luck yet (too many animals).
