Resale can use all the DVC resorts with the exact same rules as direct, and it can use RCI and BVTC. It cannot use the Disney or concierge collections.

The real question to ask is whether DVC is a good vehicle with which to use any of these alternatives. The answer to that is "no." Almost all of them would be cheaper to book via cash or a different timeshare.

So buy DVC to use at DVC. Use cash or other (much cheaper) timeshares to book the other options.

Thanks...I was asking for someone thinking of purchasing a DVC contract, but also wanted to trade. Thanks for the info. We have only used ours for Disney so I am clueless about RCI.

I would discourage them from buying with the plans to exchange. Too many variables and too expensive. Better and cheaper to buy less DVC points even if they were to buy some type of non DVC timeshare that gave them other options and RCI or II access.

Not as much for RCI, availability of the best choices and the uncertainties and inherent risks of exchanging are the big negatives.
