Not sure about percentages. I’m ok with everything changing to promote distancing. The absolute full stop for me would be having to wear masks around the ship. That’s not a vacation.

I hate wearing the masks too, but was stunned today when I went to the grocery store and probably 80 percent of us were wearing them. The store wasn't that busy so that was good too. Being a scientist and a germaphobe I am still probably more cautious than I should be. Interestingly when we have went to Farm and Fleet next door we saw a much smaller percentage wearing masks. Not sure why the difference. I just get a sore throat from wearing them for long periods of time, but definitely consider it the new normal and am getting used to it, still hate it;)

The biggest worry I have about our early 2021 cruise has nothing to do with the ship. It is the flight down there. Airlines have gotten a pass on how much they spread it because I guess they are essential. Seeing some of the news though, I truly hope this thing is losing steam and the Dr's in Italy are right:)

I have been on 21 Disney cruises. I would be willing to wear a mask only in the terminal and at the muster drill. Any other mask requirement would cause me to no longer go on DCL cruise vacations. I would relish the discontinuation of the tendency of the servers at the MDRs wanting to shake my hand every time I showed up for dinner and every time I finished.

Elimination of the shows would be a dealbreaker, as would reducing the nightly entertainment in the adult section.

What’s wrong with that?

Sounds like activities and entertainment are going to be limited. Great if they still have shows, but if only a handful of people can see them why bother having them at all.

How does a temperature check after excursions work? sometimes if very active in the hot sun, temp can be artificially high? That might be tricky.

Hard to put a number on this as others have mentioned. I would be fine with certain changes and restrictions on certain activities. Everyone has their deal breaker. What it really comes down to is how much can they take away and still charge us the full fare? Obviously once these new guidelines are set in place we will have a new slate of what to expect so those cruising first should be given a bit more opportunity for some sort of credit or incentive vs those who book months later knowing full well that the cruise experience will be different for them.

Another consideration is not just reduction in activities, but the real possibility someone is believed positive so they make everyone quarantine in their cabin. That doesn't sound fun at all.

I think they are currently keeping prices high because of those that decided to take the credit and rebook next year. This seems to be across all lines. Guessing the cruise companies don't want people to have huge positive credits because they had to discount cruises so much. I am guessing at some point cruise prices will drop a fair amount to get people on and because of the diminished experience.

I would be willing to give up very little so I went with 10%. Soft serve ice cream, self service buffets are about it. Start removing characters and shows and require masks and I’m out. I’m trying to relax by the pool with a cocktail, enjoy the shows and movies, meet characters etc. otherwise the value just isn’t there anymore for us. After 9 Disney cruises it would just seem too disappointing I’m afraid
This is pretty much my answer word for word so yeah I'm at 10% too. We have one less cruise than you and same, after 8 cruises we know what to expect onboard, we LOVE what we get with this product and aren't willing to pay the same amount for much less than we expect (sorry, didn't mean that to sound as snobby as it does lol).

Assigning a percentage in meaningless because there is no absolute key. As many others have stated things are weighted differently for each person. That said, I would accept very little in reduction and still pay DCL pricing. Even the stuff I dont want, I'd at least want the option to do. Any other line, what I would accept would be based on the deal I was getting. For the right deal all I need is a meal a day I enjoy and two I can tolerate and transportation to some tropical paradises. And a bed/ bath that I can tolerate. The rest is gravy.

To the person that wanted a salad buffet even if all other buffets were eliminated. As a vegetarian I really do get it but I dont see any way that makes sense. A buffet is a buffet is a buffet. If dressing is your major concern just get it on the side and add as little as you would like.

One for me that many will go 'really that?' is buffets. Both my wife and I love trying small portions of new foods. This way we don't order a full size meal and waste a lot of food.

Yes to the trying small portions, the CMs will have to get a LOT better at understanding what "a little" means. I would be very disheartened if my plate that usually holds 6-8 things to try only has room for two things because when you say you want a little of something you get approximately a weeks ration.

Maybe they would pre dish some sides, kinda like how they do for desserts and you can ask for 5 or 6 without it seeming too gluttonous. LOL

Another consideration is not just reduction in activities, but the real possibility someone is believed positive so they make everyone quarantine in their cabin. That doesn't sound fun at all.

A cruise to nowhere confined to my cabin sound like less than zero percent fun. This would be my biggest stressor for any line.

I dunno. Some of us have been in lockdown since late Feb and I now have a hard time telling the difference between my bedroom and my office across the hall. And it's pouring rain yet again. Maybe stuck in a cabin having someone cook for me wouldn't be so bad . . .

LOL

I guess this may be true for some. I cant afford the cabins that would be as nice as my home and after following several quarantined cruisers and their meals, I will gladly keep cooking for myself if that is the alternative. :rotfl2:

For us, it's the reduced experience that may cause us to cancel our 1/30 cruise on the Fantasy.

Having to wear masks outside the cabin and/or on shore excursions will probably be our number one reason to cancel. Neither one of us is tolerating them well. We've done Disney Springs twice in the last 2 weeks and after an hour we're miserable!

We love the shows, and on the sea days we really enjoyed the movie theater. Either of those not being available would be deal breakers. Also , given the size of the Fantasy social distancing on castaway key sounds like a challenge.

We don't care about buffets, and as long as the ice cream and soft drinks are still available we don't care if they're not self- serve. We're 2 seniors so although we enjoy seeing the characters, it's not important to us.

We're fortunate to be local so at least we don't have to worry about airfares.

My (uneducated) guess is that unless a vaccine is readily available the cruise experience end of January will impacted enough that we will probably cancel.

As long as the 10% change is just temperature checks and wearing a face mask except through dinner, and in the pool with social distancing.

I’m seriously considering cancelling our early April 2021 cruise (Easter Cruise) and instead booking a trip down to WDW and staying at AKL. I feel like being quarantined in my cabin would be terrible. We were/are really excited for the cruise but since it’s a 7 day we have to PIF in early December. Currently we are waiting to see, but if there is STILL no news then I’m not sure I can pay the remaining amount. That’s a lot of money to not get back for uncertainty. Even the deposit was over 1k.

I expect / accept the following. If these are off the table (* items are not deal breakers, just missed), then would probably cancel.
Buffet / drinks / soft serve no longer self-serve, but still available
Dinner without masks
Walt Disney Theatre nighttime shows
Buena Vista and funnelvision movies
Trivia games
* Random Character interactions with characters in complete costumes (not Princesses with exposed faces)
* Nighttime comedians
Palo brunch (again, serve me, I’ll wear a mask) or dinner

I don’t Expect to participate in these anyway -
Kids Clubs
Bingo
Alcohol Tastings / Bars
DVC activities
Swimming pools
Deck parties (Go just in time for fireworks)
Character interactions with a wait line
Spa
Gym (I should, but don’t)

Temp checks okay, but don’t hold up reboarding to check. Check us on the way out. Check us everyday if you want, but not multiple times if no symptoms.

How are we going to ride elevators?!

We are grand slam gold cruisers and have a 3-night Dream cruised booked for March 2021. We very much want to go. Below are our guidelines.

Absolute deal breakers (we'd cancel):
  • Masks required at Castaway Cay
  • No Pelican Plunge at Castaway Cay
  • No bike rental at Castaway Cay
  • No Aqua Duck
  • Concierge lounge and/or sun deck closed
  • Masks required everywhere onboard
  • Reduced daily housekeeping services in staterooms
Things that wouldn't stop us from cruising on this particular 3-night cruise:
  • No shows
  • No character meets
  • No deck parties
  • No Pirate Night
  • Masks required at embarkation/disembarkation & during muster drill
We've already seen the main shows, and have tons of character photos from other cruises, so we could give those a pass for one short cruise, especially since we're looking forward to cruising concierge for the first time. We'll want to spend a lot of time relaxing in our stateroom & in the lounge / sun deck.

As long as we can enjoy hanging out in our stateroom, concierge lounge & sun deck without masks, walk the promenade without masks, and fully enjoy the Aqua Duck and Castaway Cay without masks, the essential requirements for our 3-night cruise will have been met.

Did you get that part about "without masks", Disney?

Of course, the experience on DCL and other lines will be very different after they begin again. And, yes, there will obviously be restrictions and activities that are no longer offered.

But I predict Disney will figure out some new and totally wonderful ways of making their cruises as magical as always.

Which is why we're booked on cruises in September of this year and next. I think the cruise experience will be 100% or more of what it used to be. Just different.

No one has come out and required masks on the ships. Even Norwegian with their updated guidelines didn't say anything about masks on the ships if I remember correctly. I really and truly hope they are not a requirement. I understand the necessity and benefits behind wearing the masks. I am still wearing one to any store I go to however I do struggle with the mask often due to the heat (We live in Florida)

We go on DCL sailings for the level of service we receive and the overall environment on board. We don't go for Characters or the entertainment in general. The only show I still go see is Beauty and the Beast on the Dream (Because its just that good).

I am worried with the changes in offerings, that the usual things we enjoy doing that are more laid back will be more popular with the reduction in other activities on board the ships. It will all depend on what kinds of changes they make.

If I had to give a percentage, 10% would be the closest. There's no way they could require masks. It simply wouldn't work. We've all seen it. People don't care and don't listen. And what is Disney going to do? Throw someone off the ship? Lock someone in their stateroom? They don't have enough staff for that. Not to mention what people will do once they *leave* the ship and then can possibly come back infected.

I really have no idea what changes they could reasonably make to have things be "safe" during these times. There are too many variables.
