Funny - found them at my work cafeteria!!! I usually just bring a whole little cup and drop a little in at a time but one day at my hospital cafeteria (I am an RN) I saw them (about 4 wks ago) Tiny little packets - almost like a sugar packet but cylinder shape. Love it!!

this could be a new thing and will become readily accessible soon but I scarfed them up!

My dh loves the lemonade and ice tea so I also bring a tub and portion it out for 8oz for us. Did a quick search and found some here:

I imagine there are more places to purchase on-line but they are not available in stores yet, soon I hope!

Thanks Suzanne I may just order some for dh.

-I love the uncrustable PB &J! However, they would not be a good option for WDW. They have to stay frozen until the day they are used. Once you take them out of the freezer, they are only good for a couple of hours before they get soggy.:( They squish very easily too. WDW does serve them in some kids meals, but they are served slightly warm and do not taste good.

-We take the same type of snacks that everyone else has listed. We've found that putting the snacks in those new disposable plastic containers is lightweight and helps keep stuff from getting mushed while it's in your bag.

Hope this helps!:earsgirl:

We do the uncrustables when at WDW, but then again we are DVC, so we have a frezer. We also freze half the water or juice boxs to keep everything else in the soft cooler bag we hand off the stroller cold during the day.

We love grapes and other fruit (so good on hot days.)

Other then that we bring easy to eat snack foods that DD likes, and we do too. (also a few treats to help her wait in hard to wait times like dumb dumb suckers and M&M's.)

Sometimes we will pack some sandwiches for us, but mostly we eat at the parks. You can save a lot on snacks if you bring your own (and water.) There are always some snacks you have to buy at the parks.

Actually if your child has to have uncrustables when we went in March the pbj sandwiches they serve i the parks counter service were in fact uncrustables. I know this because my DD just won't eat them so we had to scramble to find her something to eat.:D

We also found that the uncrustables got kind of soggy after being out of the freezer very long. So, for our PB&Js, we took a tube of Skippy peanut butter (it is a 9oz tube and they sell it in most grocery stores by the other peanut butter), individual packets of jelly and either pocket bread or small bagels (since they are sturdier and less likely to get smashed up in a backpack) or even some crackers in a crushproof container and made our sandwiched just before we ate them. If you want regular white bread, you could pack it in something to protect it, or buy it inside in the park (but it will probably be $0.50 or more per slice that way, and you'll have to wait in line for it).

The Skippy in a tube is only available in creamy style (I think) and at my local store, the 9 oz tube costs the same as the 18 oz jar, but the tube is handy (just squeeze it out on the bread) and easy to carry, and is still less expensive than some other snack/meal options). Skippy also sells a box of individual packets of peanut butter....also in the peanut butter section of the store (and even more expensive--the box has 6 tubes (0.9 oz each) for the same price as an 18oz jar).

Thanks guys, yeah, I was worried that the uncrustables may become soggy, but they are quick and easy to eat on the go, maybe we could get away with it if we end up having the freezer. Thanks for all your great comments and suggestions. I am sure we will be bringing a few snacks with us this time too, you know it's not just the having to buy something every time someone is hungry or thirsty but I can't stand waiting in line for food and drinks.

Thanks so much for the info, Suzanne!!! By the way - I am an RN also. DH is an OBGYN. I'll tell him to be on the lookout in the cafeteria and the lounges for the individual packets!!! They would be SOOOOO handy!!!!

Another idea is to pick up some snacks in the gift shops. Most of the time, right behind the cash register, are small bags of snack foods. They have pretzels, graham crackers, butter cookies etc. Most were about a dollar and a lot better for you than most of the stand snacks. Lines are not too bad either. We did this a lot when DS was younger as we hate to carry a lot of stuff around. We still put a few boxes of rasins, or packs of fruit snacks in the fanny pack.

Well guys, I've pretty much figured out what we'll be bringing to the parks, and it won't be much because my dh and I talked and we decided that since we will be onsite we will eat bkfast in the room and come back for lunch. The only other prob is I wish I knew what the hours were going to be like in Oct. I guess this will be better though, everyone in our family usually needs a mid-day break for swimming, sitting and resting. We will def bring water and juice and maybe some cracker packs or little bags of chips. Thanks guys!

I found individually wrapped nuts at Sam's Club. They will be a must for us. There are about 18 packs in the box. Regular peanuts, honey roasted p'nuts, and cashews. They are small and light enough to keep in the fanny packs and the protein will keep us moving.

The little boxes of raisins are good, too... and small and light.

That's a good idea about the crystal light singles... although if my employer supplied them and found an overabundance of them were missing on a daily basis, it would be cut out very quickly.

We always take granola bars and gummy fruit for the kids. A snack while waiting in a line seems to make waiting more palatable. We don't take much though, because we like to indulge in some ice cream every day.

I know how hard it is to pass up those mickey bars on a hot day! By the time we left last time we had tried every flavor the ice cream carts sold and bought one of them for all of us every day, you know I really enjoyed the Mickey head ice cream sandwich, it was a chocolate cookie mickey head with cookies and cream ice cream in the middle, very good. But, the ice cream at the place on main street is much better. I had a float, dh had a sundae, and kids had the kiddie mickey cone, mom had a casey's hot-dog instead of ice cream that go around....but aren't we supposed to be talking about the food we bring, not what we like to buy there???? Oh well, I guess I got off track. The ice cream just calls to sweaty people on hot days, even if we bring in food, we still won't pass up the ice cream!:teeth:

Here's some mickeybars to tide everyone over let me know if it's not enough!

I've never had a problem with the Uncrustables getting soggy. We often take them out of the freezer and then the a kid will decide they don't want it. We've kept them in the fridge for a few days and they get stale not soggy. I would think they'd get crushed easily-even in a cooler. My kids never complained about any of them that we got at the counter service places.

I too take raisins, craisins and fruit candies. In Jan my baby was just shy of 1. I brought her baby yogart, fruit and Gerber makes individual size packages of cereal. I won't miss the baby food on this next trip. This year we're going to use a town car and do the grocery stop. I think I'll buy cheese-a big hit with the then nearly 2 year old and the very picky 5 year old. Maybe even drink yogart.

Hi there
Oh boy I just packed. Leaving tomorrow. I over packed actually but I will weed it out over the day. For food. i packed those 1/2 cans of coke/pepsi to throw a couple in when mommy absolutely needs a caffeine boost. Capri suns for DD5 which we will freeze. Then various snacks that I will vary during the trip. oreo, goldfish, PB and bread ( lunch for picky DD), twizzlers, Water of course, gatorade singles. the only healthy thing my DD will eat is the carrots when I get a burger I order the side of carrots for her. Hey tis Disney and a vacation.

Thank you to everyone who offered their suggestions on what to bring to the parks, I guess I will have to wait and see which hotel we end up at and then we will make the decisions on what all we will need. Thanks,
Kim

Just an FYI to everyone - I paid for all the packets I bought at my cafeteria. They were $39 each. It looks like you can buy them in bulk too. I am going to check Sam's Club and Cosco this weekend. I bet they may have them.

Hi! We just got back from WDW in May and are planning to go again in December! We took chips(ind. bags), frozen juice boxes, frozen water bottles, granola bars, gummies, crackers, etc. When we go back in December we are planning on carrying a small cooler that we can put sandwich meat and a small jar of mayo in along with various drinks. Even though our daughter is 5, we still take a stroller along that has a basket underneath. I tend to take the house-baby wipes, zip loc bags, hand sanitizer, bandaids, sunscreen, etc. I was a Girl Scout for 21 years and I am always prepared!!!!
Hope this helps!!

In the past I've taken lots of different snacks in a big ziploc, but they usually ended up uneaten and crushed in our bag.
Last week I bought one of those huge jars of animal crackers. I had an old popcorn plastic small tub thing from a past WDW trip that has a lid and you can unhook the handle. I filled it up each morning and hung it on the stroller handle. It was a hit! They never got crushed and weren't messy. All four of us dug into that thing and it helped between meals. Very easy and cheap!

I also only took two apple juice boxes a day while at the parks per kid. Once they finished that they had to drink water. I was determined we'd all drink more water this trip and not a bunch of soda. It worked well. All the stands will give you free ice or ice water, too.

I'm trying to lower our park load each trip. We usually carry way too much stuff. Thank goodness we still use the stroller!
