what kinds of snacks/food do you bring to the parks??

Hi guys I have been to WDW 6 times and up until after our last trip which was in March, and I joined the Disboards, I had no idea that you could bring in food to the parks. (I know that there is a rule somewhere stating that outside food is not permitted) Dh and I assumed that when they were doing all this bag checking that they were also looking for the "outside food". But we kept seeing people everywhere eating things we know that were brought in. I even saw a lady with a Big Mac meal from McDonalds. We couldn't figure out how this "outside food" had gotten in. Now, realizing that it is a rule that is obviously not enforced, I want to know what kinds of things do you bring in?? We are going back in Oct. and I will definitely be bringing something in, just need some ideas. I read somewhere on here that a small cooler is ok, but not sure about that one. Thanks

we bring in the following:

2 bottles (16/24 oz) water for each person
ziploc bag of grapes
ziploc bag of apples
p,b & j sandwich for DS (won't eat anything else)
small bag of pretzels/chips
granola bars
fruit snacks

when we buy lunch DH gets a combo meal, DD and I get kids meals and DS has his p,b &j.

I don't think you are allowed to bring in hard sided coolers - but I have seen small soft sided allowed.

We all have fanny packs. We each put in snacks. We have a grocery stop on the way to our resort and I buy bottled water and snacks like fruit snacks, crackers, graham cracker -- anything that won't melt. I buy the snacks pre-packed to make it easy. We just use the food for snacks in the park. We usually have one counter service meal and one sit down meal a day. If we are not staying conceirge I also buy easy things to eat for breakfast in the room. If you are not stopping constantly to buy snacks while in the parks you can save a ton of money and time. Of course, we have to buy our Mickey Ice Cream bars.

The bag check is something Disney addes after 9/11. They are not checking for food.

If you are bringing a stroller, a small cooler works well too. Wouldn't want to carry it around, but we always put one on the back of DS's wheelchair. We put in lunchmeat, sodas, waters, fruit cups and the ever popular beef jerky. In a tote bag we bring bread, cookies, nuts, sometimes chips. We usually wind up buying fries and sometimes a bowl of soup or a salad at lunch time.

Even when we use Q&C vouchers, we bring along the bags and just leave out the sandwich stuff. It's nice to have snacks to tide you over to lunch.

Only bring koolaid or gatorade in rubbermaid chuggers and granola or cereal bars. I have dh carry the bag and I dont want to have him get annoyed if its too heavy, especially on a hot day. Just enough to tide us over until lunch since we dont eat breakfast, just get up and get into the parks.

usually for the adults we bring bottles of water (frozen from the night before) in a soft cooler or lunch bag. Then the kids have their own sports bottle of juice and some snacks: peanut butter crackers, fruit snacks, things like that.

Has anyone ever taken the Smucker's Uncrustables in the parks?? I never heard of these until about a week ago I saw them at the store and bought some and my kids love them. They are frozen though, how well would they keep if they were just in the fridge?? I thought about taking them to the parks, has anyone out there taken them?? do they keep/travel well?

When I was single I used a small softsided cooler in my backpack with 2 bottles of frozen water and granola bars...when I got married and DH and stepson joined in the trips...it got to be too heavy so the extra money spent in the parks was worth my aching back..we cut out drinks and stayed with DH's honey roasted peanuts, granola bars and life saver mints. We have a stroller for the next few years so we can can get away with some weight and a soft sided cooler again...so I'll be back to freezing water bottles and juice boxes, bringing in fruit snacks and crackers.

We just bring water for the adults. For my DS, I packed juice boxes and usually his sippy cup with milk. I also brought him cheese and crackers and cookies.

But for the most part, we like to eat snacks in the parks...ice cream for DS and churros for mama! We usually only have one snack in the park per day, so I budget it in so we can enjoy!

Basically, anything you can carry in within reason is ok. But I wouldn't bring too much because you'll probably want to taste the pastries in France! Yum!!!

Nobody out there has tried the uncrustables?? Come on you guys I know that there are plenty of you out there that have brought food in, what do you bring??

We haven't tried the uncrustables since DD doesn't like PB&J or grilled cheese, go figure . Anyway, I think they'd be fine in the frig for a few days. They are sealed so that will help the bread stay fresh. As far as bringing food into the parks for the adults it's just water but we can't go far w/o snacks for DD. Along with a juice box or 2, I pack things like fruit snacks, cheese sandwich crackers, pretzels, cereal bars and craisins.

My dd likes them so I get them in a pinch- but we don't usually carry more than water into the park.

My dd finds finds that even with taking the uncrustables out of the freezer in the am somtimes they are soggy by lunch. I don't know for sure if they would be a good option. They do sell them at the parks! Why not try keeping them in the fridge before you go and experiment with the "shelf life"?

We always bring bottles of water and snacks into the park. We buy the pre-packaged kinds for WDW -- fruit snacks, crackers, cheese and crackers, cookies, cereal bars, animal crackers, etc. Since we eat breakfast in the room before we leave, we are able to hold off on lunch until 1:00 or so. Lately, we have been scheduling sit down meals at lunch, as it saves on the cost.

Although, we did see a family sharing bags and bags of cold grilled cheese sandwiches. All others in line agreed that it looked really disgusting.

Well, I've never tried the grilled cheese kind, but I did look at them at the store and the package plainly said that it had to be cooked. I guess some people like things differently, but as for me and mine, we will stick with the PB&J. My only worry is that they will get soggy too, I guess I will have to try them in the fridge at home first, and maybe pack them some where.

I haven't seen the grilled cheese but I don't imagine we will be buying them anyway. It's too easy to make one and use the kind of bread and cheese you prefer (and cheaper!).

I just checked the website and you are right, the grilled cheese must be toasted or microwaved. The PB&J suggests eating within 8-10 hours of defrosting - sorry!

It is so nice that WDW lets you bring in food/drinks. Depending on your security person here at Sea World, they have made me throw away my bottled water before, and I have had to "sneak" in a couple of snacks. Kids get hungry! At WDW, I had water in the insulated bottles, fruit rolls ups and gushers, Balance Bars (which are a type of energy bar), trail mix bars and the cheese/pretzel/cracker combos. Anything to keep up the energy between meals. This way we had a late sit down lunch and a light dinner (except at Epcot where we nibbled on just about everything!!).

I was wondering about the uncrustables too. I buy them in bulk in costco and freeze them until the am and than they usually stay in the frig. If you could keep them really cold until lunch time or snack time and a way it doesnt get squished it would be okay I guess. I took them down to the keys with us and kept them in the frig and then the cooler until the kids wanted to eat them and they were fine. I did fine after a few days they started to get kinda hard around the edges if not eaten. Im going to bring alot of bottled water, goldfish, pretzels and some fruit snacks for the kids. Im still unsure about the uncrustables. could you keep them at the baby station in their frig over in the magic kingdom? Just a thought!

We are staying OKW so I will freeze grapes overnight and bring nutri grain bars. Although bottled water is a good idea - I hate lugging things around. We will bring one or two since we have a stroller but I am getting individual crystal light packs to add to FREE cups of ice water from concession stands. I always get the decaf iced tea ones. I live off of them. We also are taking afternoon breaks back at resort for lunch/swim.

Funny - found them at my work cafeteria!!! I usually just bring a whole little cup and drop a little in at a time but one day at my hospital cafeteria (I am an RN) I saw them (about 4 wks ago) Tiny little packets - almost like a sugar packet but cylinder shape. Love it!!

this could be a new thing and will become readily accessible soon but I scarfed them up!
