I'm thinking of having lunch at the Norway Bakery one day because we'll be on the DDP and I'd like to get the school bread for my dessert. YUM!! But, I've never looked at the sandwiches they had in there before so I'm curious what they have. Do they have any salads or soups? Thanks!

I am curious about this as well, I remember seeing soup there but I cannot remember the sandwiches.

Can you get the school bread as just a snack credit? The sandwhiches are served open faced. I dont think they even make them up. They were in a glass display cabinet. to the left of the desserts. We didnt eat them but I heard others say they did not like them etc. We have eaten the traditional open faced sandwhich in norway and they top them with strange stuff like pickles and pieces of hard boiled egg. I think its like a ham sandwhich that we saw. Honestly, all the times we have been there I have never seen anyone get a sanwhich. Its not piled high with meat either. You might call it a liitle on the sparse side.

I had a sandwich there last year. It was open-faced and had smoked salmon and hard boiled egg slices. It was pretty good, but different, definitely different.

I'm pretty sure I read that you can get the school bread with a snack credit, but I don't know that I would want that much sweetness for a snack in addition to a dessert at lunch, kwim? So I thought it would be nice to eat lunch there, but maybe not if the sandwiches aren't too tasty!

I don't know about sandwiches, but they have my favorite, Lefsa, there. It is a traditional Norwegian treat, it's a very thin potato pancake that has butter and sugar on it and rolled up, think of a crepe.

My grandmother and dad are full blooded Norwegian and I grew up eating this...I was so happy to get some from the bakery when we were there!

You can also get it at Askerhus, if you ask for it at the table.

DH and I have had the open face ham sandwiches there. I can't remember if they have turkey or not. DS always gets an Uncrustable. ;)

They used to serve their sandwiches open faced. I lived in Norway for 10 months and became very used to that.
Now, back home in Orlando, my last visit to the bakery was just two weeks ago and I noticed that in my absence, the sandwiches have changed. Now they serve them in roll-type break with a 'hat' on it. ;) The still have the salmon and now they have roast beef and one other kind I don't remember. I have not yet tried them since they've changed but I hear they are great with a cup of the seafood soup they serve there as well.
They do have a small salad also and the rolls are not so big. A bit less than the size of a deli roll I think. So you can really make a nice meal out of it. I end with the berry tart or rice cream. Yum!

Mmm..I am heading to Epcot tomorrow afternoon so I think I'll have to give it a try!
