can anyone tell me what they got from budget when renting a standard suv? i have 2 resv for august w/budget out of orlando. one resv is for a standard suv (the other a minivan) not sure if the standard suv would have enough trunk space for 4 med sized suitcases. also if you rented a minivan from budget, was it stripped/rundown or nice w/some amenities like remote key fob (last time we rented a minivan, it was a very stripped dodge that was in rough shape and no key fob so of course on of the kids locked the car w/the keys in the ignition and had to get aaa to come out)
we love alamo because of the pick you own car feature but they are way more expensive this time.
thanks!

For our June 2010 trip we got a new Dodge Grand Caravan. It didn't have any extras but all we cared about was the A/C working. I forget what my friends got initially (as the standard SUV), but the engine light came on while we were out grocery shopping. We got back to the villa and called Budget and they took no time at all delivering a new Ford Edge as the Standard SUV. They liked it so much they bought one when we got home.

For our April 2011 trip we got the Dodge GC again (that's all we've ever gotten on all our trips to Orlando). The only extra was Satellite radio which was nice. Friends got that Kia (not a minivan but a small SUV), probably because they didn't arrived until really late (11 p.m. or so) and got the leftovers. It was small, but was sufficient for them...& nice. I don't remember any extras in it.

I think, for the most part, MCO has the newer vehicles. But it also probably depends on if you are arriving earlier or later in the day. Then you run more of a risk of being left with not much of a choice.

Oh yeah...they had at least 3 or more suitcases and had plenty of room for all.

My DD got a Sienna from Budget in November, no bells or whistles and lots of dings. Nothing fancy. We had a Sienna from National during the same trip and we had a new fancy one. Budget was OK and the price was right, but they did try to get her to pay for insurance even after she declined. Right before she signed she double-checked the total and the rep had added the insurance on. She gave it back to him and said it was wrong. He said, oh, I didn't hear you. It was tough having to do the hard sell at the counter, but she needed a minivan and we were using National Ex Aisle, so could not guarantee a minivan (of course we did get one), but there were 9 of us and lots of luggage, strollers, and carseats (cruise and land), so we needed both vans.
