What kind of stroller??

We have a Maclaren and a BOB stroller. Before someone suggests we get a cheap umbrella stroller from Wal-Mart, I'm not even going to consider one. My husband and I are both tall and the cheap strollers just don't work for us. It leads to many levels of frustration...haha!

We're going to be flying in. I love the ease of the BOB, but it's bulky and I'm concerned about someone stealing it. The Maclaren is fine, just doesn't have as many features (still relcines flat for naps...just no cupholder and I'm not sure on the storage basket). It folds down more compact than the BOB, is lighter, but doesn't push around as easily. Our son is 4...the main reason for the stroller is so one of us doesn't have to carry him back to the hotel or around the parks. If you had to choose, which would you take??

I've taken the Bob twice and will again. It does not fold as compactly but we make it work. I don't have the other to compare, but wanted to share the success with the Bob. There will be lots of both at the parks.

Have you flown with the BOB? I'm assuming we can gate check it? I'm just worried about it getting beat up. I don't want to risk it getting messed up, but man, it's so easy to maneuver!

I've gate checked it tons. Been on a few different airlines too, and they never batted an eye at the size. Never have been charged a fee. I do bring a bungee cord to wrap around the wheel and handlebar to keep it folded up. It's never been an issue like that. It is so easy to maneuver I don't think I could bring a different stroller.
I wouldn't worry about it getting stollen either. Not saying it doesn't happen, but I don't think its very common.

I would take the BOB. The chances of it being stolen are low and if it happens well that is what travel insurance is for.

We use a similar one for our phil and teds after it got pretty trashed on its first flight.

We have those same strollers and we took the maclaren last time and likely will this fall as well. While it doesn't maneuver as easily as the BOB, it is much more compact and easier to get through tight spaces. It's shorter in length so running over people walking in front of you is less of an issue. It's easier to park and remove from stroller parking areas. Also, I think it's just as comfortable as the BOB and affords a better view for the child riding in the stroller because the sun visor isn't as long.
We put snacks and other things in a tote bag and tied it to one of the handles, which worked great.
Whatever you decide will work, though!

I've been to DLR several times with kids in a stroller. We have a stroller that is sort of a hyrbid between an umbrella stroller and a full-size stroller. It folds really compact, but is still comfortable for our kids (both my DD and DS have used it through the years). I agree that a vanishing stroller is not likely, but it has happened. In fact, I saw a couple and their child in DLR last July talking to a CM about their missing stroller. I am guessing a Bob would be way more attractive than a Gracco or something similar.

Also, if you go during a particularly busy time of the year having a big stroller like a Bob can be a PITA. Manuevering in and out of crowds, restrooms, restaurants with a bigger stroller is harder to do with some many people around.

This is, of course, just my 2 cents. I am 5'7" and my husband is just 5'9", so I am assuming your height/comfort may dictate something different.

Maclaren would be my choice. We have done several disneyland trips with different strollers but the compact ones have been less of a hassle. We have a Bob but haven't brought it to disneyland. As with everything it's a personally choice but disney seems to be crowded enough without having to maneuver a larger stroller. Also, if your 4 year old is anything like mine you will be pushing an empty stroller a lot of the time anyways.

We gate checked a double Bumbleride stroller. No issue whatsoever.

How they handle the stroller when putting it in the undercarriage is another story.

We've gate checked a BOB Duallie multiple times. It's a total PITA to disassemble it at the gate, put it in its bag and carry it down the gangway and then have to reassemble after landing BUT doing this has meant the stroller has made it through quite a few flights no worse for the wear.
