What kind of souvenir can I buy for $100?

This will be my first trip to Disney World in over ten years, and with children in tow, so shopping time will probably be extremely minimal. I thought it would be a good idea to have some ideas in mind before I arrive so I will know what store(s) I should visit. We will not be visiting downtown, AK or the World Showcase in Epcot, just the MK (two days,) HS (1 day,) a few resorts, and the front part of Epcot one afternoon. We will definitely buy a few things for the kids (my son should love the Toy Story merchandise near the TSM ride!,) but I would like to pick out something to remind me of a very special and long anticipated trip, as well. Also, something that might last longer than a t shirt and that I can admire, wear, or use often.

Any suggestions? :worship:

Thanks,
Anna

I would suggest a hand painted Mickey Mouse Head ornament from the Christmas shop in DTD or in Liberty Square in MK. They have solid colors one that you could possibly match the decor of your bedroom or living room. Have it painted with your family name and the date, purchase a stand and viola! Now you have a beautiful conversation piece that will remind you of your visit, all for well under $100.00. Probably under $40, with the stand.

If you are looking for something jewelry wise, I do believe they sell a multitude of higher-end jewelry that would fit your budget.

Enjoy your trip! :thumbsup2

I am not sure you will get an answer to this because half of Disney is devoted to selling you stuff.

Pictures and picture frames remind you of Disney.

You could always get an ornament for your Christmas tree with the year on it; every time you bring it out you'll be reminded of your trip.

A picture frame is always nice, if you have a place to put it.

Coffee mugs and dishware is good too. I use my refillable mugs every day; they were a useful purchase that I used both at Disney and now. I have three and will add to them when we go back in October. I also use my Mickey-head-adorned cups that my Mom bought me on a previous trip almost daily.

I also have the Micky head ice cube tray. I don't always use it, but it's adorable when I do! the kids might like that; you could even fill it with juice or kool aid to freeze and put in other drinks, like apple juice Mickey ice cubes in grape juice, or fruit punch Mickey ice cubes in cherry kool aid.

For just a little bit more than $100 (usually around $128) you could buy a Disney Dooney and Bourke purse for yourself in the letter carrier style. They're super cute and good quality. Or for a little less you could buy a DDB wristlet for yourself. There are a lot of styles!

I am not much of a souvenir person but I started a tradition several years back in which I buy an ornament every trip. Sometimes I get two ;) One year I went in September, bought a Halloween ornament to put on the tree. Kept it safe and when it was time to take it out of the package, I dropped it and broke it before it ever made it on the tree.

I have also eyed some of the nice picture frames in the past.

If I could drop $100 on a souvenir, I would get the monorail track. It's a "train track" Monorail and it comes with the castle. You can get add-ons like the Epcot ball and the Contempory resort. You can also get little Mickey/Minnie figures to go with it. Super-cute, and perfect for going around a Christmas tree or something like that. Besides, you will be able to have your own little functioning monorail at home!

I would suggest a great thing would be to bring a roll of shiny pennies, and a roll of quarters and use the pressed penny machines...they sell WDW books that you can put the pennies in (think they are $9-12 in range and are in most of the gift shops around-usually close to the registers). There are so many machines all over the parks, with three designs on each machine, and many of the rides have a design on machines near them, so your son's favorite rides can be immoralized that way.

We did this on our first trip and DD (7 at the time) really enjoyed it.

In all, less than $25.

I like kitchen items because they make the everyday chores more bearable. I also like the Christmas ornaments. I love them on my tree each year. Don't know if it's still available or how much it was, but we bought the Radko castle one year and it is a centerpiece on my tree every year.

We get a new light box each trip. They can be bought in the nicer stores and the ones that sell art work. Some of the big ones are more than $100 but they are very attractive and well made.

Similarly, there is some nice art work / cells that you can get for ~$100. My hubby and I got a Thomas Kincaid Peter Pan print on canvas last year at DL for ~$75 pre-tax (similar art stores are in MK & HS & the best is at the front of Epcot). I'm not a huge Kincaid fan, but like the Disney prints as they are a bit more subtle Disney and they have tons of hidden characters & cameos in them!

If you celebrate christmas I think the fancy christmas stuff is wonderful. We get 1 pin that somehow is connected to the visit (we have a halloween pin, christmas pin etc). For the girls I allow them each a dress, I will sometimes go up a size so it lasts longer and those dresses nearly cost $100! Anything that would come framed like the art slides they sell or the "cells" i think they are called are wonderful. I would say some sort of "decoration" because that is timeless. Clothing will be grown out of and fade, toys can also get ruined/lost and fall apart. Jewelry is nice to I guess but I'm not into jewlery. A very cute and sweet Mickey Mouse watch has been handed down to my daughter by her grandfather, and its at-least 50 years old.

Do you want to spend the whole $100 on one thing? Like many others, we always get a personalized Christmas ornament. We all pick out the ornament together and have them put our last name with "Family Vacation" and the year.

The last few trips I've also started collecting the Alex & Ani Disney bracelets for myself. I think they might sell these at some of the resorts but I've been getting them at Uptown Jewelers on Main St. They have some other nice jewelry and keepsakes in there too that would fit in your budget.

If I was going to spend $100 on just one thing I would probably either go for one of the nicer snow globes or some kind of artwork I could hang on our "wall of Disney" at home. Have fun shopping!

You might want to consider Chamilia bracelets and beads. They're high-quality sterling silver and will last forever. You can pick beads that are definitely Disney (such as a Mickey head) or beads that only suggest Disney (such as glass beads in colors that are reminiscent of characters or resorts). You can find Chamilia at resort gift shops and jewelry counters in the theme parks.

Do you like the Alex and Ani bangles? You can get WDW ones.

My favorites are far less than $100. I love the silhouettes on Main Street. I think they're still $8 for the silhouette and $8 for the frame.

I also love the glasses at Arribas Brothers. Maybe $12-$15 for the glass and $3 to engrave a name. Great for everyday use unlike many others. Since the design and name are etched, they won't wash off in the dishwasher unlike a painted on Mickey design we got many years ago and no longer has any trace of Mickey.

For a bigger price, I love the purses. I always get compliments on mine, and it's not the Dooney and Boorke one. However, it is starting to show some wear and I only got it for Christmas.

In Epcot, there's the pick a pearl. I love my Cinderella carriage.

I always buy a new frame and then put the best family photo in it from the trip. We have a shelf of them now, it's a great reminder and people love to look at them :thumbsup2

If I were gonna spend $100, I would get an Olszewski Gallery of Light Box, these can be found at the Disney art store on main street in MK. You can get a preview of some of them on Ebay. I have always loved them but have yet to buy one. I am making a solo trip is Nov and this may be the year, I have always had to divide up the souvenir money with 3 other people. But honestly there are soooo many to chose from. Just depends on what you are into. I would def. be into the big painted pictures of Disney if my house was bigger. We always look for a few days before we buy anything big, just remember where you found the things that you really liked.

They're much less than $100, but I always get at least one Christmas ornament, a couple of antenna toppers (2 for $10), a t-shirt, and sometimes, a picture frame. On our trip last year, we bought a really nice collage frame that said "Our Disney Vacation", and I put photos from each day of our trip in it. It turned out beautifully, and is going to be the centerpiece of the Disney photo wall in our bedroom. Unfortunately, it has no photos from AK in it, because the water pump in our car blew on the way down to Orlando, so we missed our first vacation day (the worst part was having to cancel our breakfast reservation at Tusker House!).

hi, we always buy a Disney cookery book then when we need a Disney hit we pick something from the book to cook.

not sure if this is the same thing as light boxes, but you were able to have a family photo done then have it laser-ed into a glass block and you could buy the stand to put it on which lights up.

we also buy lots of little bits and peices like fridge magnets key rings salt and pepper shakers, trading pins etc. then when you are least expecting it you notice one of the things and you have a lovely Disney memory moment, it makes me smile :)
cal :)
