What kind of perks or discounts do you get from work?

Well, I'm also a public school teacher. We get

1. Summers off
2. Holidays off
3. Free health insurance for myself (I pay more if I add dependants)
4. Of sourse, Swan/Dolphin discount

I also work at Dillard's. We get a 25% discount on all purchases. Clothes, handbags, whatever, we get the discount. We also get paid time and a half for working on a holiday, and we get a paid day off for a holiday (including your birthday) if you've been with them for over a year.

Free cell phone and unlimited minutes, free medical and dental, GM employee discount on all GM, Chrysler and Dodge cars.

I work for a pediatric group. I get all my children's healthcare in the office for free!!! Once they get too old and have to move to a "grown up doc", I think that I will switch to a family practice. Then maybe DH's and my healthcare will be free ;) !!

Free CD's, free concert tickets, private aftershow party invitations.

I see on average about 75 concerts a year. At an average of $30 a ticket, that's a HUGE perk! The CD's are great as well, and I love getting preview copies before they are even released to the public. I probably get about 60 free CD's a year. Some are crap, but probably at least 25 are CD's I'd strongly consider buying. :thumbsup2

And here's possibly the very best perk--a "front row seat" from the photo pit for every single show! Chris Cornell can sweat on me anytime...

Anne

free food at outback, carrabas, bonefish grill, cheeseburger in paradise, roys, and flemings.

I think we get $100 a month.

we have to pay for alchohol and tip only - so dinner out for the whole family only costs like $15-$20

I bet mtbluejeans had no clue you were sleeping with her husband too :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

:lmao: You know, after I posted, I wondered if that is how my answer would be perceived! :rotfl:

Free Lunch!
I work at a Culinary Arts school and if I time it right and look hungry, Chef will whip me up gourmet lunch if she's not too busy. I also get free college for myself and all my dependants. Yep, life pretty much rocks!

I work as a paralegal at a small law firm. I get all the free legal advice I want - actually more than I want. :rotfl:

DH works for Time Inc. As a Software Engineer so we get alot of free things!!! For example: free aol, free Digital cable (dbest package), free phone service, as well as discounts on movie rentals, movie theaters, name brand clothing stores(ann taylor loft, kenneth cole, nine west, banana republic, electronic stores, sharper image, hallmark, the body shop, etc...)vacations, car rental, hotels, airplane tickets, american car companies he gets dealer cost, theme parks, restaurants, majority of all online name brand stores, the zoo, cell phone companies, we get 15% off our verizon cell phone bill every month. Free membership only for him to any ballys gym, museums, etc.... All of the stores that are around his job he gets anywhere from 15-30% off. There is sooo much more things he get discounts on, too many things to list. Best medical, dental and vision coverage. He gets 7 weeks of vacation time as well as 10 personal days all paid for. There is no limit for sick days. Works only 5 days a week mon-fri, weekends off. :cool1:

I work part-time at Blockbuster.

I get 5 free rentals a week (movies or games), can rent movies before they're officially released, get 20% off everything, get to buy a Ford vehicle at $100 over invoice, get pet insurance, reasonably priced medical and dental insurance, a % off a bill with Cingular (don't have them so haven't checked how much), all the time off I need, if I work at another store I get paid milage, tuition assistance, there's more but I'm too fried to think.

I love my job, excellent coworkers, excellent benefits, but even after 2 raises I made more when I started out at Wal-Mart.

Not the great perks we use to get, but still better than nothing.

Lots of product samples and coupons (use to get a whole case of each new item, now its single lots)
company car allowance w/gas card (use to get company car with unlimited gas)
event tickets if there are any left when they get down to my area(use to get tickets to everything)
company swag -t-shirts, hats, ink pens, notepads ( use to get BIG things for every promotion)

DH does the same type of work I do for a different company.
Free case of pop a month
LOTS of small type swag like t-shirts
small car allowance, but no gas card
He use to get really great perks, but they are also long gone.

While I miss the perks, I understand that the budget needs to be cut someplace and thats one of the easiest places to cut.

I work as a counsellor in an addicitions clinic ~ I get free therapy.

I work in early childcare so I got a 50% discount on childcare. I also get really great benefits (health and retirement). They have a small gym, although I still have never seen it lol. They do little things throughout the year like free ice cream and lunch. We also can get discount tickets for Broadway shows and certain theme parks. The best is the unlimited number of hugs and smiles I get a day!

My husband gets tons of swag. Now that he won't be out of the country for his job I'll get to see whatever concert I want for free, also access to the VIP room, whatever that is. Since it is a new job he is still finding out what other perks there are. He always gets T&E. On non-event days he can work from home, he will only need to go into the office a few times a month.

I work as a Lab Tech at our local hospital and employees get a 50% discount on any stays/services in the hospital. That's good because I don't have health insurance.

My best perk is getting to work at home. I have a laptop they pay for my cable internet access. I would be too cheap to pay for cable internet access.
We also have summer hours - half day of Friday by working 1 hr each day Mon-Thurs - I do this at home early in the am

I work for a major Pharmacuetical company so I get all of their over the counter stuff for a fourth of the retail costs. Great for baby gifts, stocking up, etc.

I don't travel as much as I did - but the mileage points that I received by flying business class to the Netherlands - I received 2 free airlines tickets to Mexico.

The best perk is the flexibility.

government discounts in hotels. Free train rides. 20 percent off my cell phone bill. Free medical/dental/optical ins. If I wanted to go to college they have a college assistance program too that would pay for a good portion.

We get one garment a week cleaned and pressed for free.

Up to about 5 years ago I got free gas! It was not unlimited, but I never used the max amount. Of course that came to a screeching halt :guilty:

It isn't a perk, strictly speaking, but there is always food around my workplace. We have guests in and we entertain so there is usually some extra. Someone in our workplace bakes a couple of cakes every week :thumbsup2

One great perk is free home internet, cable, and phone :)
