What kind of job do you do from home?

I work as a freelance proofreader/indexer/editor from home. This was my profession prior to staying home with my 2 children - I worked for several publishing houses. I am now back in school and works out nicely because I can take work as I see fit.

Good luck!

Could you please pm me too ? I have tried, or researched, most of everyone else's suggestions, but this sounds very cool and doable :)

Why can't people just post info here.

It's driving me crazy. CAn't we just ask people to share the info and they can post it here?

I understand the one with the company in FL with privacy issues but other than that, what gives?

Thanks.

Trish

so far KGB sounds most interesting. It's like chacha but pays more correct? Thanks.

Here in Indiana substitute teaching only pays $65 per day. Not bad but not great!

Can someone give me more infor about KGB please? I looked on their website but it doesn't have any place to apply for a telecomuting position. TIA!

At the very bottom of the KGB website is a bunch of links. One of those links is "Become an Agent" or something like that. When you click on that, it takes you to a page that has a "challenge" or test to take. Once you past the test (and I know when I took it, you could take it however many times you needed to to pass), you'll receive information about how to become an agent or if they are in a holding pattern for hiring, more information about how long it'll take to begin hiring again. Once you fill out their information and such, they put you through online training that to help you learn their system and also how to search for the answers and such. These little "tests" and "trainings" are all timed and have to be completed within a certain time frame (i.e. they might say you have to complete this within 72 hours). I liked the training and tests because it gave me a better understanding of what I was doing.

What KGB is is a company that people text questions into and the KGB agents search for the answer and then send it back to the customer. It is kind of like ChaCha I think. I had left ChaCha when the started going to the text questions just because I didn't like their pay scale. KGB pays in direct deposit to your bank account so you will need a bank account to do it. One thing that I really like with KGB is the training that they give; I didn't feel like ChaCha really trained enough; and the help that they give when you're working.

Oh and the website for the challenge is 542542.com/agent

I would love  to get any information on this if you would be willing to share it. :)
This would be so much fun, especially if you could do it from home. :goodvibes

Thanks so much,
CK in VA

I also work from home for Arise, have been doing it for 3yrs now, while its not a get rich quick scheme it does help with additional income since hubby been out of a job since Jan. 2009. I'm currently servicing Disney dining and I really enjoy it pays about $8 per hour.

With three children, 1 in college, I'm always looking for other ways to make additional money.

Hi I would love to hear more about this if you are willing to share. Thanks so much for your time. :)

Thank you! I will go and set up a bank account just for this. I don't want anything tied to our regular accounts. I started going throught the training for ChaCha but then stopped because I read about the pay scale being not very good. If you don't mind me asking, are you able to make say $300 a month without being tied to the computer 23 hours a day? I appreciate all the info! :cutie:

No problem. As I said, I like KGB better then ChaCha. As for pay, I've been doing very little of it right now because we're in the middle of moving so I've had no free time but over the summer, in a two hour time period, I made about $5.55. They only pay $0.10 for a full response and $0.05 for a validation response but if you pick busy times, then I'm sure you can make okay money. I see people making $900 a month but I do not know how many hours that they do.

For the people that do KGB how does this work with taxes? How do you claim this? I am afraid to do something like this because of taxes.

Hi Everyone,

Please note that I'm trying to pm everyone as much as I can, so please bear with me.

I too also hate the fact that we can't just post the info on the board but oh well.

I've noticed couple posters mentioning startup fees please keep in mind that everything that's done for your business is a tax write-off (make sure you have a good accountant). Yes, I was nervous when I first read into the fact that I had to put out money, because losing money at any given time is not something I want to do. I've lost money to stuffing envelopes, remember that one :rotfl2:.

Yes you do pay for training but how else would you know about the client that you will be working for?

With anything that I do...I research, research and research until I'm satisfied.
