do you have for Trick-or-Treat? Do you buy treats that you personally like or treats you think kids would like?

Last year, Mr. Mike and Mr. Shrek had Necco wafers to give out and they were surprisingly well received. (We mostly thought they were setting themselves up for a TP sh*tstorm but we were 100% wrong.) This year, I'm doing Smarties because I thought kids would like'em and I'll tell ya -- it's like where have they been all my life?!?! I am thinking I am going to have to go back to the store and buy another bag. They are REALLY GOOD! Who knew?!?!

Classic.

I've never had Necco Wafers. Are they chalky?

I'm going to be at WDW for Halloween..... :woohoo: .....but I believe my roomie will be handing out Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. It's not very creative, but most kids seem to love 'em.

We are thinking about giving out those popsicles that have the liquid in the clear tubes that you freeze (into popsicles). A friend of mine did that last year and all the kids LOVED it because it was something different. :thumbsup2
When I used to work at the Disney Store years ago, I would buy up small items on clearance and give them out (stuff that cost me like quarter or so) and the kids were REALLY excited!!!!

lol smarties.... we are giving out min choc bars, aero, smarties, coffee crisp and kit kat's. some parents get so nasty if you give out stuff with peanuts. I'm sorry if your kid has a nut allergy but I like reese PB cups. LOL so to avoid any controversary we avoided the peanut stuff.

Trust me, my roomie bought the PB cups for himself. LOL I just checked: He bought 3 bags of the PB cups and every year we only get 5-10 kids. (I think last year we only got 3.) I guess that's the way it goes when you live in a neighborhood that consists mostly of gay men and single young buisiness owners.

Victorian Village???

We bought a combination of candies and teddy grahams. We have gummy spiders and some Superman candy... that sort of stuff.

We bought things we wouldn't be likely to eat as we are both on a pretty strict diet, so no reason to have temptation derailing our efforts. :teeth:

Last year we had so many kids we were raiding the pantry and giving out microwave popcorn and anything else we could find that we thought kids might like.

This year, when the candy is gone we are turning off the lights!

Yep...Hilliard.:goodvibes

Seriously? I used to help with Darby High School's colorguard during the marching band season with a friend of mine. :) It's a small world......after all. ;)

(Sorry, Tuckandstuiesmom--I'll try not to ambush the topic any more. :lmao: )

I got a bunch of moni jones sodas like these http://www.bevnet.com/reviews/jones_halloween/

not exactly the same but close

then i have full size snickers, milky way, mike and ike , m&m ETC

THEN:eek:

i have a bucket filled with organic fruit snacks and organic granola and organic juice boxes

I like the variety.....

I don't think I will have any left over. I have at least 60 cans of soda and 90 full size bars. I am afraid i am going to run out!! But I have small snack size backups if needed!!

Now in our defense....we really do not do christmas. No tree no decorations:confused3 So we spend it all on Halloween!!!

Are you asking what _I_ like for my kids to get, or what my kids like to get? LOL

I like Snickers, twix, anything yummie. My kids like Crunch bars, Mr Goodbars, hersheys. They also love the little rings that are spiders or pumpkins, little silly hats, pencils, toothbrushes, etc etc. Usually they get a variety of junky things they really like also :).

Of course I throw out all the junkie colored hard candies because Jared is allergic to the colors/flavors. Herskey isn't great, but its sure not over the top like some pixistix, or suckers, etc etc.

There used to be a bar in Cambridge MA that was next door to the Necco wafer factory. Not sure if it's still open...Wally? But you would come out of that place at 2am smelling like a piece of candy! :rotfl2:

If you grew up catholic, they were the best candy, you could play "priest" and offer your firends "communion"

Yes they are a little chalky, but quite good!

Sorry both are defunct! :sad2:

ok we are definitely on our way to your house too:thumbsup2

love Necco wafers.........LOL

ok to answer, I buy candy that everyone here likes, so if there are leftovers, they don't get wasted....:lmao:
so I usually buy the variety bags of chocolate stuff, like snickers pb cups, goodbars, etc........
and usually a mixed bag with smarties tootsie rolls...........

we already are into one bag of candy I bought, its gummy body parts, my kids are too funny, eating "feet, noses and hands".......LOL

Been there, done that! :rotfl2:

This year we keep buying combo bags of "Fun Size" 100 Grand, Butterfinger, Baby Ruth, & Crunch bars.

I say we keep buying them, because we've eaten three bags so far. (So much for buying early. :rotfl: )

We've got no idea how many kids to expect for Trick-or-treating, because this is the first year since we moved into our house that we won't be heading over to the Adventurers Club for Halloween. :(

So instead of our tradition of Halloween at the club, we're hosting a Halloween Party at our house. So we've got lots of candy and hope that anything not given out to kids will be consumed by tipsy adults. :thumbsup2

The scariest part of this, by the way, is that Scott has decided to decorate our yard! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I'm afraid. I'm very very afraid.
