What kind of flowers on Desperate Housewives

Those are not gladiolus . My best guess was overgrown/mutant hyacinths (the ones that line her walkway to the house). I have wondered what they are. I think they look fake, but maybe they are real ?

I sort of think some images of Tall Phlox look like that, but they might not actually sit in the flower bed on the set. The set plants could be in deep set beds and kept in containers for easy arrangment and swapping in and out from greenhouse supplies. I've never seen so many or arranged that way but the flowers are very bright and the plant is very hardy.

that is not the flowers she was talking about....the link you shared is a different home, i know what she meant. they are gladiolus or similar flower. i know what hydrangeas look like, the ones we are talking about are elongated. whether or not they are real or fake, does not matter if they are fake they are modeled after real flowers. the flowers she is mentioning are the ones surrounding a large tree in the yard of one of the homes.

uh....you know all the flowers they use on the show are fake - right? Hard to get real flowers in the colors they show.

they don't look fake to me and I often see pretty vibrant flowers in real life, I would expect sunny southern California is full of pretty flowers.

Yes, they are fake. Entertainment Tonight or one of the tabloid shows interviewed either Terry Hatcher or Felicity Huffman a while back and the actress was standing on the front lawn, next to the flowers. I think she accidentally stepped on one. When she realized it, she purposely mentioned that ALL the flowers & foliage on the lawns were fake and that's how the lawns look so perfect week to week. That is also how the show keeps continuity, if they have to go back & re-shoot something later.
