We are going to Disney with our 3 yr old and 1 yr old and are planning on bringing our Double stroller which is a Babyjogger Citimini Double (which we love btw!!)... we are planning on renting a car but I just don't know what kind of car to rent that will fit our 2 kids with carseats and all of our luggage and this double stroller... at home we drive a mini-van but i was trying to avoid paying extra to rent a minivan... but i'm concerned about us not being able to fit it all in a regular car...

any advice?

I would think maybe a midsize at least. The City Mini folds pretty flat, so it shouldn't take up too much room. I would think the suitcases could fit in the trunk, stroller on top of them, and maybe room for a few small bags in the backseat, on the floor or between the carseats.

You'll just have the bags in there with everyone for a short drive to the hotel (right?), so I think you could get by with something smaller than a minivan, for sure!

We just got back with our 2 year old twins, their car seats, our luggage and our Baby Jogger City Double (not mini though). We had rented a standard SUV, but when we got there they gave us a Jeep Patriot, which is 1 category lower than what we rented. All our stuff couldn't fit, so they ended up giving us a Town & Country minivan for the same price because they didn't have any Jeep Cherokees left.

I'll rent a minivan from now on. It was great having the extra space and it was nice not to worry.

At home we drive a Ford Escape and a Ford Explorer. Trying to pack the car on the way to the airport we didn't even fit our luggage and our single stroller in the Escape (mid size SUV). We still had to pick up my DM and her bag too. All I can say is thank God we rented a full size SUV in FL.

I would not think a double stroller and any amount of luggage for a family, plus the family, would fit in a regular car.

3 of us are taking DME and my DH is picking up the rental this year b/c of the huge prices on car rentals. This way we don't need to transport all the luggage and the stroller at the same time. We are only getting a mid-size this year.

too small. I assume there will be 3 bags (DW, DH, and DKs) plus the stroller, maybe a playpen for the 1yo, etc...

Midsize won't work. too small

We got a Patriot or was it a Dodge Nitro.. eitehr way same car, different name.. we had 2 carseats, and the space was too tight in the rear row, but then we tried to fit a family member who was there with us. Luckily my parents met us at the airport and took some of our luggage. We had 3 bags and the sit and stand stroller. Parents provided a playpen or else we'd be doomed. We traded it in the next day for a minivan at $18 more for the 10 day trip. We will never, as long as the kids are small, take anything less than a fullsize SUV or minivan. i got the Midsize SUV for $240, compared to the regular Minivan and SUV of over $500.. so paying $18 over the $240 was a deal for the minivan.

Keep looking daily for deals, and look at off-site locations too.

That's a good idea, as then it saves the car for traveling, rather than luggage transportation.
