What kind of adhesive do you use for shaker boxes?

I was just wondering what kind of adhesive everyone uses for shaker boxes? Has anyone tried to run the foam through a zyron? Did the shaker filling stay inside the box?

If you use the sizzix die or the Cricut cut shaker box, what do you use on the flaps?

Thanks for any ideas!

Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT use this brand of glue for the foam to transparency-

Adhesive Tech, The Glue Tube, liquid glue with sponge applicator, Advanced Adhesive Solutions

It works just fine for foam to foam and foam to paper. But it will "spill its guts" if you bend or twist the transparency part of the box.

I think I will be sticking with double sided foam sticky tape and just make everything squared.

I never heard of those...are they with the foam stuff?

When you say double stick foam tape, you mean like the 3m roll if it?

I know Buffy did a cyber-class, but I can't find it to see what glue she was using...

I have a Scotch brand 1/2" roll that states photo safe, Therm o Web brand acid free sticky Strips that come in 1/4" and 1/2" widths with a length of 5-1/2" and a roll of Miss Elizabeth's brand acid & lignin free 1/2" width. All these are double sided sticky.
I've also used the Art Accentz brand thin sticky tape to hold down the transparency material.

Hmmmm..... I hope the ones I just finished stay bonded. They were good here before I mailed them...

Finally found the class Buffy did...

Nothing specific on the adhesive...but this is how I did mine with the slide mount...I'm thinking that the foam tape would be much faster, as there is no drying time...but Buffy says zyron, so I'm going to try that and see what happens...

I'll post when they arrive if they were the slide mounts.. so far mine are still sticking.. and I have even put them on my electric blanket.. I used my xyron..

I use my Xyron also. Back when I did swaps, I received many really nice shaker boxes. Unfortunately, many or most of them didn't make it through the mail intact. :( Some didn't stay bonded, but even the ones with double sided foam tape often leaked. Evidently, it's hard to get a tight seal...you can't be skimpy with the fit of the foam tape. :confused3

Sweet Maxine, who used to post here, told me that she was creating little sealed pouches with her Seal-A-Meal. I have to say that this solution really works for me! There's no way you can have a leak - unless the transparent material gets slit somehow. I did run into some trouble getting the foam to stick to the transparent stuff I was using (baseball card sleeves - that way a couple sides are already done) until I tried the Xyron. That works great. Sweet Maxine said she just used a glue stick & it worked for her. Evidently I was using a cheaper brand.

The only problem with using the Xyron is that the Sizzix slide mount die doesn't quite fit through the little X. I ended up getting a 500, which solved several other issues I was having anyway. Gotta love those Mike's 50% sales! :teeth:
