What items do you wish they sold at the DVC "General Store"?

I realize that the DVC "General Stores" (Marketplace, etc.) can't have everything on hand to sell.

Yet I am amazed that they don't have some items.

For Us, we are ice cream freaks, but I can never find the nozzle type Whip Cream or even Cool Whip? On my next visit to BCV, I am going to check out the PICABU cafeteria at the Swan/Dolphin that supplies some grocery items 24 hours a day, maybe I will luck out on a few choices not found in the DVC stores.

What common selling items are you surprised that they DO NOT HAVE at the Disney DVC resort store?

Resort-specific clothes. I guess these didn't sell well, because even the non-DVC store no longer sells resort-specific shirts and such. I would have a new t-shirt on my last trip, though, had it been there!

I wish in general Disney would stop selling low end junk in their stores.

I wish they had one store that sold quality products at a higher price. Nice clothes, toys that last longer than 1 day. I wish Disney worked with some high end manufacturers instead of cheap garbage.

When did they stop selling resort specific shirts?? DH collects one from each resort we stay at....he just got one last week for HHI and he got one for AKV in March.

You said inexpensive when talking about Disney! That's a GOOD one!!

We just picked up a pack of Disney character silly bandz at the Merchantile at HHI last week as a gift for someone & when we got home DS says "did you know these were $6!?! NO!! I didn't even LOOK!! Those things are like $2 in the "real world" but out of convenience I just picked them up without checking the markup at Disney!! Boy do I feel like DOH!!

Oh I hope that's wrong! DH will be bummed...he still needs shirts from BWV, BLT & VGC as we haven't stayed there yet!! Oh, and OKW 'cuz that was our first ever trip & he started collecting the shirts AFTER we stayed there. I agree that the selection has never been a LOT...usually just either a golf / polo shirt or a tshirt...but at least there was SOMETHING.

When we were at BWV in June there was no resort clothing - not a polo with a logo on it or anything. The CM told us they were not carrying that any more and that some resorts might have a few things left but it wasn't being re-stocked.

BLT has a 16 oz box of Chef Mickey pancake MIX for 14.95 I guess Mickeys face has a huge premium or maybe they come with a pack of magic beans hidden on the inside.

I was amazed when they stopped discounting 6 packs of beer. Does anybody actually buy a $30 six pack of beer? Is Disney supporting the return of Prohibition, or are they just pushing the limit? That beer is costing them $4 - $6. The wine and liquor prices, although high, are not marked up anywhere near that much. I wonder if anybody has ever asked about the discrepancy.

I did some investigating on this subject during my last trip..
VWL and VGC were two of the resorts that are keeping a small inventory of resort specific merchandise. VGC has by far the best selection. BC/BCV has completely eliminated it. The manager suggested writing letters...

Yeah, "somebody" actually did late in the evening after a long, hot day at the parks. We won't put ourselves in that position again.

After spending $42 once at SSR for 3 Miller Lites, 2 diet cokes, a quart of milk, some cream cheese & margarine we started getting grocery deliveries that include a case or two of bottled water & a case of beer.

It's bumming me out, too. I guess too few people bought the stuff to justify stocking it. It's probably more profitable to stock generic Disney stuff and pink plastic princess stuff.

I'm glad they still carry a few things at VWL. I buy at least one resort-specific thing every trip. I'll keep my fingers crossed that there's a nice WL-specific shirt there this time. Last trip, I got a very nice polo and I'd like to get something similar if they have them.

Since BLT has opened there has only been two pins sold for BLT. The opening day Logo one that sold out within 2 hours and one in the four pack with 3 other DVC resorts. All of the other BLT pins that are out there for trade or sell on ebay are DVC give away pins for attending sales presentations, either on the DCL ships or at BLT.

I still can't believe they are so blind that they cannot see that people are interested in buying these pins. When I've asked at the Fantasia Store at CR, they just shrug and say we haven't had any for BLT since opening day. It so obvious that they get asked over and over again.

And as to DVC items, the ones I've seen are often of limited colors and are not really in fashion. However, we bought a Kidani tee that was really a nice print, but the tee was paper thin. At the time we thought that was okay since it was 95 degrees outside. But now I realize that expensive t-shirt will wear out quick. That tee is a perfect example of cheap product sold for an exorbitant amount.
