the food and wine festival??

We will be in a vacation home from 10/8 to 10/15 and then WL from 10/15 to 10/22... will the crowds be bad at that time of the year with columbus day?? What day IS columbus day?? Canadian here so please excuse me!! Is everything closed on that day like it is up here on our thanksgiving Monday on the 11th??

hoping I didn t choose the wrong time of the year to go!!

I think it is primarily at Epcot in the WS. I went once during it and did not find the crowds to be terribly bad.

It's fun sampling all the food and wine from around the world!

Columbus Day is Monday October 11th. Kids are out of school but I don't think that should affect crowds too much. The food and wine festival is in WS at EPCOT only. I think it is pretty popular. It is included with price of admission but you do pay for the food/wine. I personally think it would be a lot of fun to check it out, you can always park hop if it is too crowded. I would check all of the dates, etc. on the Disney site. We do not take our kids out of school for vacation but DH and I would love to go the F and W festival, maybe in 12 years when the kids are all done with school LOL.....Lacee

No separate ticket needed for the F&W Festival, you just need your park pass to get into EPCOT and then you are all set. For the F&W Festival they have different booths set up so you can sample different foods and some wines from all over the world. I think the samples cost $1.00 to $5.00. This October will be my first time going to the F&W Festival and the reason why I know some info. is because my good friend has gone to it and she told me all about it. And in fact we are both going together this year, I can't wait!

In addition to the booths already mentioned, Food and Wine festival has some classes and demonstrations you can sign up for. Some are free - some not. One thing they did 2 years ago that was neat was they opened up the greenhouses at The Land. You could walk through and at each section, they had a CM explaining what was done there. They had tables with samples of what they grew and you could see, touch, smell the stuff. At the cotton growing area, the kids could take a little piece of cotton. Stuff like that - it was really neat.
