What is your yearly vacation budget PER person.

I was wondering what is everyone vacation budget per person. I thought that doing it person will give us a better idea since there are so many different size families. Just divide your vacation budget by the number of family members and let's leave 3 year olds and under out. Not just for WDW.

I do two large-ish trips a year (usually a one week cruise and then 4-5 days somewhere else) which probably add up to $4000pp and then I figure another $1-2k on weekend/long weekend trips which I try to sneak in at least every other month.

Why 3? My kid has been paying full price for plane tickets since she was 12 months.

I budget around $5k. This year went overbudget. As soon as we booked our cruise, my brother announced he had finally set a date for the wedding...three weeks before our cruise. I would have spent around $7k this year, $2k of which was not really planned.

We don't have a budget really... I chose the option that I think we've been in the last couple of years though. We joke that I work for our vacations but we don't spend nearly that amount.

Our next Orlando vacation is costing $1750 pp, or $109 pp/per day (16 day trip). This is taking every single expense into account, from the park and fly hotel to the cat sitter and everything in between.

Our "yearly" budget is completely unknown. Sometimes we take shorter family trips (2-6 days) in lieu of birthday parties/gifts, Mothers and Father's day presents, or Christmas. Its still too soon to decide what those will be for later in the year, as they require far less planning than an out-of-country getaway.

I don't really have a 'set' budget. We cruise once a year, that's usually $1,000-1,500 total for the trip (not per person). Then our Disney trips seem to average about $3,000 for 9 nights total.

It varies depending on where we want to go and how business is doing/how much we have to work with, but most years it is in the $1-2K per person range.

I have the upcoming year planned and budgeted out for a family of 4.... 10 days in Puerto Rico- one weekend beach camping, 5 days woods camping, 2 weeks visiting family in midwest, 10 days in Disney(Orlando) budgeted out 1000 per person total all inclusive for the next year.
It all depends on what we have planned. And hopefully the budget stays steady,and works out as planned. It usually comes pretty close to what I have written out.

It's just DH and I. We are around $3500-4000pp this year. That's for 8 nights at POR Royal Room with all of the trimmings.

Drinks and gratuity not covered in DP (estimated based on last trip)
Souvenirs (including Disney prints from that shop in DTD)
Flights
Airport parking
Room Tips
Cat sitter

I'm trying to stay at $1500 pp for the year, or $6k for a family of 4. We just went to Europe (heavily subsidised by my mother - thank you family!!). We have a week in the Smokies planned in July and a long weekend in WDW in October. Over and above that we have 3-4 weekend camping trips planned. Oh and hubby and I are planning 2 adult weekend getaways - one to the Rockies and another to Cancun.

Thankfully, we have lots of hotel points and airmiles (we apply for lots of credit cards for their sign up bonuses) so most things are covered. Our camping trips usually ends up being a really expensive option for weekend getaways. We can stay in hotels for free (with points), but dish out $40 a night to camp. Oh well - we do love camping and at the end of the day, for us, it's worth it just to be outdoors.

next March, we're booked for Disneyland! Can't wait

Why are you surprised? This is a forum dedicated to vacationing at a pretty pricey place. If you asked the same question on a Dave Ramsey board, I could see being surprised at a number that high.

I'd rather see how those numbers translate into % of total income. Let's face it, $6K pp to a person bringing home $60K is a much bigger budget item to him than $6K pp is to the guy bringing home $200K.

Can I ask what all credit cards you've used for their sign up bonuses to get hotel nights? DH and I have done the southwest cards to get free flights, but I haven't really seen any hotel ones that seem to give high bonuses.

I'd love to get some free hotel nights for our trips!
