What is your typical wait time to get into your grocery store?

Costco in our area opens at 7am. Last couple of weeks I've gone around 7:30am, no line to get in and not much of a line at the registers. I swing by another store after that to get the rest of the stuff on the list and no wait there either.

I had to go to H-E-B today. I HATE going to H-E-B because even if I go to a cashier line, no one ever bags my groceries. They will be all over the other lines but if I stand and wait, nothing. Occasionally I’ll see one that I think is approaching, but they walk right by without asking or anything, even if I pause. I’m also the kind of person that puts things in the belt in somewhat of an order. Cold stuff together, meat together, “breakables” like bread chips and eggs at the end. Anyways, so I was prepared to bag as usual. Well I start and a guy tells me “you need to step over here please” which is about 6 feet in front of the whole checkout area in the “exit” aisle. And there’s a worker there, a woman that appears to be around my moms age. So she waits until the ENTIRE order has been scanned and fully cleared the belt into the bagging area. I think, ok she wants to see it all to make sure she puts it where it needs to go. Until she puts frozen veggies with a cardboard box of crackers and this package of meat with that bag of chips. So I start to step up to tell her and am told to step back to my place by the other guy. Okay, then you leave me know choice—so I start yelling above the noise. “Put this with that” “don’t put the bread on the bottom of the basket first” etc etc. sorry if they got annoyed. And no, I couldn’t go to self check, I had a basketful. Plus at H-E-B they have those little self service areas. I’m sticking with Walmart from now on. Where if I have a basketful I can go to cashier or to one of the full belt self serves.

....well the number of folks wearing masks was not high...or the not working young adults just don't care and there were more of them in the store today than seniors. I find it discouraging that no one can bothered with a t-shirt mask or scarf.

I've never had to wait at Giant Eagle or Aldi (Pittsburgh suburbs). I usually go pretty early in the morning.

DD in Washington DC has to line up on Saturday morning, before store is even open. I think that is Trader Joe's.

Wow, my Costco doesn't open until 10 regularly.

No waits, but we also never ever go to any kind of warehouse store, like Costco, BJ's, Sam's, etc.

Here the stores have been ramping up to the point where shoppers must have a mask (or other face covering) to even be allowed into the store.

I try to only go once a week, but everyone in Giant Eagle has had a mask on. I thought it was odd that none of the Aldi workers had them, just heard to PA governor today mandated masks for all workers in businesses that are open.

......and that is my situation here in the middle of nowhere....we don't have anything to with the other 49, even tough imperial valley California is having more cases....50 miles away.

There haven't been any lines here. Aldi had some to start the day a couple of weeks ago but crowds have thinned to the point where they don't really have to do that any more.

Our aldi has face shields between the register person and those checking out.

The new order also includes that most open businesses are to require customers to wear masks upon entry, but the local news hasn’t really discussed that yet. Enforcement to begin Sunday at 8 pm. The businesses can be fined, lose license, etc. for noncompliance. The bottom of the page says Wolf recommends all citizens where masks while out. I am guessing it may be another thing he doesn’t believe to be legal to require of citizenry, whereas the state has more control over business licensing.

In MD our Governor just decreed everyone needs to wear a mask/covering when in a store/retail/pharmacy/public transport (probably others, I just can't recall exactly-but you get the drift). Starts on Saturday morning. Not sure why we wait till Saturday, either folks have a mask or not, and if not they improvise with a scarf or whatever. But that is what it is.
I have a n95, plus another similar weight mask but I feel like I can't breath when I have them on, so I may use a scarf if I have to go out, if I figured out my food order right I think we are good for 2 weeks.

Online wait times are getting much better. Im able to get one for 72 hours from now, a huge improvejent over 7 days.
On average, 90% of my order has been acailable

I've been avoiding the larger stores, where all of the cars are. The smaller stores have no wait, and less cars in the parking lot, Aldi, Walgreens, Dollar General, and Dollar Tree are my go to for now.

Most waits are 5 minutes or less around me. But the new grocery fliers come out tomorrow, so I expect the wait could be a bit longer. Today is a good day to shop crowd wise but the flier deals ending today are long gone.

Haven't been to the store in over 2 weeks. I get an Instacart delivery once a week

Maybe 10 minutes but we very burbs. Oh we are in 60 group. Well actually I am 58, husband 61- 62 on the 21st. Going tomorrow 1st time this month.

Please do not go grocery shopping. Order online and pick it up. Save lives. I am a nurse and have not been into a grocery store for over a month.

There are zero openings for grocery pick up around here unless you wait a week or more. So grocery shopping it is.
