I was in the middle of checking local sunrise/sunset times in Orlando when I thought, humm that might be a bit obsessive. What's your most "obsessive" trip planning moment?

Ha ha, I check sunrise /sunset times, too. My packing routine is obsessive. It starts weeks ahead, involves trips to the Dollar Store, lots of Ziplock bags, and filling and emptying suitcases several times. I don't pack that way for other destinations!

Not obsessive at all.

All of the evening spectaculars need complete darkness in order to be performed.
Knowing that "darkness" occurs about 25-30 minutes after sunset can give you a good idea of how late these shows may start,
even when Disney has not yet posted the final hours and events.
Especially true these days for DHS and DAK.

I check sunrise/sunset times too - haha! I also, like many here I would guess, plan meals right down to what I'm going to order. I also start packing about a month in advance. And make about 2349023598324 different lists of various nature. It's all part of the fun for me!

This is EXACTLY what I do, and for Disney only!

I will give you my husband's. He makes up park schedules for himself (and for us). Included are fast pass times (I have no problem with this), bathroom breaks (what?), repeat ride anticipated times (really?), locations, time lengths and food choices for meals (not even amusing), possible nap breaks (I am not a baby and don't need or schedule naps), free time slots (isn't that most of the vacation?) and a few other things. He then puts the schedules in sheet protectors and hands them out. We toss ours. He refers to his throughout the trip as if it were handed down on stone tablets.

I obsessively check Accuweather for Orlando's forecast starting about a month out from our trips. Makes no difference that I absolutely know how unpredictable the weather in Orlando is, lol!

He and I would get along! There are sheet protectors involved in my packing routine. I, too, am the only one that refers to them, but it gives me great pleasure to,prepare them regardless of who reads the plans.

Uhm... I don't really find any of that obsessive :).
I *guess* planning out, memorizing the Q's menus so I know what's close by if we feel a little hungry. Didn't want any hangry campers in my group

I do the exact same thing. I'll look at different restaurants and their menus and plan out what I'm going to get and then, more often than not, I don't even get them when I go there... Or I end up eating somewhere else. The packing thing too. I head down to Disney a month from now and 2 weeks ago I started a packing list. I was originally going to just do the list for now but I ended up throwing some things in a suitcase too. Everyone thinks I'm weird. I just love packing and organizing things. And then I'll pack & repack several times.

I make spreadsheets too. And obsessively check the weather even when I know it's still too far out to get a more accurate prediction.

That isn't obsessive...I have a spreadsheet with sunrise/sunset/ average high temp/ historical rain percentage/ park hours/ fastpasses/ dinner reservations/ driving directions/ transportation methods/ crowd estimates and travel time estimates for our last 8 trips and a new page constructed for our December trip.

I want my first visit to Pandora to be at night, so I was looking to see how early I could arrive.

Today would be a perfect example. We are literally in the middle of a blizzard-about 14 inches of snow have fallen so far, there is a high wind and coastal flood warning, my husband is away on a business trip and we have no way to get out of our driveway unless my 16 year old son can figure out how to use the snow blower (crushed stone driveway cannot be plowed without destroying it) and rather than worry about any of that I am sitting here trying to rearrange a bunch of our days to fit the new RoL schedule that was just released and praying that the electricity and internet hold up until I get everything perfect. Mind you, if the power goes out, we lose not only electricity but heat and water and cell towers too very often and our generator is in an outbuilding that is an acre and a half away from our house-in other words no way to push it through the snow to the driveway. You would think we live in the middle of nowhere but no, this is coastal CT, which just happens to turn into the middle of nowhere during blizzards and hurricanes.

My low/high point of obsessive planning was planning our trip last summer and I was looking for a bag on Amazon. The bag had to be brown and small. . . It was for my sons to hold their shiny things for Jawa trading at HS.

I could have easily used a ziploc bag. But I was a bit obsessed.

*was*

I am perfectly fine now. I swear!

:rotfl2:

These are awesome! Makes me realize that I'm not alone! Now that my trip is over I need something to obsess over. I turn on my computer and don't know what to do. So here I am back on dis. I love it here!

Last trip, I tracked the wait times obsessively for all of the rides to find trends... but it was six months in advance!!

My wife and I start obsessively planning at about 7 months out, then start obsessively packing about 1 month out. From ADR's to FP's to meticulously planned and re-planned touring plans. We plan everything out to the n'th degree and attack the parks like we are Seal Team 6. It works for us. We have wondered if there will ever come a day where we relax and just go with the flow, but several years into our Disney obsession and it hasn't happened yet. We have done WDW several times and DLR once. I really, really, really want to do Tokyo Disney and Disney Sea. That will take the planning to a whole other level.

We leave for our second Disneyworld trip in 12 days! I've been checking the weather, wait times, hours, and packing here and there for a few weeks. My husband said it's a little obsessive, I call it being excited haha.
