What is your strange OCD/obsession?

Every night I have to say goodnight to our dog as well as to our dearly departed dog - I guess I just feel that his spirit or something is still about!

If I am done eating, I do not want the plate to stay in front of me. Yep, this becomes a bit high maintenance in a restaurant. :rotfl:

Also, I can only eat tic tacs in even numbers and the sound of people clipping their nails is enough to send me screaming from a room.

My son can't read the paper if anyone has read it before him and not put it back the way it came. I like my bills in order (all 5's, 10's ect together) and facing the same way and then folded once. It is harder to do in the States though because of all the 1's.

Oh my!! I have way too many to count...
1. The clothes follow ROYGBIV and by sleeve length.
2. DVDs and CD in ABC order and by type of movie
3. I compulsively check my alarm when I have to set one (which is rare) but I set it and reset it like 30 times before I am convinced it will work

The only one I have is with leaving the stove on.

I have a system but it doesn't always work, so I'll leave for work and start wondering if I shut it off or not. Then, I just think...oh, well...the worst thing that will happen is that the place will burn down and I can get all new stuff. Worry stops and on with my day.

The only thing that pops out at me that I do that could be considered an OCD is I always have to check and recheck and check again that the door is locked when I leave. I especially am bad about it when I am watching someone elses pet when they are on vacation - I always am checking and rechecking that the door is locked. If my DH is with me I will always ask him after we drove away "was the door locked, was it shut all the way, etc." When I watched my sister's cats I started taking a picture of the door with my phone since you can see that the deadbolt was locked. With my house you can't really see the deadbolt but thankfully my dh is usually home after I leave for work so I don't have to worry about being the one shutting and locking the door. I have been known to drive away and then have to turn back around to make sure the door is shut and locked - it use to make me late for work all the time when my dh had different hours.

Another little quirk I have is that I don't like to leave the dryer on when no one is home. That has made for some stinky clothes if I forget to restart the dryer when I get home and it sits for too long. I wouldn't really call that an OCD though - the other with me and the front door being shut and locked seems to me like an OCD since I tend to have an anxious, uneasy, can't think about anything else feeling until I am sure the door is shut and locked even after checking it again and again I am still unsure whether it is really shut and locked.

Actually, not leaving the dryer on while gone is not a quirk, it is a safety precaution. We had a story on the new that the dryer caught on fire while the person was home and it was followed by an interview with firemen saying not to do this. I also have a friend whose father was an insurance claim adjuster for home insurance, he said that the majority of fires they he settled were from dryers.

To me this is a no brainer, something that heats should never be left on while not at home, or as far as I am concerned, after going to bed wither.

Ahh...forgot a good one
4. I don't eat blue M&Ms

Oh, now that's FUNNY! :lmao:

Another one I thought of, I CANNOT let another person tie my shoes. They both have to be tied EQUALLY - one can't be tighter than the other.

I have to hang the clothes in my closet in ROYGBIV.
I do this too. I also alphabetize my CDs, DVDs, and Books!

I have a mild case OCD so I also do a lot of checking to make sure I have my keys and cell phone very often, drive back to make sure my garage door is closed, etc.

1. I always have to double check that my car windows are shut when it's raining even if I know I never open them because I'm afaird I'll forget to close them!

2. The volume on the TV has to be a multiple of 5 (usually 20 or 25). I don't know why. It just does.

I know I have many more but those are the only 2 interesting ones I can think of right now.

Whenever I do a sudoku puzzle, I have to circle the numbers I write in. I've tried not to do that, but after a little while I always go back and circle the numbers I've already entered. :confused3

I have 3 boys that fight over every little thing.

When I grocery shop, I will only buy stuff in packs of 3 or multiples of 3. So if fruit cups come in packs of 4, I have to buy 3 packs (4x3=12), so there is never just one in the cupboard. I just can't stand the arguements over who is entitled to the last pudding cup:upsidedow

I do the volume thing too! TV and my car radio. It gets to the point where I check to make sure the volume is set correctly in my car every time I get in, even if I only get out for a second. The TV in my room doesn't have numbers though, just the bar thing, and it drives me crazy because I never know what number its REALLY at.

I also check all four tires before I get in my car... only mine not other people's. I'll also mute my radio multiple times while driving to make sure there's no weird noises, mostly out of fear of a flat tire. My friends think I'm insane.

OMG! You two must be my long lost sisters! :rotfl: I also have to check my flat iron and other appliances (mostly the toaster oven & the dryer) before I leave the house. I love the idea of taking a pic with a cell phone! Brilliant! I'm sure that's what I'll be doing tomorrow before I leave the house.

I'm always worried that I've left mine plugged in so if hubby is home I get him to check behind me.

i wash my hands CONSTANTLY! i also never touch a public doorhandle, if it pulls open i use my sleeve, paper towel or bottom of my shirt. if it pushes open i use my foot or my elbow. my family makes fun of me all the time but i can't not do it!

i also hate touching change, it makes my skin crawl haha

i have a really bad habit of putting salt on things before i even taste it, which i should probably stop, i'm sure all that salt is not good for me!

1. I can't stand to have anything on my feet when I drive. I have to take what ever I have on my feet when I get in the car. I can drive in socks, but not shoes or flip flops. I did one time with very thin soled slippers, but it was very cold that day and almost drove me crazy cause I couldn't feel the pedals right.

2. When it is hot, I have to have a thin sheet covering my thigh and upper arm. No where else! Also in the winter, I have to have a cover over my head, but not my face, so that the heat stays in and kleps me warm. I also have had to have a big body pillow between my legs and under my top arm to sleep, no matter how warm or cold it is. That only since my first pregancy.

My OCD is about my bed. I have to wash my sheets every Monday. It is the last load I do again until Sunday. They have to have extra downey. My bed doesn't get made until I go to bed because I don't want anyone creasing my sheets. I have to get into bed first. When I get in I like to tap my feet to make sure I don't get anything into my clean sheets. I don't like to move around so much and mess it up. I like to smell the downey like crazy that first night.

My poor husband!
