What is your specialty?

I hate to cook and I stink at it -- but one thing I'm good at is chocolate chip cookies. Just finished making a batch for a picnic. My secret is use a little less flour and chips, plus beat the wet stuff well. So what are you good at whipping up?

Chocolate cupcakes, white icing. Devilled eggs. Also chocolate chip cookies....my secrets are use half butter, half crisco, a little MORE flour and fully DOUBLE CHIPS. It seems like there's not enough batter to hold the cookies together, but there really is! And if you make a double batch, it's not possible to use any sort of utensil to work the chips in. I've broken numerous spoons. Gotta use your hands!

I make good homemade bread. Somehow I can just tell when it *feels* right so I know how much flour to add. I make a braided loaf of bread that I stuff with honey baked ham and cheese, and it is <i>sooo</i> good.

I make an excellent key lime pie, peach crumb pie, fudge pecan pie, pumpkin pie, chocolate cream pie and cranberry orange pie. I guess I'm good at pies.

I also make some great stuffed cabbages.

My specialty? Ummm, well... as long as it didn't catch on fire during the cooking process, I'm happy. My husband has installed 6 smoke alarms in the house, two of which can be seen from the kitchen stove.

All this talk about cookies & pies is making me hungry. And just a bit envious b/c I am not very good at baking. I made a chocolate cake once & tried to frost it with white icing. My inlaws came for dessert and I actually told them it was chocolate chip frosting b/c of all the little cake bits that got crumbled in the frosting
I am obviously not a good baker, but I am a good cook. Some faves here are my broccoli-cheese soup, beef stew, swiss steak & lasagna. So I can make dinner if you guys will make dessert.

I'd have to say that mine is also chocolate chip cookies. They are super, but they are also about the only thing I can cook, LOL!

My almond/vanilla buttercreme frosting. My sil prefers it on my checkerboard cake the best (I use chocolate and yellow cake mixes for that one).

I make pretty good cornbread too.
