What is your opinion on the United Kingdom?

Because I am curious and my imagination is too vivid: OP, do you do something with all this information, are you a researcher?
You must have the most detailed files on some of people on this board here.

As you are usually not participating in discussions after the first post, are you observing something about human behaviour on this board?
So funny - I thought the same thing yesterday when I noticed that the same person was creating similar types of threads! Disboarders could certainly be a gold mine of data for someone who was interested.

In college, only female in a technical calculus class. Professor was old as dirt (he passed away the following semester) and felt women had no place in mathematics and let it be known in class quite frequently.

Technical Calculus didn’t come easy to me, but I worked my tail off to get an A just to spite the douche bag.

side note, all of my fellow classmates loved me;)

I think he's just nosey :rolleyes1

I was 16 or 17 years old, working my high school job at Roy Rogers. I was a cashier. At the end of my shift I was $10 short. the manager accused me of stealing it without coming out and saying those words in front of everyone. The next day he said he found it scrunched up in back of drawer but didn't apologize. He was the manager nobody liked. I quit shortly after that.

Well, let’s see. One of my managers, on a new job when I was first starting college, had to pull me aside and talk to me about being a little late every day. Like 8 or 10 minutes. :rolleyes1 I was a little shocked at the time, as I’d been working for many years at that point, it was my thing, and no one had ever really talked to me about it before. He was nice about it, though, and it did help me to change my ways. Although every now and then, almost 40 years later, he still gets on my case about being one of those “right on time” people, where he’s an early bird. That guy became my husband! 😅

I was on bed rest for most of my pregnancy and when I returned, my boss said to me "congratulations on having a baby, but if you're ever out that long again for something like that, you're going to look for a new job". Grrrr....

My daughter is in the process of fostering to adopt two little boys. She got them at 4 months and 4. It is a very long, difficult process with many ups and downs dealing with social workers, courts, etc. and in this case it has been a very emotional road. There were a few times we thought we would lose them. The people at work have been following this whole process which I might add came after many, many years of fertility treatments, miscarriage and tubal pregnancy. The one owner said to me one day when we were facing the possibility of having to lose them....."maybe you would just be better off to give "them" back and be done with all this crap! It cut me to the core. I will never forget and I am not sure I have forgiven either. People can be so cruel.

@*************.60, when I told the boss, who didn't like me because I was smarter than him, that we were adopting children from Russia, he said, "hmmph. I'm sure your excited, but I don't want to hear anything about it until you have to go to get them."

When we got back, I only had taken off a month, 3 weeks in Russia (some of it vacation time) and the rest FMLA. I used the week at home to get the kids settled into school. They were 5 and 6 when we adopted them. Luckily, the rest of senior management liked me, so they paid me for the entirety of the time I was off. I'm sure this ired my boss, too.

I had a boss tell me that I didn't have to be so nice to people. I was literally shocked. I was working as a receptionist at a travel agency and would greet people when they came in when they left say things like "have a good day" or "thanks for coming in today" or "enjoy your trip" . I left soon after that. I couldn't work for a place that didn't want you to be nice. It blew my mind.

My junior high English teacher (had her in both 7th and 8th grades) told me that I was not a creative person because I did not like poetry or understand it (she was all about the deeper meaning of every poem). I was a figure skater and it takes a lot of creativity to go out and perform programs and all the movements that go with it. I mentioned it to my coach and choreographer. They both came to my junior high graduation and the 2 of the cornered that teacher and gave her a piece of their mind about creativity and poetry!

In elementary school the PE teacher, whose turn it was to decorate the bulletin board in the cafeteria that month, made it a "blacklist" of all the kids who sucked at PE, and my name was on it.

She literally used a black background and had the words "Physical Education Blacklist" at the top of it, with a list of names below. Her meaning was very clear, because all of us on the list were the dorky kids who were not good at sports.

"Creative"

I still have the old book from 4th grade, every classmate had their name in it with the teachers comment about them. There were things like "outgoing, excellent student, a joy to have in my class", "great attitude, hard worker, I will miss you" and then mine just simply said "creative".

It was a real treat to go out for lunch or dinner when I was a child or get a pizza on a Saturday night.

It was also a red letter day when I got a frozen TV dinner and ate in front of the tv--Salisbury steak, mashed potatoes or fried chicken.

I tried to get a job at Smuckers Jam, but was told "I don't think you're ready for this jelly." That person went on to become Beyonce.

I'm kidding, but I once had a really bad boss in the only retail job I've ever had. I could give you a laundry list of the things he did. He even creeped on the female employees, one of whom he dated, got pregnant, then went home to her one day to tell her he's now seeing another employee whom he also got pregnant. He almost had the gall to make her move out, but his father (who owned that house) actually told him she can stay, and he can find his own place.

To me, he liked to make passive aggressive comments, even how I graduated college and he failed, yet he was my boss. He hated that the regional manager liked my work and even shook my hand. From then on, the jerk boss would never let me advance.

I left and now I'm working at a far better job with great pay and benefits, and he eventually was fired and has been working at a gas station. Lies to everyone, including his own family, and he's terrible to his brother, even picking on him for being gay.

"Stop posting inane social media questions all day long and clogging up the boards!"

Oh wait - he wasn't talking to me...
