What is your opinion on the United Kingdom?

Biggest rip off is soda. It is basically water with some corn syrup and caramel coloring added. No way it is worth $3 to $4 a glass.

At least in most places in the US you get free refills on fountain drinks. In Europe you get one tiny soda for even more money, you're better off getting a beer.

I'm not a burger person but I can't feed three of us at McDonald's or Wendy's for under $40.00. If 5 Guys is that much better, it would probably be worth a few bucks extra.

Your Wendy's doesn't have the 4 for $4 (I think it went up to $4.44 at some locations near me) deal? Or the $5 biggie bag? Both of those are more food than I can usually eat in one sitting myself.

- We're a good school system right next to a county with an awful school system, so people search for ways to cross the county lines /enroll in our schools illegally. This results in overcrowding for our schools.
- We have lots of good shopping and restaurants, so people from outlying counties flood into our area, creating massive traffic on weekends.

That's not much about which to complain.

When my Dad first joined the Navy, I had to travel in the back of a Pinto with no AC in the Summer, from South Carolina to California...twice. Good thing I was little and things like AC didn't bother me. Now would be an entirely different story.

Now for the funny part. Once we FINALLY got to San Diego, my parents wanted to drive over to Mexico to see how far away it was. (it was 3 miles) but when you're 7 years old you're thinking, "Driving to Mexico??? We JUST got here!" So I'm sitting in the back on the "hump" peering between my parents as usual and as we are riding up to the border, I see a sign that says, "Buses Taxis" and I moan loudly from the back seat, "OH NoooOO!!!" and my parents turn to look at me and say, "WHAT IS IT?" and I say, "WE'RE IN BUESUS TEXAS!!" lol Of course to this day, my Dad brings that up. Let me tell ya, to a little kid who's been in a car for a week, you don't want to be doin' no back trackin'. lol

.
We have the same issue- the next town is horrible- has a 44% graduation rate and is just overrun with gang activity, drugs and illegal activities, I honestly don't blame them for wanting to send their kids to a neighboring towns schools but we have enough kids of our own in this town.

I wonder if it’s area dependent? We just fed 6 us for $40 at Wendy’s. McDonalds isn’t much more. Neither are price comparable to Five Guys. Now I agree with others that the quality of FG is better, sometimes worth the cost. But if Wendy’s & McD’s cost you that much, I wouldn’t plan on getting out of FG for that same price.

We fly from the East Coast to Hawaii every other year; the flights going over are always super early. Normally I’m up by 3-4am for those, but luckily next time we’re doing the nonstop from Dulles and have a park & fly package (2 weeks free parking). Flight isn’t until 9am, so I can sleep in (we’re an hour away from Dulles, so staying at the airport night before gives us even more time).

I’m so over early flights! Used to take early ones to Disney, but now if I have a choice, I’ll do afternoon flights.

No 4 for 4, it’s more like a 2 for 6 value menu here. A baconator combo with regular fries and a drink is $13.00

Canadian prices are quite a bit higher than yours and they vary across the country. An Egg McMuffin on its own is $4.19, a Happy Meal is $6.00 here and the main burger combos are $13.00. We do have the $1.00 drinks all summer though. :sunny:

My oldest loves sushi (he was born in Hawaii and grew up with it). He’s not a cheap date! We get sushi carry out every few weeks; it’s always over $100. Luckily when we go back to Hawaii, we go to Sushi Bay every couple days; it’s super cheap, fresh, and the pieces are huge.

Okay now I’m hungry for it.

Saladworks. Like really people. Its 70% lettuce.

I’m in NJ and a complete pizza snob. Little Caesar’s is the worst pizza known to man. My kids wouldn’t even touch it as kids. I never bought it but when it was serviced at a bday party they wouldn’t touch it. Dominos and Pizza Hut are barely edible. It’s like fake cheese on cardboard. As a kid I did like Pizza Hut (free personal pizza if you read so many books) but then I grew up and they changed their pizza.

I really like five guys but I live around an abundance of diners so I have access to lots of great burgers. We also have several chains here. Habit burger (really good too), shake shack, red Robin, etc. But five guys fries win out.

My mom used to take me to a lot of movies that she would fall asleep at, but other than that she was pretty into most things we did, especially trips and such.
