I'd like to see BOTH pass discounts AND preferred whatever. After all, being a DVC member, I OWN property and pay taxes in Florida .... I should at least get a Florida discount ... any owners, not in Florida. disagree?

I voted for Park Pass discounts, but it was very close. Those in-park perks are very tempting.

Park Pass discounts have got to be #1, though. That would really fall in line with the DVC way of staying at WDW, the ability to come and go (and spend $$) between the parks and resorts. The same freedom and flexibility as AP's, but hopefully less money. After all, we have committed to WDW for decades to come.

Park Perks may not be such a pipe dream. Think of the PR they would give DVC! Non-members would see areas throughout the parks were DVC members are put ahead of them or given better viewing. Anyone who has been over at Universal and stayed on site is probably familiar with the longing looks you get as you stroll past people to the front of the line. That perk has probably been a determing factor for many people to stay at Universal resorts. Of course, I don't think such perks would be the only reason why anyone would buy into DVC, but it would be another added feature, and one that is readily apparent to everyone at the parks. I think Disney can recognize the value in this, and would get a lot more people to express at least initial interest in DVC.

I was having trouble deciding between the discounted pass vote or the park perks vote. In the end, I voted for discounted passes.

The reason, DVC may be interested to know, is that I wouldn't visit the parks any more often purely because of park perks, but the discounted passes would definitely equal more time spent in the parks. And more time in the parks ultimately means more dollars in Disney's pocket! ;)

So who would be the winner, me or Disney? I guess we both would be. :teeth:

Being a FL resident and an AP holder for a long time, I must say we do tend to pick up and go to WDW for "spur of the moment" trips. As a new DVC owner, we plan to use our points for planned events such as MNSSHP and fill the time in between with FL discount ressies at any deluxe resort. Ultimately, we spend a lot more dining at the parks.

Richyams brings up a good point about current Florida residents - they wouldn't get much out of the deal, but I think most wouldn't complain (at least i hope not).

Help me understand why DVC owners who live in Florida would feel they are more entitled to discounts than DVC owners who don't?

I understand that the current structure has a discount for Florida residents that happens to benefit the DVC owners that live in Florida. This may or may not change. But, should DVC management decide to extend FL resident ticket prices to all DVC owners, I'm just curious why the Florida DVC owners would feel as though this was a take away from them. I'm not meaning to start any us vs them mentality just trying to follow the logic in that way of thinking.

If the logic is simply, that doesn't change anything for me, it helps a lot of members but it doesn't help me. Then, lets rally with Florida residents and try and get those special in park perks too!

I voted for resort upgrades such as the slide @ OKW. I think it would go a long way to making people feel more at home. Like the bus service to BCV people talk about it being slow and to many other resorts to service at the same time. Also maybe a member parking area at BWV VWL and BCV that is closer to the villas themselves. A DVC check in area at Boardwalk BCV and VWL then you will get your welcome home and not worry about waiting in line with other cash paying guests and having the CM's not treat you the way you may feel you should be for being a member. These are just a thought as in Canada we allready get discounted hopper passes not every year but for the most part we get the 7 day hopper at buy 1 get the second half off.
