What is Your Magic Combination for Split Stays?

Pretty much every trip is VGF and RIV. I may occasionally swap BLT for VGF. But that is pretty much it.
This is us as well. But for some reason we usually end up starting at RIV (or HS/EP area) and then finishing at MK. I don't know if it's because of the times we are traveling, but we usually save a few points by staying at RIV first and then going to VGF or BLT after. I think I might prefer to start at MK because it's so much Disney and then wind down to a more relaxing stay in the EP/HS area.

Generally, however, when we've stayed over NYE I prefer to be at Riviera for New Years, where you can sometimes see MK and EP fireworks from your room.

Did BCV and BLT and it was great. I think any combination between Epcot and MK area is a good one. It was my first time at BLT and I loved it.

6 nights at AKV Sav, 4 nights at BCV in a week. Hopefully it will be good. I prefer one place.

BWV and VGF for the Epcot/MK split. I also own at Poly but it only has studios and point-sucking bungalows, so it's not an ideal choice for people who like larger accommodations. However Poly2 could end up changing my mind and leap ahead of VGF.
For the rest of my life after reading your post Ms. Marionnette, whenever I see the bungalows on the Ferryboat, Monorail, my room balcony at a monorail resort or even on Astro-orbiter, I will surely think of the phrase "Point-Sucking Bungalows".

We like to end at MK area because we like to relax/rest at the MK pools from 1pm to 4:30-5pm then go back to MK. but whatever the best value is for the days and prefer to be near for Extended Hours so we can avoid taking a bus or skyliner, just either walk back to beach club area or take monorail or walk to contemporary. (That Skyliner line to Riv can be 30+ minute wait after fireworks).

Wondering which one.
I mean I prefer to stay at one place per trip instead of changing hotels. With 4 kids is just so much unpacking and repacking to move. So far my top 4 rankings of the dvc resorts is okw, blt, ccv, akv. We almost always are in 2bdrms as which room can impact which resort.

Sometimes we start out at one resort in a studio for 3 or 4 nights then move to a 1br for another 3 or 4 nights. We have 3 home resorts, but lately we have been trying other resorts.

Since we own at 6 different resorts, it’s (clearly) hard for me
to pick one single magical combination. 😆 We tend to split our stays btw a monorail resort (VGF, Poly, or BLT) & an Epcot area resort (BCV or RIV). 🤩 I like to settle in, so we stay just a few nights at the first resort & more at the second 😉

(We also own at & love AKV, but it requires the “right” traveling group, which is why it didn’t make the “magical” cut 😉)

My waitlist for AKV Club level just came through for next month, so we're starting there, then VGF for the Halloween party. Since I had already booked our flights (for DH and I), when I went to modify the flight.....of course..... United had nothing. So I had to go a day earlier. So now it's Dolphin, then AKV, then VGF....ready for an adventure to say the least! :P I know it will be a bit of moving, but I am excited about Club level to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We have only been to Contemporary club level with our kids a few years ago!

We enjoy "value hunting" .... you can "optimize" points and experience by picking your weekend resort!

Two examples(studios):

BCV/BWV:
This was a 3 night getaway to hit HS and RotR. 1st night BCV on Sat - gets 2 days at pool. 2 nights BWV. Total 36 pts. (Late Jan)

OKW/SSR/AKV-sav:
7 nights:
3 OKW near hospitality
2 SSR
2 AKV - SAV

Doing the sav view on weekend was best bang for buck ... This trip is next month (September)- only 79 points!

In the first example it was only like 1 or 2 more points to stay at beach club (for pool) on the weekend vs boardwalk. Similar situation for SAV view at AKL.

Saving points to me adds to the magic 🙂

Enjoy!

I would say Poly and Beach Club I love the proximity for both resorts. Love walking to the park. Since I read it above I would also say Aulani and VGC two of my favorite resorts and make a great 2 part trip for us Texans.

While we usually try to avoid split stays due to the hassle of moving and the few hours of roomlessness during the switch, we've done two out of necessity and have a 3rd planned for later this year.

1) AUL » VGC - obviously necessary for geographical reasons. Really enjoyed it. Would have liked it more in reverse but it was too late to move VGC earlier by the time we decided to go to Aulani.
2) RIV » PVB - this one was out of necessity due to points/borrowing situation (yay 50% rule). Love the two resorts and they complemented each other fairly well.
3) PVB » BCV - planned for NYE festivities this year. This one is entirely by choice, swap on 12/31. Goal is to have an easy walk back to our room after NYE fireworks and be able to watch the 12/30 fireworks from our Poly balcony.

What we really like is trying new resorts/bigger/special-er rooms for 1-2 nights on post-cruise stays. Our version of a split-stay where it's no inconvenience because we had to switch anyway. With the shorter duration it's easier to find availability and easier to justify going for the spendier rooms.

I like to split a trip 3 ways: one MK resort, one Crescent lake resort for Epcot and DHS and for AK (Jumbo if possible). But I stay 11 or 12 nights every trip, for shorter stays I'd probably drop the AKV leg.

For New Years and Christmas (2019, 2020, 2021 but not 2022 due to work schedules) - the magic stay is VGF over Christmas and then RIV std over New Years, when you can see both MK and EP fireworks. DH said the 2021 fireworks this year were the best he's ever seen.

I have BLT and BRV for MK and BWV and RIV for Epcot as well as AKL for AK. I usually usually do 10 days stays with 3 nights in one of my MK resorts, 3 or 4 nights at one of my Epcot resorts and either 3 or 4 nights at AKL or OKW where I also own.

We did a 3-resort split over 10 days and felt like it was 1 move too many, although we did like our split with AKV. I think I have to stay at least 4 nights in 1 place, though. So I guess the answer is to book longer trips.
